Essentially Flyertalk / Signs you are an alcoholic???
« on: August 30, 2010, 09:38:38 PM »
:dunno:  I think I'm an alcoholic  :drink:

I don't have withdrawals... but I wouldn't know but I haven't gone 3 days without a drink for as long as I can remember.  I bought a 12 pack tonight and I'm about to dust it off at home.  I didn't drink on Thursday. That's good right?

I hooked up with a girl that dated a "friend/acquaintance" of mine for about 4 years.  They have been apart for 3 years and he's been married for two.  I decided that I enjoyed being with her more than hanging out with him so I said screw it.  It's not like we are bros or anything.  He's more of a friend of a friend.

So anyway, he knows about it now and has made it known that I have an ass kicking on the way.  (guy is like 31 and I'm 35 who beats up people after 30?)  But I digress...  I think I can avoid him for quite a while but we are bound to run into eachother at some point. (JoCo and the same circle of friends).  I'm not sure how to handle this. He's younger, bigger, stronger, and meaner than I am.  He was a notorious 1 punch knockout bar room brawler in his heyday. I haven't been in a scrap in over 10 years.  I wasn't very good at it then. Oh, and he's a ku fan (never attended).

Do I just get it over with and show up where he is and take an ass beating?

Do I avoid as much as possible and run if I see him?

Take Karate? Be-friend an MMA dude with a hair trigger?

HELP!!

http://www.kansascity.com/2010/07/01/2057416/man-charged-in-rape-of-92-year.html

Johnson County prosecutors today filed six charges against a man in the rape of a 92-year-old woman in Leawood.

Simon Angilda, 21, of Grandview, is charged with rape, sodomy, attempted sodomy, aggravated burglary, robbery and battery on a law enforcement officer.

The victim was able to get to a phone Tuesday night and dial 911 during the attack at her home in the 10300 block of Overbrook Road, police said. A nearby cruiser arrived quickly, and the assailant punched an officer and ran out the door before officers subdued and cuffed him, they said.

The woman had let the man in after he knocked on the door or rang a doorbell, police said, in what appears to be a random crime. They believe he intended to rob the woman but then sexually assaulted her, they said.

Angilda is on probation in Jackson County for an attempted robbery there last year.

Is absolutely amazing entertainment.  I've been paying attention now for the last few days.  I turn off everything. I even turn my thermostat up so my A/C doesn't kick in and drown out anything.  What I've found is that these fights consist of brief episodes of absolute insanity that are incomprehensible, random swear words which are basically the only discernible communications, and slamming of doors, drawers, etc...  followed by blaring music and somebody leaving.

The girl is smokin' hot too.  I don't know these people other than brief hellos in passing so I really have no rooting interest whatsoever other than to hopefully come home from a night of drinking to find her in tears at my front door not wearing any panties.

MANHATTAN, Kan. | Playing pickup basketball games with his Kansas State teammates this summer has made Jacob Pullen more confident than ever.

“The sky is the limit for this team,” said Pullen, a senior guard. “We’re going to start the season as a top-five team, and as the season goes on I think we will be the No. 1-ranked team in the nation.”

Pullen has no problem making that claim partly because the Wildcats return all but three players from a group that advanced to the Elite Eight last season. But for the most part his enthusiasm comes from what he’s seen behind closed doors at Bramlage Coliseum during the last month.

Aside from incoming recruit Juevol Myles, who Wildcats coach Frank Martin said is finishing two classes at Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College, the entire roster is on campus. Pullen can’t think of a negative thing to say about that.

He likes the way Curtis Kelly and Jamar Samuels are playing. He thinks sophomores Rodney McGruder and Wally Judge have improved significantly. And he believes the new faces are better than advertised.

“It’s amazing what one summer can do,” Pullen said. “We’ve grown a lot. It’s looking like we have all the pieces we need to run the show.”

Best of all, those pieces are jelling.

“I’m sure we’ll have issues like every team has, but they’re not going to be issues of people disliking each other,” Martin said. “That’s the advantage of having returning players. They have a better understanding of each other and how things work.”

Of the newcomers, junior-college transfer Freddy Asprilla and freshman Will Spradling are turning the most heads.

Samuels compared Asprilla’s body type to former K-State center Luis Colon and his playing style to Kelly.

“Freddy is very impressive,” Samuels said. “I’m loving his game. He’s a good inside player. He’s Luis Colon, but more skilled. He’s got a huge body, and he knows how to use his skills. He’s got great footwork and can score.”

Spradling, from Shawnee Mission South, has been impressive on defense. The first time he went up against Samuels in the open court, teammates say he stole the ball and scored on the other end.

“Defensively, Will is better than I thought he would be at this point,” Pullen said. “It’s still open gym, so you can’t tell a lot, but he’s pretty far along for a freshman.”

NCAA rules restrict Martin from working with his players in the summer, so he can’t say who the best player has been. But he is confident the Wildcats are practicing as if the 2010-11 season has already begun.

He is interested to see who enters fall practices ready to fill the leadership void left by former point guard Denis Clemente.

“Jacob did that last year whenever Denis wasn’t in the game,” Martin said. “But now he’s going to have to spearhead it without Denis at his side. Which one of those freshman guards is going to embrace that and grow like Jacob did two years ago? I want to know how different people are going to accept different roles.”

Pullen is up for the challenge. He’s planning on handling the majority of K-State’s point-guard duties next season and is working on his passing more than shooting.

“It’s just a great chance for me to make plays,” Pullen said. “If my points average goes down, that’s fine as long as I’m getting assists, I’m getting my teammates involved and our team wins. I look forward to leading in that way.

My nubb buddies always blew a gasket when I accused them of this. Now seems like the perfect time to bring it up to every Nubb fan you/I/we know.

I'll miss the CU fans throwing crap on the field when they are losing.

I'll miss Nubb fans saying... "We're back."

I guess this thread might be really short.

I won't give two rat's shits about college athletics anymore. This will free up lots of time.  I will probably bbs a 2 hours less a day.  Sportscenter.. pFFFT...  Driving to and from Manhattan, watching games, discussing games.  I'm going to have like a month or two of new time, not to mention money.

I'm thinking of pooling my time and money into a plot to chisel California, Oregon, and Washington off of the rough ridin' continent and watch it slide into the Pacific. I'll probably need help.

What are you all going to do?  Golf?   :frown:
