This is a thread about who will win the electoral votes required to be POTUS.  It appears that there is somewhat of a consensus that the four states that will decide this 2020 election are Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Florida...some would say Arizona, Ohio, and North Carolina are in this category as well.

I like to check https://fivethirtyeight.com , and they have Biden up by 10 in MI, 8 in PA, 9 in WI, and 9 in FL.  I like how 538 attempts to grade the polls.  https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pollster-ratings/  So, that's a site that look to.

Now that it's becoming clearer that the NCAA has no intention of allowing Bill Self to coach in college basketball for the foreseeable future, it's time to turn our sights toward the next regime.

Who do you guys got?

Essentially Flyertalk / Chicken tenders
« on: November 19, 2019, 12:16:07 PM »
There's been a lot of talk about chicken tenders, maybe...maybe too much talk.  However, there is no other thread dedicated to this food.

I like Hardee's / Carls Junior chicken tenders best for a drive-through tender.  For an order-at-the-counter-but-sit-down place, I like Raising Cane's.  For sit-down-order-from-a-server-at-the-table place, I like J Alexanders.

Kansas State Football / Let's talk about 2019 Bowl Games!
« on: November 02, 2019, 07:08:07 PM »

We are bowl eligible!  Remember, the Big 12 bowls are not obligated to take anyone, unless the conference game champion is NOT in the playoff, and then the Sugar has to take them.  If the conference game champion makes the playoff, the conference selects an alternate for the Sugar.

The selection order for the Big 12 is:

Sugar (New Orleans)
Alamo (San Antonio)
Camping World (Orlando, Florida)
Texas (Houston)
Liberty (Memphis, Tennessee)
Cheez-It (Phoenix)
First Responder (Dallas)

Here are my guesses:

Sugar (New Orleans) - Oklahoma
Alamo (San Antonio) - Baylor
Camping World (Orlando, Florida) - Oklahoma State
Texas (Houston) - Texas
Liberty (Memphis, Tennessee) - Kansas State
Cheez-It (Phoenix) - Iowa State
First Responder (Dallas) - TCU

Welcome everyone to the thread where we ask long-time goEMAW.com contributor and Kstateonline.com writer, ksu_FAN, if we should be worried about this game.

Home dogs.  Ugh.

I am 0-2 in my predictions over the last 2 kat kontests.  This week, I believe that while we are a 2.5 point dog at home (presently), will we will lose by 2 touchdowns in a game much LESS close than the score would indicate.

We fail to get into the end zone, and lose this one 17 to 6.

Kansas State Football / BAYLOR GAME THREAD (our offense is offensive)

go cats

OK, I am CLOSE to being over the OSU loss (still can't bring myself to going back to reread the prediction thread.  Still very raw.  Time takes time, guys).  But, it's time to force ourselves to think about the Baylor game.

What the eff is going to happen in this game?  I don't know guys, I just don't know.

I predict that we will win in 5 overtimes.  Per new rules passed beginning with the 2019 season, when a game reaches the fifth overtime, teams will begin to run alternating two-point conversion plays instead of offensive possessions that start at the 25-yard line.  I predict that we convert that two-point conversion, and stop Baylor to win the game.

Let's get everyone on the record on what they think (believe in your heart of hearts) will happen.  Not your rough ridin' wishes. Your predictions, god damn it.

Cat's dominate the line of scrimmage, but give up 300+ yards of passing.  Hard fought, and we don't know the outcome until the last drive.  Cats prevail, 34 to 31.

Kansas State Football / Let’s look ahead at the Cats schedule...
« on: September 14, 2019, 03:42:38 PM »
Couple weeks ago we were remarking among the Mods that if we win 2 out of the upcoming stretch of @MSU,@OSu, BU, TCU then we’d be “on track” at being pretty good.  3-1 was thought to mean that we are dang good (like Alamo bowl good), and 4-0 meant watch out OU and damn, son.

Both OSU and Baylor look pretty good to me, but I think we have a real good shot at 3-1.  4-0 still seems unlikely to me, but the mere fact I am entertaining the idea blows my rough ridin' mind.

A LOT of you guys owe Mustang Gene and Meadowlark Klieman apologies for doubting this hire.

Kansas State Football / How good is our OL?
« on: September 04, 2019, 01:19:44 PM »
The stats looked great for the Nichols game, but watching the game live I didn't have the sensation that we were really opening up big holes.  Was this just the scheme...was this a 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust approach?  Perhaps I am just completely wrong?

