"Obviously the last game bothers us. It's going to to sit here until next year and you're going to think back and you can't figure it out"

   :flush:

"There's an art to scheduling. Coach (Gene) Keady told me a long time ago -- and I thought he was crazy --scheduling might be more more important than recruiting, and in some aspects it is"

It takes a little less than a year for the residue of toughness to wear off. With Mike Anderson and Frank Martin's residue wearing off their respective former teams in back to back years in approximately the same amount of time, I think we can finally put this one to rest. ~1 year

On ESPN Unite, Kid Prez picked Wisky and Steve Carell said that Willie looks like his mother-in-law. Dicks.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / The tipping point...
« on: March 08, 2013, 08:05:09 PM »
I feel like we've come to a crossroads in our basketball program's future. If we can bring home a title tomorrow, there is a chance that flashing some recent hardware could help us land a solid '14 class. I'm not very optimistic of us becoming a perennial contender anytime soon without having a good haul in '14. There are just too many big holes to fill in that class, if we blow it then oscar probably won't ever achieve sustained success at K-State. If oscar flames out at K-State it won't set us back to the Wooly years, but the job will look a lot like ISU's during the McNeck years...really rough ridin' mediocre. Tomorrow could be a good tool to help oscar bring that class together. I know that you get a lot more run on TV by making a move in the tourney, but if you can sell a kid that you are starting to compete with Kansas for the league, then you have shot to do some damage on the recruiting trail. oscar carries a sissy-looking gun, he needs all the ammo he can get his hands on, and loading a bullet in the chamber that has Big XII champs written on the side sure can't hurt. Let's hope we win tomorrow, and that contributes to a happy ending for KSU hoops, because I just can't go back to being irrelevant guys...I just can't. Every Man A Wildcat.

Essentially Flyertalk / JJ's on the Plaza just blew up...
« on: February 19, 2013, 06:25:35 PM »
about 20 minutes ago, there was an explosion and it felt like the windows of my apartment were going to shatter, and I looked out the window and saw that JJ's was engulfed in flames. Scary stuff.

33
Serious question, I mean they scored 13 points in the first half against the worst Big XII team of all time. I'm too embarrassed to TSC right now.

34
Are we seeing a premonition of our future whilst watching Frank Haith ruining the Mizzou basketball program this year? I think the scary thing is that Haith has better players than oscar will have next year (minus the point guard). Thoughts?

35
I mean, it's just so disheartening. I understand he has terrible hands, and commits too many silly fouls, but Nino is shorter than Nancy Reagan and gets called for about two illegal screens every game. So, wouldn't you rather have the guy who change the way the other team plays offense and can occasionally rebound the basketball if all other things are equal?

Everything is about Will in their world. No mention of winning games, just a lot of gum flapping about how he isn't a total piece of crap. Oh yeah, Shannon threw Frank under the bus again for good measure. Hey guess what Shannon? Your kid is still playing like crap this year even though oscar is super-nice to him and stuff. Sorry if luked.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Big 10 basketball

Seriously, this is SO boring. No wonder oscar lost interest in coaching before he came to the super-elite/exciting Big XII  :ksu:

Bread, is this the kind of stuff oscar Weber did at Illinois to trick you into liking him at first?

Lots has been made about the adjustment to oscar's motion offense, but what about our transition to oscar's style of defense. Although I hate all of oscar's intrinsic values (love of chicken nuggets, squeaky voice, constant ball cupping), I think he's done a marvelous job to get Frank's players to play his style of defense without a dropoff (the lone exception being JO). Thoughts from HBBIQers?

did anyone else notice that the Pokes had some weird flops? Like, not when there would be any chance of a foul called, just randomly away from the ball. I wonder if Weird Robert snuck into their locker room and mumped with their shoes or something...OR maybe they're so athletic that shoes just aren't advanced enough yet to allow them to do the things that they are capable of...  :dunno:

Win or lose, this board is going to be great over the next 3 months  :emawkid:

