Cal wouldn't be any less deserving than Rutgers was.

maybe true, but you'd think they would have learned from adding rutgers. Guess they're ready to do it all over again.

27
twitter/x saying big 10 is looking at OR/WA/CAL/STAN. Cal would have to be the most undeserving school to get into a major conference of all time.

my first thought was "damn as a college athlete imagine how hard it would be to break all this news to your parents." But now it seems like the parents were a part of it? Just complete familial suicide.

29
As much as I wanted OR/WA, it makes sense the big 10 takes them now. We get the other 3, and hopefully movement is done for awhile.

Although the recent comments from FSU suggest they're interested in moving sooner than later.

"Per @dennisdoddcbs the 9 members will see the numbers - likely the best and final figures on their @pac12 media deal. Deal - Worth north of $25 million per year per team. At least 50% linear with @AppleTV as the tier 1 rights holder for everything and a sub. lic agreement with a linear partner."

If they get 25 mil and 50% linear that’d be an amazing deal pulled off by kliavkoff.

According to the linked page, FSU and Clemson are rumored to be joining the Big 10 with Oregon and Washington.  However, neither FSU or Clemson are in the AAU, so probably bullshit
Well (as broken before any news outlet on the planet when it happened), neither is NU

But they were when they joined.

Alright when’s this big meeting today

I'm not a very smart person, but PurpleOil has had some absolutely wild takes in the last 2 pages.

No to Oregon, WSU over UCONN, and Nebraska should give up 40+ mil/year to come back to the big 12.

34
i wonder how much nike is influencing oregon’s decision

I'd imagine Phil/the Knight family has considerable sway over oregon's decisions. If he wants to stay w West Coast teams, they're gonna stay.

35
Purp, I don't get you, man. Utah doesn't want to come. ASU would be redundant. And Wazzu, really? I'd rather have UCONN's basketball programs and market. And no one is getting kicked out, no matter how much we despise them. Plus, UCF is a better long-term play than UH.

yeah I don't want Utah. they've made it pretty clear they think they're above us. Wazzu is basically KSU/ISU/OSU with more financial problems, a smaller fan base, and less success.

UCF is good for FL recruiting, and maybe picking up a leftover florida ACC school in a few years.

36
I'm fine with Uconn. gets some major media markets in the NE and we'd have another bball blue blood. If bball becomes uncoupled from fball at some point and ncaa tourney revenue actually gets distributed in the future they'd be almost on par with mich/penn state

I think they’ll end up w/ a deal similar to the big 12, at least monetarily. Probably within $4 million-ish per school. They might have less traditional viewership, but seems like they’re pretty ok with that.

The conference office is going to be okay with that, the coaches and ADs certainly won't be.

At least publicly, everyone involved will declare it a win and move on. It will only matter once vierwership numbers actually hit.

Wish we got Houston at home. Otherwise, looks good to me.

had a complete trashcan weekend.

Fast food for the first time in probably 2 years. BBQ galore saturday night. Drank more than I have in quite some time. Fried breakfast + leftover bbq nachos on Sunday.

Absolute blast to not care about caloric intake, but my body is not happy about it rn.

This is only moderate 'canning, which makes true 'canners feel judged by you, despite this being a judgment-free zone. Leftover bbq nachos sounds delightful, though.

yeah, I'm merely an amateur 'canner. I have too weak a stomach to keep up with the pros, I have to just watch from the sidelines. I never meant to hurt anyone, I just wanted to be part of the game.

Your work has a pool?

Hmm no. Someone called 911 after they saw their neighbor get exploded.

Today at work someone unintentionally blew themselves up after mixing some pool chemicals incorrectly. This settled the debate w my wife about getting a pool.

Did he die from it?

Do not think he will die. Pretty severe injuries though.

Kansas State Football / Re: Holler for the Band!!
« on: July 03, 2023, 10:24:56 PM »
My high school had an incredible marching band, won all kinds of competitions, the director got tons of offers from colleges.  I think he was a demanding guy, but not a douche.  But it seems like lots of band directors are douches.

Not that I really care all that much, but they built a special area for the K-State band, and put them in a place where the whole stadium could hear them, and at moments during the game hearing them is a good.  But he moved the band right back to where for a good portion of the stadium, the band is just some droning down below.   :dunno:

Are there any quotes as to why they moved back to the stupid section?

Tracz never wanted to be in that section then when student ticket sales started to really tank it made the choice to give in to Tracz and move the band back a very easy call. Before they moved the band back there were many games where section 28 was straight empty, not kind of empty but completely empty.

I don't think the band will ever go back. I'd like to see us convert that space into another premium seating area instead of the ga spillover it currently is.

IMO the band belongs in the NEZ directly behind the endzone. Would be best acoustics for everyone.

Make the student section smaller by 1/2 a section to make up for the added seats from the band.

Agreed, both EZ corners should be premium seating. Find a way to retro fit some loge boxes in the NE corner and call it good. crap, I’d buy those seats if they could figure out a way to get some shade over there.

collin is a christian which makes children of the lower order very anxious not being able to understand beyond the breath of their feelings in the shower.

Nobody has an issue with Collin being a Christian. Lots of people, myself included, have issue with Collin appearing to endorse those who don't adhere to the teachings of the Bible and who use Christianity as a political weapon to discriminate against others.

0 issue with Christianity, 0 issue with weirdo holier than thou christians(for the most part). I do have an issue with this growing sect of Christianity that believes in child abuse and spousal submission. It definitely seems likely that Klein grew up in this sort of household. I hope he’s no longer a part of that culture.

49
Just finished the documentary on the Duggar family/their weird sect of “Christianity”. Makes me very concerned as to what Klein is into, guessing he’s a part of the same organization. Yikes.

My personal experience, which does not negate anyone else's:

Dr. Tracz is an incredibly hard working guy with high standards, and emotional immaturity. He had a quick temper and would get angry from time to time. One time to me he told me "I wish you'd stop being so goddamn lazy" after I did an assignment incorrectly in conducting class. I had done the assignment, just not in the correct way. It was my mistake, but come on, I misread one step. That being said, I never saw him cross a line to what I would consider abusive, however that's my experience and not everyone else's.

Sounds like a pretty standard interaction with him. Honestly he was way less abusive than my HS music teacher so I didn’t think it was much of an issue at the time.
