There's a good basketball hiding within Dejuan Gordon, I just know it. It'll kill me if he flames out.

52
Does Dejuan Gordon suck as bad as the box score indicates?

53
Does selton look as good as the box score indicates?

The thing is, you can't get rid of oscar and then take a gamble on some unknown commodity who very well might (and probably will) be less successful. You'd need a slam dunk. Not a lot of options there.

This is why Illini fans were so sad for us. It's so hard to fire oscar Weber. And having him as your coach just isn't very much fun.

55
My favorite talking point is Kelvin Sampson's age, like oscar isn't 64 years old or something.

I would do horrible things if it meant we could have Kelvin Sampson as our basketball coach. Anybody hedging about him is rough ridin' stupid. We would be lucky to have him, but our AD doesn't have the balls to go out and get a guy like him. Prove me wrong, Gene! You rough ridin' hill person!

56
I don't like any of our options. Keeping oscar rough ridin' sucks, the vast majority of the coaches mentioned in this thread rough ridin' suck, and our AD won't have the nuts to go after the ones that don't. Existence is suffering. Especially if you're a K-State basketball fan.

57
I mean, it's probably about 97% chance that oscar is still coaching the Cats for the next 2-3 years at least. Right?

yes, absolutely. People pretending otherwise is strange. I mean, could it happen? Like, yeah, 3% isn't zero, but we can say with a bunch of confidence that nothing he does this year can get him fired.

58
6 wins (Kenny's projection)... take the over or the under.

I took the over on seven with a friend yesterday...before the game.

59
the team isn't going winless in the big 12, you goofs.  good grief.

Thank you.

First, he won't go 0-fer. Second, yeah, even if he did. Just chalk it up to covid and 2020, oscar has a proven track record, etc. He's not getting fired, you guys.

whomst are we going to beat? not gEing here

I'm not sure, but it's so hard to go 0-fer, there will be teams that covid hits hard, oscar is a pretty decent coach, there's a lot of reasons we'll beat someone. Chance being a big one as well. We'll get hot at some point.

61
If he goes 0-fer, and doesn't achieve above average results with this freshman class by the time they're juniors, I could see him moving on at that point.

You all are way underestimating the goodwill that oscar has with the money people. He beats KU sometimes, he has a couple ships, he does it the "right" way and will never have a scandal. He's going to get 2-3 more years to get these last two classes up and running. I suppose if it all crashes and burns and they all transfer or something it could happen. But outside of another mutiny, oscar has another 2-3 years to achieve some semi respectable results, and if he does then he'll get another cycle to do the same. And honestly, that's probably the right thing to do. We should have hired Brad when we had the chance, but oscar is probably a better option than most for us right now.

64
I’d argue this could be a high point in KSU basketball history.

Nah because we'll go cheap and shitty. Watch Korn win the regular season OVC and turn that into the job here.

I want to be angry at you for even suggesting this, but the feeling in the bottom of my stomach tells me this is what we'll end up doing.

Gene is going to fire oscar and bring in a SLTH, he will do better than Korn good grief.

Lol, he's not going to fire oscar.

Is nobody concerned that we're going to turn over like a quarter of our roster to transfers this year? Seems bad. Way more concerned about that than sub-optimal recruiting.

66
Turns out having players that can hit three point shots is important.

67
Man, we rough ridin' suck right now.

68
EZ is averaging like four turnovers per game. I do not like this guy.

I've seen enough flashes from different guys to feel like this team could be pretty good the next 2-3 years after this year. Kind of depends on Dejuan Gordon eventually playing somewhere close to his billing though. This is definitely oscar's toughest coaching job, but maybe the second or third highest ceiling out of all the groups of kids he's coached.

Which is all his fault...

Oh, absolutely. He should get zero sympathy for the situation he's in right now.

In a pretty significant way, his coaching job with kam, barry, and Dean was easier, because we didn't really have much talent outside of that. They knew they were the guys, and the staff could focus on their development. Right now it's such a cluster eff with a bunch of pretty talented kids, none of which have defined roles, and with little idea of who has the highest ceiling. This year is going to be painful. But, if oscar is a decent coach, which I think he probably is, we'll go into next year with the chance to win a lot of games, and probably a couple fewer players from this class still on the team.

...very freshman-y, but the talent/size is there I think...I'm concerned about D Gordon's lack of shooting...

Yeah, we're in the weird position of having a bunch of probably pretty good but not elite young players on our team with no older guys to help them along. I'm not sure it's going to look good until it does, if that makes sense.

Guys, EZ is really bad at basketball, why did he play so much today? I like Murphy, Gordon, and bradford quite a bit down low. This guy sucks crap and played the most out of all of them though.
He played with one eye the entire second half

oscar had a choice of playing any number of two eyed humans. And EZ missed most of the shots he shouldn't have taken in the first half.

I like the potential of some of these young cats. oscar may have done a decent job with the last couple of classes.
