Maes: I've never understood why people don't like it. It always made me happy though 'cause 99% of the people that don't like Maes are the type of people I would never wanna hang out with anyways.
I really appreciate this bit, but it tells us nothing. Frank could be leaving on Mississippi steamboat to Miami tomorrow and he wouldn't tell Jon anything. I hope he doesn't tell Jon anything he doesn't want put on blast, and I think Frank is smart enough to know that.
They were sitting at a table next to me in Bluestem today. They didn't formally meet, but HCFM came to get coffee and Wefald yelled at him as he was leaving, and they started talking about things really quietly. As you can imagine, I did everything I could to not act like I was trying to listen to the conversation. I couldn't hear everything since they weren't right next to me, but I heard a couple things.
It sounds like Frank wants to sit down and discuss the contract with Currie, not just have Currie write something up for him to sign. But I specifically heard him say "I trust the people here" and "Where else would I want to be?"
Now my question to people who know more about his relationship with Wefald, would HCFM be honest with him, or BS him about wanting to stay?
What did Frank order? Seems like a guy that doesn't need much caffeine to get going in the morning.
I have no idea what kind of pull Weefer has anymore, so I have to assume none. With that said, why would he BS a guy who can't do anything for him?
Just from your small snipit of eavesdropping (BTW, good work) it sounds like Currie is being a real prick about this.
My question is this: If we lose to UK by a small margin, how far do we drop? Would we lose a 2 seed if we win out except for at UK and if we play them in the Big XII championships game?
Last time we lost a close game to KU what happened?
Cuse would not destroy us. Hard to argue that ANY team is hard pressed to beat us if Dennis is hittin like he has been and if Jake is hittin like he was earlier in the year. If they aren't, yes they would kill us.
I've decided to blindly assume Cosh is the next Chase Daniel (doosh face and all) and put all of my faith into him. Don't let me down, Cosh!
I don't like either of those possibilities. Cuse would destroy us.
I wouldn't be surprised if neither made it:
Aldrich
Anderson
James
Brackins
Collins
Dunn/Carter (similar to Clem/Pull)
Of the 2, I think the edge would go to Clemente, because he's been doing better in conference. There is never a given that the 2nd place team has someone on first team all-conference.
I think this game has a great chance of going down to the wire again. And when it does, KU is going to unconsciously relax, knowing they won last time (I'm a psych major, so I tend to overanalyze this aspect of the game. Forgive me). K-State will step up, knowing we didn't win last time. I think it's 50/50 at this point, and wouldn't be totally surprised if we won. Just overly ecstatic.
If this game goes down to the wire then we're in a shitty situation.
If we get 2nd in the Big XII, one of these guys will HAVE to be on the all-conference team. I think it will depend on whoever has a big game in Lawrence.
Also, Pullen has the intangible leadership quality as well, perhaps more so than Denis, so they both get points for that.
What do you base this off of?
I don't see Samuels starting. We already tried that this year. He makes a bigger impact on the game coming from the bench, plus I'm not sure how long Samuels would play on a game to game basis if he started due to the difficulty he has staying out of foul trouble. Also, if Samuels starts at the 4 and kelly is at the 5 we have a SMALL team, 6' 7" and 6' 8" and skinny at the 4-5. Dominique will NEVER start at the 2. We would have the nations worst ball handling starting 5 period. All you'd have to do is press us and we'd turn it over every other trip down the court. I think pullen, mcgruder, sutton, kelly, asprilla is the most likely combo, but I think you could see pullen stay at the 2 and either russell or more likely irving at the 1. I've heard quite a few rumblings of Asprilla being an NBA prospect, not to mention he averaged 14 and 9 as a freshman. Like a guy posted earlier, if Colon starts now, then a much better Asprilla starts next year.
I agree. However, I haven't seen Irving doing a great job as the 1. I just don't know any other option besides Russel, and I haven't seen him play a significant amount of time in a while.
Alright, I'm game.
I agree, with what you said being the only reason i could see pullen moving to the 1 because if he is at the 2 then irving or russell have to be there. So I see the most likely combo being 1=pullen, 2=mac.
