I think this is the most overvalued draft picks will ever be, and we should trade as many as we can for SP prospects that don't confirmed suck. Because if we draft SP's they will definitely suck.

99% sure you cannot trade draft picks in baseball, but i don't disagree with you. we should have fire sold the big 3 last year instead of trading for dudes.

Royals have one of the most draft allotments in baseball this year. They may have four first round picks already have two for their Cain supplemental pick A and their regular draft pick in first round. May have two more with moose and Hosmer. 5 top 50 picks is possible for the 2018 draft, this will help the rebuilding of the farm system. But have to draft well.

we are going to end up signing Hosmer, and Moose is going to end up signing a 3/30 or something stupid and we won't get any picks for him leaving us with only 3 in the top 50

Chelsea lost to Bournmouth 3-nil yesterday lol. what a weird season for everyone but City.

KU FANS SMELL FUNY HA HA-the sign you should make imo

Arsenal beat Chelsea in the semis of the league cup.

and found a club that wants him

That's the biggest WTF for me. I think the number of MLS teams that would sign him is less than 5, I can't think of one actually.
Idk what they’re paying him but I bet whatever it is turns out to be a great business decision. His jersey is flying off the shelves, and no club in the history of LX has ever received the amount of English language coverage in America.

58
good for LD. If this is something he's always wanted to do and he feels he can still do it and found a club that wants him, then good for him. also a major LOL for going with the number 20.

UCF could be a legit program down the road. Almost certainly not worth investment at this point, but I would have taken them over TCU in a heartbeat.
UCF nor USF have any business being in the Big XII, but both would have been better adds than TCU. TCU added absolutely nothing of value to the Big XII and was just a panic add by the idiots who were calling the shots back then.

If that is seriously your take, then we should absolutely take the florida schools because TCU is a great member now.

They help the image of the Big 12 as a strong football conference but I think scott means that they don't add anything financially because OU and UT already deliver the DFW media market.

That is exactly what I meant, and I thought as a website we were a million miles past the idea that realignment is about how good football teams are. If that is what it was about Boise would have had a power conference home, we would have added Houston or Memphis this last go around. TCU is a tiny private school in a city we already dominate. I stand 100% behind my original statement now and will forever. It’s the exact same reason why Baylor never should have been included in the conference.

this is one of the worst KU teams in quite a few years. yes it is winnable. no we probably won't, but even with as bad as we are, all it'll take is a hot shooting game for us, and a cold one for them.

i had a good time watching the game last night and i am glad they won.

Gonzalez is choosing El Tri over the USMNT in a devastating blow that will be a kick in the nuts for the next 12+ years.

I have a very hard time giving two shits about this.

What I am pissed about is Tim Melia getting left out of this shitty January camp.

you don't give two shits about an 18 year old who was a starter for the Copa MX winners, and in the Liga MX best XI who has been in the US Youth set up since he was 14 deciding to file a one time switch to our biggest rival in world soccer,  yet you're pissed about a meaningless January Camp that is comprised of like 28/30 players being like under the age of 24? okay...

Was I unclear?

no you were clear, but i guess i'm just in shock that someone who I think is a pretty smart person and is capable of big picture thinking is more worked up over a GK who is 31 not getting called into a meaningless January camp filled with young players than you are over the US losing one of the best young midfield players in the world.

We are working on finding a date in March that works for both of us

Well, this is certainly an interesting realignment proposal:
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/heres-radical-new-college-football-playoff-plan-possibly-end-complaining-022518359.html

We add 4 teams, play in two divisions.  One can debate the additions to the Big 12, but it is certainly an entertaining proposal.

trash proposal. I agree a lot with what MIR points out. Also articles like that are stupid because there is no all-powerful deciding body that can force conferences to add teams or how they force how they make schedules.

When the current TV deal is up, the playoff will expand to 8. Instead of stupid weird realignment scenarios if the media really wants a school like UCF to get in they and the G5 schools need to begin to lobby and even get politicians on their side so that when it expands to 8 they have at least one locked in spot.

MLS is such a pain in the ass to be a fan of.  I just want to root for teams/players.  I don't want to do the math on allocation money, the international player order or whatever else.  On that note, its a pain in the ass the SKC has lost 3 players I liked in the past year and 3 of our better offensive players on a team that struggles for offense.  Maybe we'll bring in some stud but even then, I won't have a rough ridin' clue who the guy is and have to wait to see him produce in a few games before I give a crap.

i am not going to argue against this, but this is the best system MLS can use to compete in the international market for players, and still have a salary cap system. I don't want MLS to get rid of the salary cap as i fear it'd turn into a league similar to all of the others in the world where there will be a massive gap between contenders, middle of the pack, and bottom feeders.

Just money?

I know his real value has slipped a lot over the last two seasons, but that seems too cheap to let him go.  The front office needs to get moving making some splashes with a quickness, IMO.

as discussed with Dom's sale, Allocation money is far more valuable to Sporting than a sale outside of MLS and getting a 2 million dollar fee. Benny was 32 and coming to the end of a contract. This was a great move as long as they are confident in Yohan Croizet. Sporting has stock piled Allocation money to give them far more flexibility in roster building than any other franchise in MLS given the business model MLS opperates in.

70
Benny sold to LAFC for 400k allocation money. They must really like that new DP.

crisis averted. now...where will will honas sign?

was never coming here. He's always been the Hawkeye's to lose, and they may lose him to Frost and UNL.

73
Nashville will be joining in 2019  :Woohoo:

74
Fun to see the league completely over two weeks before Christmas :flush: should be a positively dull five months

according to the set of MLS pro/rel truthers the relegation race is so exciting and gets so much tv viewership that it'd cancel off any lost franchise value if a team gets relegated.

You guys give up on MLS?

This has been an insane week. SAS traded and I'm pissed about it. How many more years are they expecting to get out of Zusi? Then they sign a DP, who looks like an eventual replacement for Benny. I'm confused, are we replacing core players or not?

I also want to talk about these additions, Khiry Shelton and this French DP. Why do we keep adding these projects? Why can other clubs sign bonafied goal scorers, sure fire guys, but we can't? Nicolic, Martinez, Almiron, Villalba, Ola Kamara, Mendunjanin, etc. are all dudes we could have had. Is the ownership cheap, are the scouts bad, both?

i just am not on message boards much anymore. I'm sorry.

I think for whatever our ownership/scouting department/PV thinks that buying high priced strikers are not worth the money. I think they've found guys on the cheap to bang in goals/found guys in the draft int he past. Trading SAS was a bit surprising but i wouldn't go as far as saying i'm pissed. i think we will be able to get along with Zusi being a quality defender in MLS for another year or two. I haven't done enough research on this french dude to say if i like that move or not. Fact of the matter is Benny out of all the core players this past year was the worst and the most needed guy to be replaced from the likes of Matt, Zusi, Roger, Benny. There is still tons of time in the off season and a lot of GAM/TAM to be spent. I'm crushed Latif is gone. That made me very sad.
