Here's some blue sky AND green trees for you assholes.  Those mountains are the Tetons, for you losers who never leave your concrete jungle.

Schreds let the haters hate and just sit there drinking their haterade. I love that you went there in weird months and I would totally go there in weird cold dead months too because even though a lot of it looks dreary it still looks beautiful to this VQ'r.
I'm just gonna keep posting a few pics every day until I go Questing again in a few weeks.  Still waiting on that Pakhead so I can post fish pics.

all those trees are brown in every pic
Yes, the beetle infestation decimated the white bark pines in this region.  Some people are saying this is one reason the grizzlies are ranging farther and farther as the white bark pine nut is one of their primary food sources.

I just really hope I never have to tangle with one of these things, armed or not.  Saw this sow and her 2 cubs just a couple of miles from Wind River Lake

A couple of pics of Brooks lake.  If someone would show me how to Pakhead, I will post the pic of Schreds' Dad and the 24" Rainbow he caught out of here.  Also has Lake Trout and Splakes.  I have yet to catch a laker though.  Lots of camping areas here although the last two years they have not allowed tent camping due to grizzly activity and timber falls.  As you can see in the pics, there was significant beetle kill in this area.  They have been logging this area pretty heavily the last couple years.  We'll see if they let the tents back in this year.

Wolves tend to avoid people.  Bears avoid nothing.

This is my favorite place to fish up there.  There are not many people that know this lake even exists, and half of them don't know how to find it.  I always just set my rod down for a while and take in the peacefulness and remoteness of this place.....and that is hard to do when you are catching 3-4 pound brook trout.

Looks like that dude found it.

Thank God, cause that's the guy that showed me where it is.

saw wolf tracks

Did they look like this? (the track, not the shoe)

Yes but in creek side mud.  I'm more afeared of bears honestly.

Me too.  They still leave a big damn track though.  Haven't gotten to see an actual wolf yet.

At least half of those bulls are 6 points or better.  :sdeek:

Yeah, I wish I would have had a real camera and not just my phone.  The pics don't do them justice.  That is just a small portion of the bulls that were out there.

Here's a few more reasons to go in the Winter:

The Tetons, with fog coming up off of the Snake River

Elk refuge at Jackson

schreds I'd like to buy you a beer sometime (no homo).
That would be fantastic.  Would love to swap stories and pics.

Did you see those BHS fight?
Nope.  Wrong time of year for that.  They were all just buddied up Pak'n

Why would you go there in February?
Why not?
I had some extra time off work so me, my buddy, and Schred's Dad went out there for a week.  Had never been out there in the winter so we just decided to go.  Did a little ice fishing, drove over to Jackson and saw all the elk in the refuge, drove around just looking for game.  It's a great time to see wildlife since they are all down low.  How often do you get within 20 yards of a bachelor group of Bighorn Sheep with two legal rams in it?  It was a great time.

941
Ran into these guys when I was out there last Feb.  This is SE of Dubois.  They have the largest concentration of Bighorn sheep in N America there.

Here are a couple from Wind River Lake.  It is a small lake that sits on the continental divide at Togwotee Pass.  The Wind River starts here.  Good Cutthroat fishing and a few Rainbows.

They will all be from Wyoming.  Northwest Fremont County

Ok.  I finally figured out how to post pics (Thanks @Hating Francis!).  Now I just need the pakhead!
This is Lake Louise.  Pretty easy 2-3 hour roundtrip hike (4 if you're with Mrs Schreds)  Did not fish, but breathtakingly beautiful.

Which unit is that?  I was actually looking into that part of the state earlier this year.  Applied for the general with 1 point and didn't draw. :(
We drew in unit 67.  If all you want is a Cow/calf, success rate is high.  Three of us applied and all 3 drew tags.

947
I also drew a cow elk tag for that area so will be going on an elk hunting excursion in Nov.

Will be making my annual Wyoming quest in less than a month.  Can't wait!

Whereabouts do you go schreds21?  What do you do? :users:
Dubois.  About 60 mi east of Jackson.  Spend the week hiking, sight seeing, fishing the Wind River and other creeks and lakes in the area.  Mrs Schreds loves to ride horses so we usually spend a day on a trail ride.  It's not too bad because we usually ride in remote areas that you can't access by vehicle.  Absolutely love it up there.  If I was smart enough to use the pak head on faces, I would post some pics.

I have a Ruger SR45 that I really enjoy shooting.  Any of the Ruger SR models would be good, fairly inexpensive handguns to purchase, especially for target shooting.