I was very impressed with the second team OL.  I know that they were going against a tired DL, but i thought that they performed better than the first team, which seems odd, but hey I will take it.

Also, I am excited that we have a stable full of guys to run the ball.  3 transfers?!?! Feels like the good old days, man.

Does this championship change anything for you?  For me it does.

I feel compelled to "accept" oscar now.  I do not like oscar, and I suspect that I never will.  However, winning a conference title with his own players is obvious evidence that he can coach.  No reasonable person can question that.

However, it's an entertainment business first.  oscar doesn't entertain me, so I doubt I'll spend any money on KSU basketball.  I dropped a fortune on the cult of Huggins and Frank....loved them.  Still do love them, and continue to wish they had never left.  Over the last 6 years or so I found other stuff to do instead of college basketball, so I definitely don't feel like I am "harmed" by oscar being the KSU basketball coach.  If anything, it's really saved me a lot of time and money.

So, I guess you could say that this championship changes a great deal for me, and yet nothing.  Go Cats!

I know there are a few mentions of this in some other threads, but I am curious what/how/when you guys cook with these things.  I just received one as a gift (Bella pro series 6 qt), and don't know anything about them.  People seem to love them tho. I need some ideas.

I need some help with movie suggestions.

My pre-teen son and I will be binging on some movies this weekend whilst the gals are shopping etc.  I am not too worried about rough ridin' him up...He's a pretty sophisticated for his age, and I am very comfortable with where he is at as a compassionate and responsible human for his age. So, I figure that I am not at high risk of turning him into a psychopath or permanantly scaring him (mods please delete this thread if something awful happens some day).

The goal here is to watch movies "Mom may not like," but that are not too awful with sexy time stuff and super bad role modeling of behavior (e.g. realistic portrayals of terrible stuff happening to kids and stuff).  We have seen the Matrix movies, and Indiana Jones and all that stuff together.  Looking to take up to the next level here.  NOT baby stuff, guys!

Here are some movies I am thinking of:

Speed
Predator
Terminator
John Wick

(obviously I am totally OK with people getting shot in the face and space aliens shredding people)

Your thoughts?

In this thread we post about our entirely apathetic endorsement of the North Dakota University guy as our next coach.  I cannot predict the future. So, I have no way of knowing how this will turn out.

I don't like it, but I accept it.  I mean, what choice do I have?

Having said that, I am not going to buy football tickets or anything stupid like that.  But, I WILL check the box scores carefully!

Kansas State Football / NEAL BROWN: IS HE THE ONE?!? (fingers crossed?)
« on: December 08, 2018, 09:29:29 AM »
Apparently coached at Tech along the way, I had no idea (I had to google basically everything about him, as I do every coaching candidate).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neal_Brown

I then googled "Is Neal Brown a good coach" and I found this article:

https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/9/29/16382818/neal-brown-troy-football-head-coach-lsu
Quote
Coaches knew Neal Brown would be one of them soon, because none of the other Kentucky WRs would stand next to their position coach, this weird guy named Mike Leach, and keep up in conversation.

I'm still waiting to hear from j rake on the numbers, but this guy seems to have the tangible intangibles to tangle? No?

Kansas State Football / goEMAW SOURCES: WHAT WE KNOW, WHEN WE KNOW IT
« on: November 28, 2018, 12:58:01 PM »
We have sources indicating that the KSU AD will announce that LHC Bill Snyder’s run as head coach will end, and that we expect our next coach to be that LittreLL guy.  Our source is not a baby monitor duct taped to the bottom of a table in the AD offices, so do not bother checking for one because that would be a waste of Univeristy resources, and no one wants that.

Additionally, we were told by another source “If he kept seiler on we'd have to buy more squat racks for the players.”  However, this seems like speculation.  I mean, someone absolutely said that, but we don’t really know what the squat rack situation is at all.

We will try to keep this thread updated as we know more.

Kansas State Football / Latest "Snyder is a piece of crap" moment

...edit to add Matt Hall's quote

Quote
He was asked to clarify him singling out one player and what he meant a little bit later on, and he softened his stance some to say it was just individuals here and there who caused issues, not entire units.

The piece of crap is blaming it on individual kids.  Not his himself or his rough ridin' son.

At this point, I don't support either Kansas State's basketball coach or its football coach anymore.