Our offense looks like an abortion right now. oscar has clearly instructed Angel not to take the ball to the hoop as much. That is rough ridin' stupid. The only reason we won the GW game is because Angel said "Eff it" and took the ball to the hole relentlessly. Our guards outside of Angel basically dribble the ball around the arc, passing it sometimes, and try to avoid getting their pocket picked because there is no way in hell they are beating their man off the dribble. New plan. Angel, don't let the other guards touch the ball (maybe McGruder when he has a favorable matchup.) Go to the hole or feed the ball to one of our bigs on the block. Big men, either make a strong move to the hoop (preferably with a pump fake since none of our guys can jump) or if you get doubled, send it out to the corner where Will will be standing (this is all Will should ever do, stand in the corner). Rodney, you can't dribble the ball, stop trying to do that as much. Rod needs to live at the elbow where he can shoot jumpers, dribble once and then elevate for a floater, or crash the boards for trash points. If your guy doesn't bite on our post when he gets the ball, then make him pay by cutting to the hoop and putting the help defender on a poster. Don't stray from this strategy whatever you do. Because if you do, we will continue playing offense like we have been...poorly. Obviously this is an over-simplification of what needs to happen, but I think the general theory here is solid.

Kansas State Football / How pumped would we be right now...
« on: November 07, 2012, 11:37:09 PM »
if Klein hadn't gotten dinged in the last game. If Klein had stayed in the game, thus never giving OSU any hope at all, and we go onto to put up 50+ and beat them by 30...I mean we would all be  and discussing whether we going to beat TCU by 30 or 40 on Saturday. I think we will all feel foolish when we go into TCU and beat the eff out of those pretenders on Saturday. I mean we've got  :bill: Come on Cats, let's get jacked.

All the games (including exhibition games) from last year are available to watch. Is there something in our new agreement that prevents this from happening? Super pissed at total bad person John Currie  :chainsaw:

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Angel = Leader

Does it make me a bad person to think that Angel is going to turn into Jake and take over games when the going gets tough? Seems like he would be good at yelling at and encouraging teammates. Thoughts?

I was taking a midday nap when I fell into a dream. We were playing Texas Tech the week after we beat OU on the road (factually inaccurate? yes, I know). Except we weren't playing at the Bill, we were playing at some weird community field in Manhattan, where you couldn't even see the score that clear, because lots of the light bulbs on the scoreboard were out. There were tons of open seats (this should have let my unconscious know right there and then that this was all bullshit and totally not real) and instead of the Cat's Closet, there was one of those country home-stores that smells like your grandma's house x1000. As the seconds wound down and we were still losing, the bitch in the fake Cat's Closet told me I needed to leave, because I was blocking the entrance. I think she really asked me to leave, because I was smoking a cig, I totally wasn't anywhere near the entrance. Anyway, so I had that weird dream inside of a dream thing happen, and I wake up into another dream, and was all like, "whew, it was just a dream!! " Then I realized that Kentucky was putting it on us pretty bad  :runaway: (Kentucky? Weird right?) Then I ACTUALLY woke up, and was like, "Holy balls, we didn't lose!!!"  :ksu: I felt like George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life" when he realizes that he's not dead anymore, it was literally the scariest feeling on earth followed by the best feeling on earth. This is the moral Cat fans...don't take this season for granted. In the words of Hunter S Thompson, "We'd be fools not to ride this strange torpedo to the end." Go Cats!

Kansas State Football / Confession/Great Idea
« on: September 23, 2012, 02:57:10 PM »
So, I have never been to an official goEMAW pak, which makes me super sad  :bawl: But, I have a great idea to remedy this situation. We should all take the next two weeks off of school/work/sittingonourasses and get super drunk, order pizza shuttle for every meal, watch classic KSU games, and play the crap out of some NCAA '13. We could rent out a ballroom at the Clarion to accommodate our two week long emaw-orgy (we'll need lots of hookers to satisfy our ultrahigh EMAW libidos). The person who beats KU by the most points in '13 would get a super-sweet customized trophy, then on the day of the game we'll do tons of blow and sprint all the way to the stadium like 8 hours early and tip over the KU bus and then instead of going in the ticket gates, we would climb the walls of The Bill like Vikings hopped up on speed, and then calmly walk to our seat like badasses  :gocho:

Kansas State Football / Best QB in the Big XII
« on: September 23, 2012, 12:34:09 AM »
Fox poll has Geno Smith squarely in the lead because of lfbiq fans (squaks, tiggers, et al). But, here is what Fescoe tweeted this past December "With the addition of Crist kufball has the best Qb in the big 12 assuming of course landry Jones goes pro"...maybe he would like to cast his vote for the chamber now that he realizes that Crist is shooting blanks and Jones is shooting himself in the foot  :dunno:

"Block it or Lockett 2012" would be a great slogan for our punt return unit.
