Oregon boat raced us in the fiesta
Yeah, but Bama dominated ND in the NCG.  Anyway...that 2012 loss certainly hurt a lot more but felt similar in terms of running into a talented team perfectly suited to ruin our day.  Amazingly, that Baylor team finished 4-5 in the Big 12.  They played out of their minds.

This was a lot like watching the 2012 cats struggle mightily in their next-to-last conference game gainst an insanely talented/athletic Baylor squad.  Also...much like we could hang with 2 or 3 of the CFP set this year, we could have hung with (or perhaps dominated) Manti Teo and Notre Dame in 2012's NCG.

They're obviously stacked with huge, NFL-tier players, Young has played totally lights out since their first 2 drives, and Howard is really struggling.  Their ability to get into the backfield nearly every time they blitz is just debilitating.  What a sad showing...ugh.  It wouldn't have been so disappointing without that encouraging start.

It could have been a lot worse than 45-20, but total yards were 496 to 401.  How?!

The Big 12 is now 1-6 in bowls.  Yikes.

Every time I see this thread title I think it's about CK7 and that he's left for the head-coaching job at Alabama.

CK7 is Optimus Prime.
Deion is Prime Time.
I believe this is a pre-emptive strike by Deion to prevent CK7 from becoming *the* Coach Prime.

Am I crazy for considering making a pit stop (already traveling from FL to WA) with a 6yo in tow for this game and the festivities?  Thinking about spending one night there, I guess - maybe the 30th.

How did Kevin Sumlin's recruiting class rankings compare?

What an amazing debut!  I admit that I'm surprised to see Sky doing so much damage in the NFL.  He is composed and efficient in his movements and appears to be confident as hell.  Good for him.  I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up starting multiple games this year.

He’s either the scary smart basketball version or the best chance the basketcats have had at a national title with a coach in my lifetime.

The only thing making it hard for me to care about basketball at this point is the (apparent) complete lack of consequences for programs that have been caught cheating.

45-21 loss to Fresno State in 2nd game of 2004 ended Sproles' Heisman hopes (?) and kinda crushed my soul.

The KC Star editorial board wrote that De Sousa should be suspended for the entire year.  Their logic?  It was behavior unworthy of such a classy basketball program (which, BY THE WAY, just found a way to keep De Sousa on scholarship despite his totally selfish secret plan with Adidas to exchange cash in exchange for his agreeing to attend KU, the victim in all this).

I mean...you can't make this crap up.  Same "editorial" also chastised KSU for stealing the ball by calling it as bush league as it gets.  It's pretty sad/astounding that KU hoops, clearly one of the dirtiest in the history of the sport, is still considered unimpeachable in those parts.  They're in complete denial.  Lulz.

Although Oscar's reaction was predictably passive and inane it will probably also end up being pretty characteristically forgettable.  It was hilariously absurd that he took the aw-shucks, boys-will-be-boys approach and completely lacked context, focusing on coaching failures instead of the melee.  No one in their right mind expected KSU to compete in that game.

I did not watch any of this game since there's no point in watching games involving KU until/unless their shameless, filthy pro-am cheating scheme is put to a stop, but I can't help but feel (based on my 5 minutes of WTFing over brawl highlights) that we're collectively focusing a bit too little on the guy who stomped once or twice on what I presume was another (cornered/trapped) human being.  That seems almost as bad as trying/failing to maim the same helpless person with a chair.

How was KU bball not already crippled with sanctions?  College basketball is beyond repair.  If Self kicks De Stoolsa off the team, will the NCAA allow him to hire a replacement from the NBADL or a euro league?  *bites nails*

Moral of the story: Coach at a program with innumerable inherent disadvantages only if all involved are willing to cheat at recruiting as much as possible.

I doubt it. The highest paying job he's had is the K-State job, by far. He was making low 6 figures with those NFL position coach jobs. Doesn't he also have alimony and child support to pay? He needs to keep working but keeps rough ridin' up employment.

Could have been investing in Bitcoin at the time. Would be 100X richer at minimum than his contracts provided. :dunno:
It seems more likely that RP would have started his own coin after seeing BTC's success.

How any self-respecting KSU fan can directly aid ESPN in linking advertising dollars to the cesspool that is KU athletics is far beyond me, amigos.

Obviously there are still a bunch of KU fans working at ESPN (presumably couldn't get real sports jobs).  Isn't overt charity toward a shameful AD frowned upon by good people around the world?  How else could you explain a(n internet-only?) TV show about the worst football program in D1?

How scared of our success do the KU grads/dropouts at ESPN have to be to intentionally crop/exclude pictures of powercats on helmets from literally all photos (and most video stills) linked to the multiple front-page stories about the David-over-Goliath bludgeoning that was KSU over OU last week?  FFS.   This sounds crazy, but I am 100% serious and not making this up.  In first pic below, they literally included <blurry crowd scene on the left> instead of a helmet with a powercat on the right, and my brain (I'm not even a professional photo editor, mind you) responded with a giant WTF.  I don't think I've ever seen a similarly cropped photo.  Do they teach adversarial image cropping in Lawrentucky or something?  "Hey look, nation - purple team we want you to forget ASAP totally dominated OU!"

There is absolutely no reason not to have this type of playoff. College football is so weird

Too many games
Eliminate non-con games.  Boom!  Done.  Mostly glorified exhibition games anyway.  The chaos that would ensue due to lack of inter-conference data points would just add to the fun.

On a more serious note, that would probably destroy revenue in a big way.

On a similarly serious note (as the last note), it blows my freakin' mind that we are #16 in the CFP rankings even after a couple of no-show games vs. OSU and Baylor.  Awesome.  The future is bright, amigos.

Same thing, but since 2009

Tale of 4 programs...

I'm not sure this ever got the level of attention that it should have.  HOLY rough ridin' crap.  I know the 100 losses the last 10 years thing is something we have been tracking but seeing it in visual form...  :sdeek: :sdeek: :sdeek:
Unparalleled consistency.

That Princeton stadium is too ambitious for KU, they should do what San Jose State has done

Les is More 2020: Feel the Berm

Seriously, though.  Absurdly bold cheating at recruiting has allowed them to win 87 straight big 12 hoops titles, and attendance cheating has allowed them to remain a P5 school?  HOW ARE THERE NOT PITCHFORKS IN THE EFFING STREETS, MY PEOPLE?

KU absolutely needs to win this game for several reasons, and should never allow kstate to pass us in football again. We got all of the advantages over them to be the better football program

Miles will win over the entire fan base with this win,,

Wow... how much crimson and blue Kool-aid do you have to drink to believe that!? Has to be borderline OD'ing.
Most KU fans seem to think that their ridiculous basketball recruiting implies that Lawrence is somehow widely considered a desirable place to live, I think.  This is a key tenet of believing that KU has not cheated their asses off in basketball recruiting since Larry Brown was there (which is, of course, false).  We'll see how that perception holds up now that bball recruiting is tanking due to KU's inability to brazenly hand out bags of cash via Adidas.
