Kansas State Football / season ticket talk
« on: May 20, 2019, 10:41:59 AM »
I just renewed and my anecdotal evidence is that season tickets will be down pretty significantly because I got over in to Section 2 after not making the season ticket renewal deadline and they had multiples together all over the place.

Anyone else getting tickets this year?  Shout out your section!

I am listening to Hard Knock Life and I don’t think I can actually blast this in my neighborhood.

What are the boos and jams and anthems for my grill and chill?

Essentially Flyertalk / Detroit thread
« on: November 25, 2018, 10:41:25 AM »
Rusty's will certainly get more action, but there is enough room around here (particularly in the middle of a blizzard) for some great stories of Detroit and its wonderful people.

This one is an absolute delight, aggrieved small business owner takes on the mayor!

Quote
Robert Carmack is on the warpath — with Mayor Mike Duggan in his sights.

The 59-year-old collision shop owner seems like an unlikely adversary for the Detroit mayor. But in the last week, Carmack has shown the gumption to dig into Duggan's personal life and expose whatever he finds.

He pulled off a brazen stunt recently, airing surveillance footage of Duggan on two giant monitors outside city hall during the nighttime rush hour. The footage, which appeared to show Duggan visiting a woman’s house after hours, prompted the mayor and his wife to issue a statement defending their marriage.

....

“He’s in for a fight. Don’t mess with the bull, you’ll get the horn,” Carmack said between swigs of Miller Genuine Draft. “He’s a suburbian gangster. They don’t fit in in our town. We’ll kick his ass back to Livonia.”

How much is your water bill?

Mine was $59.71 this month.  No idea if this is good or bad, I pay it just the same.

Greetings fellow Millenial Youngsters!  I am Kat Kid, goEMAW's Youth Outreach Coordinator!

We have received some feedback regarding our blog community.  I wanted to address the concerns, and reassure everyone:

WE HEAR YOU!

We always want to find ways to improve and what better way than partnering with you, to make goEMAW your #1 K-State sports blog!

One thing that we want to direct your attention to is our ksufans.com archive and search features.  We look at this blog as a community, but also like a written record of K-State fandom.  Much like the walls adorned with the scrawled likeness of a a buffalo and a lion in Lascaux cave, it can be jolting to descend in to the darkness of the bbs and to truly understand the art and form of things when your eyes have only seen the workings of things above ground.  So get out your spelunking tools and grab a miner’s helmet and get all up in dat ass! LOL!

A second issue that we’ve noticed is that there are bad posters posting too much.

Another issue that we have come across is that the good posters aren’t posting as much any more.  Not sure if this is related, but it should require some further study.

Our recommendation for right now, is to read through your own posts and do a self-evaluation.  We will be collecting these self-evaluations and then doing a random sampling with our audit team to do some scoring to determine which quartile of posters you are in and then making individual recommendations.

We also reserve the right to “call out” shitty posters and use “dank memes” like “WHAT ARE THOSE?!” to discourage you from posting, to “OWN YOU” and “for the lulz”

Lastly, I want to address the slow server or whatever. We have no rough ridin' idea how any of it works and are just as perplexed as you.

Once again, WELCOME!  and GO EMAW!

Sincerely,
Kat Kid

Kansas State Football / Baylor situation gets worse

Attorneys in a sexual assault lawsuit against Baylor University say they’ve obtained records that suggest a former Baylor interim president told an administrator to delete emails related to the suit.
The allegation was in a motion, filed Wednesday, and is the latest development in a federal civil rights lawsuit in which several women have accused the Waco-based university of repeatedly mishandling, ignoring or stifling claims of sexual and physical abuse of students.

The attorneys for the 10 women claim in the motion that they’ve obtained an email that shows that then-interim President David Garland wrote to a “high-level Baylor athletics official” and told him, “I would erase the emails.”

Kansas State Football / gE Ownership Announcement
« on: January 03, 2018, 11:18:54 AM »
This blog was created for buds to have free speech, free of charge, and also to pak.

We have mostly accomplished that, we and even got ‘clams to come to Manhattan a couple times and have never sought to profit from this site. We expressly set up our ownership structure to prevent profit driving decisions.

Somehow, despite our best efforts, we managed to kick ass and make money through our ads.

The passing of Shawn “Fatty” Alkhatib led us all to find a common cause to rally around as we continue our efforts to raise funds to dedicate a study room in Hale Library in his memory. Toward that end, we are proud to announce that goEMAW has donated $5,700 to help make this a reality.

Look, we are far from perfect. If we would’ve listened to Pete like two years ago and invested in Bitcoin, we could’ve built a new library for Shwan. But, in the end, we did the right thing. If you would like to learn more about the greatest EMAW legend we have ever known go here.

Happy New Year,
goEMAW ownership group

Kansas State Football / Tax bill effect on Ahearn Fund
« on: November 17, 2017, 11:57:32 AM »
Both the House and Senate Tax bills eliminate the deduction for seat donations. Not sure if there would be an obvious work around simply using the current or a modified Ahean points system.

If this is eliminated for every school, seems like it would hurt us quite a bit more than others as we don't have a large t-shirt fan base and our stadium relies on suite revenue as a large percentage because our capacity is so low. No clue how worried we should be, but this seems pretty bad.

All that said it could be worse. We just completed an absurd amount of infrastructure and most of it was paid for. For comparison sake, this could absolutely crater KU's efforts to raise funds for stadium renovations as a big chunk of the way schools pay for these is securing donations tied to the new seats/suites.

Thoughts?

Kansas State Football / Help John Currie Hire A Football Coach
« on: November 03, 2017, 12:50:14 PM »
I think Mike Riley has been put in to an impossible position at Nebraska. They are a fading power and they have not given him the resources to be successful. Mike Riley is absolutely universally held in high regard around College Football unlike the current coah who is (yes, let's face it) a potty-mouthed cheater.

Mike Riley is absolutely the man to come in and clean up things in Knoxville.

Just listen to these quotes!
