Isn't the most plausible explanation that Howard has already decided that he's transferring and not playing anymore and will redshirt this year to have an extra year for wherever his path in life leads? And that staff is cool with that as opposed to telling him to kick rocks now and making it a public thing?

So you're saying that a player who has already checked out, already decided to transfer after the end of the year, who dressed up in full pads, looked like he was warming up in the end of an FSN1 broadcast that showed him throwing on the sidelines, the coaching staff still keeps him in a "to go" type of situation just for show? Again, I don't pretend to know what the decision process was there but I think as a coaching staff, you put in your best option to win a gam at that time.
