Kansas State Football / Re: New poster, question..................
« on: August 06, 2011, 02:54:58 PM »
Snyds was great.   To me, he's EXACTLY like Blockbuster, Inc.

He changed the business, kicked ass and took names.

...then....things changed.  It wasn't him, necessarily...it was the world.  The competitors were doing things he was either incapable of doing or, worse, unwilling.

He can still "perform," but he's not special anymore.  No "better" than the other "best," and probably just "good."  But, he's probably the best we can get in our little town without Wifi and no McDonalds Redbox.

Waiting to make up my mind on this one...

....if, IF, the WR talent is truly that quality, AND some combo of Kleiny Coff  and the Self-Help-Motivational-Guru-Twitter-QB gets it done, then red-shirting Sams is a blessing.

I'm not really worried about QB, believe it or not...of course I am a co-captain on the "Team Kleiny Coff 2011 YPC Freight Train to Bowl Eligibility Fear the Beard" team.

District 9 is the best movie about the Afrikans accent.  NOT Blood Diamond or Invictus.

Coincidentally, it's also a strong contender for best movie about cat food, but ultimately does not beat out Aristocats for that title.

I am one of those guys who always preferred the Grilled Cajun Shrimp to John's Spicy Shrimp.   Man, oh man, the arguments that we would have.

You know who also wants to know where kids are playing?  Pedophiles.

I am on team Hatter.

You take blow torches to red shirts on playmakers.   Red shirts are for beef.

Playing Kevin as a Frosh got us the tie in the CU game, and Canty as a Frosh was also huge.  We were not loaded then, just loading

 :embarrassed:

They are so far in debt, what can we do?   :frown:
Isn't that what Trim's BBBS donations are for?  Our little brother?

I thought this at first, as well.   Gave my first 20 just because I have had so, so many great days in that place over the years.  Then Trim PM'd me and said it was for real kids and crap...so I ponied up.

Point is, it's a crap hole and they do not have the money to stay in the game.   Honestly, I am really concerned the State legislature will make us stay together.  We will have a BCS facility, and nothing to show for it if hair brained Pres of theirs gets her way....zero $ to athletics and drag KSU down with her...that is her agenda.   Sad.

Might be good if you were a salesman, there seem to be LOADS of salemany types there.  Lots of "financial planners" and such.

Before the interwebs, it was a pretty solid way to learn new info.   Sometimes they have speakers that can be pretty interesting.  Jeremy Crabtree is one that comes to mind, basically because he all but called the Brown Brothers and Harper coming back to KSU, but was all "I can't say anything because I don't want to ruin it," yet everyone who knew dick about the situation knew exactly what he meant.

The intended audience is not you, if you read this board.  That much is clear.

The "Tuck" part comes from the fact that it's led by the old guard.  The same prevailing opinions that you see on GPC are what you'll find there.   I remember sitting next to some dudes and hearing them bitch about another GPC poster who was calling out the fact that Keithen Valentine was NOT good and was NOT worthy of any pre-season hype and that Ron did NOT have a D1 running back in the depth chart at the time.....all of which were later PROVED to be TRUE, but these knuckleheads were livid with the GPC poster who dared to post that.  Funniest part was that I was that GPC poster they were pissed at....it's was surreal.

Also, it's kinda strange that they choose to have their meetings in a place with a worse TV setup than a rough ridin' Applebeas.  If you want to have "watch parties," do it someplace with quality TVs.

Topeka's group is actually WAY better.  They re-show the games every Tuesday at a sports bar.  The KC group doesn't do that.

Man, I was a "part" of each the ones listed in this thread so far.  1993 was the year for me...

The pain and understanding listening to Mitch in the parking lot after we tied CU that year, and telling us that "if a tie was like kissing your sister, our sister was Christi Brinkley."  I was like, yep, you nailed it Mitch.

I still get emotional when I think about  listening to Mitch in the parking lot after we beat OU in 93, hearing Mitch say "Listen to me CLOSELY!" over and over...and then he gave his "Red Sea parted speech."  I had rough ridin' tears in my eyes...

I miss the crap out of crazy old Mitch.

It's not reasonable, and I'm not really proud of it, but I small part of me really did want to die 1998, just to stop the pain....

This season might actually be the perfect storm for us to suck hard.

the difference between horrible and "okay" is 1 win. 5 or 6

7 would be good

8 would be a miracle and the fumble gods are handing us points

You just described how every season will be as long as we are in the Big 12 and play every team once.  This is the reason that we need to pay for non-con wins and avoid "sexy" matchups that appease casual fans.  I prefer to go to my bowl game in December than in August, than you very rough ridin' much.

20465
who cares if he can throw?  he will asspound people with his running.  didn't he asspound texas with hus running?

Correct.

Kleiny this year will be a LOT like Beasley.  You'll see some fake-option passing (remember that beauty that he tossed for a TD in Boulder), they have to bite on it.

We have already seen Kleiny throw this exact same pass ( ), cept now he'll be tossing it to Harper and/or Sams (yes, Sams).

After Kavs left, Snyder completely switched to yards per completion as his measuring stick for the passing game.  He was to nail you deep every once in a while.  Partly because you can get a big play that changes the momentum of the game, but mostly because it keeps those DB's back there and gives his QB options for running like a bagillion times more a game.

I wonder what the culture of internet dating is like for a 40 year old.  I bet it is crazy.

It has to be a whirlwind.  Canadian guy I know had a 50+ year old aunt get married to a dude she met on an internet dating site.

By the way, where the eff did this emoticon come from? :comeatme:  I didn't get the server database memo.

keep in mind, we threw Klein out there to the wolves. He was out there without our two leading recievers. He was throwing to Bachamp and Quarles for chrissakes.

Yeah, but every throw I saw him make ended up in the dirt about 10 yards in front of him. I don't think the receivers were to blame. Hopefully he's gotten better.

Beasley went through a similar phase.  He was always throwing god damn bounce passes during his first season.

I expect Kleiny to be every bit as good as Beasley.
