michigan state...is totally mumped. as they should be.

i also enjoyed the tech road game last year, where barry flailed at the rim, got hammered, and oscar stood, mouth agape, and then got a t to seal the loss. that was fun.

warm up hot rough ridin' stove, boys...

it'll be seiler

His players are fearless vs KU.

this is actually a really good one. i also like he has the totally butthurt little bro syndrome thing down pat with self. it's perfect for us/me/our fanbase.

55
taking off the white t-shirt and showing off the guns has also been a strong correlation to dean feeling himself and playing well

Lol, TCU is ugly because they have an albino. dur dur dur. Everything shut the eff up and talk about playing TCU.

What's this guy's deal?

Boy, do I feel put in my place. I'll stop saying what I know is right and let you dictate my beliefs from here on out. In MIR I trust.

It's a great, fun league. Best I've ever seen.

in what way?

Everyone can beat everyone.

Young is the best player I've seen in a long time.

I said Young was the best player back in early December. It's just that none of us were watching the Cats beat ATandT Central back then.

And so it’s a good night, from the happiest place on earth... Manhattan, Kansas.

I was in a restaurant in Tucson, AZ watching this. 13 years old. Walked out of there in tears of joy with my dad. My aunt and uncle met us there on their way back to Phoenix (it was a long time ago/details are sketchy), and my uncle walks up to my dad and I outside the restaurant and goes, "Sorry you guys lost." And we just laughed our butts off at him. I believe Trim also once told me he was blacked out on the field harassing Eric Crouch in the closing seconds. Hopefully he can confirm this.

fun thread. diarra being better than kam feels very bill esque.

Still too many minutes for the bigs but this was a step in the right direction. We did see the big flaw in going small with Dean's foul trouble. We have no idea how to defend on the interior, I also don't understand not going zone after Dean picked up his third.

I don't really get what your agenda is. I think you are a just a bball guy, so I respect you choosing to focus on the play and not the greater context. But this team is mediocre. Just like the 3 past seasons. And oscar is not good. And we will never be good with oscar. And finding silver linings when we just lost to what used to be the worst team in the conference until they hired a real coach is whatever, man.

62
as someone who did not watch the game, did kam get hurt? why did diarra play so much?

Quote
Q: Do you have an impression of Coach Weber?

A: Yeah. (Laugh) Whenever I’m on the court, whether the play has to deal with me or not, he’s like, “KAAAAAAMMM! KAAAAAAMMM!” Then I turn around to answer, say, “What?” And he doesn’t say anything sometimes. But then sometimes he’ll tell me to tell other players to do this - he could have called their names, too! But I know where he’s coming from - I’m the point guard, the leader, so he wants me to be that coach on the floor.

This is hilarious. I honestly here him do it to Barry way more than anyone else.

I'm going full rusty here, no more Mawein, Sallah, or Stockard. They really don't serve a purpose on this team, it isn't their fault. Those minutes should be given to Diarra, Wainwright, and Patrick.

I think we need 8.

Kam, Barry, Wade, Sneed of course.

Wainright, Diarra.

Patrick I suppose, but I don't see him as much more valuable than the bigs if he can't hit shots.

Mawein and Stockard seem to have "earned" any minutes for true bigs to this point. I didn't even think Stockard was terrible against WVU, besides finishing around the rim. I'll take his 6 boards. I also think Mawein has a couple good games (like 10 and 6) in him in Big 12 play.

I know they are different parts, but I like Patrick more than Diarra. Cartier doesn't bring much more than another ball handler. Patrick is a better shooter and I think he has the athletic ability to rebound decently from a g/f spot we'd need if we went small.

the little i've watched, stockard brings some energy but his shots and touch were bad yesterday. diarra has been worse than i thought. he dribbles around and passes off to a better player. pinning hopes on patrick at this point is mostly just hoping one of these guys who hasn't proven to be terrible due to lack of playing time emerges and becomes serviceable. we are what we are.

I wouldn't classify talk about the 8th player in the rotation as pinning hopes on anything.

That's fair. My comment was predicated on _Fan saying we needed 8.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: The Un-Foul
« on: January 03, 2018, 03:11:40 AM »
Did you not watch the broadcast? Manzer described why pretty well. Also they were able to reverse the call using replay because it was a flagrant foul not a common foul. They changed that rule last year or the year before.

So, I have no skin in this game and they beat us because they are better coached and better in general. But, you can overturn a flagrant but not a regular foul? Well, it looked like a flagrant, but, crap, it was nothing. WV ball. As opposed to we mumped up a slapping foul on the permitter, but there ain't crap we can do about it? Bball refereeing is weird..

Kansas State Football / Re: Ron Prince Stories!

When I think of Ron Prince, "old school" is the first attribute that comes to mind.

cheating on all your significant others and being a total wildman. can't take the junction city out of the boy. true story, i saw ronnie at the jc cracker barrel right after his mom died. he was with some random squeeze. believe it was the weekend of the 2014 ou game bc i visited kansas for that. 17 degrees and an 11 am kick. beat ice off the seats in the top row east side. emaw.

Must be different game bc 2014 OU was in Norman

you're correct. 2013 in mhk. was the waters to lockett game where we lost 41-31.

Don't we still have Strickland? I just want a big body WR.

i thought i read on the foundation that strickland left. i dunno. that receiving corps doesn't look too hot to me, but who knows who could emerge. taylor being allowed to play would be fun.

We have right now 4 exceptional players who can compete with anyone in the league, and if all 4 have a good game we have a chance to win.  Do you all think that Brown and Stokes were just having an  off night?  At the game it looked like he decided to guard the heck out of them to limit the amount of points from them.  Wade and Sneed had decent games.

The remainder of the team is abysmal (not good, frozen gravy, hot cat belch).  It is apparent Oscar and  his band of Merry Wieners cannot coach or recruit quality  big men.   Mawien and Sallah are athletes, but whoopy doo.  I would take the big bulldozer Hungarian razzlin looking kid WVU had over our bigs.  The WVUers scored 20 more points in the paint than we did.

In another thread, ol Oscar basically said he was out coached by Huggins who has a scheme that confused our players. Well then change how you coach.... durrrr!
I honestly am hoping that we have a good year as I see 4 outstanding players, but they can play really well and we can lose.  Because of the poor bench and poor post men, things could spiral out of control when our 4 Carnivores get worn down.

My first inclination was to be like, "Did oscar really say that," but I don't know why I would have that inclination bc, of course, oscar would say that. I guess I was just living in a fantasy land for a moment where we have a normal coach who says normal things like "got beat by a good, tough team today. We'll have to get back in the gym tomorrow and work out our issues."

Wins. 81-77. You guys are being awful onery for New Year's Day in the Friday night _Fan/Dean thread. We got this, boys.

Kansas State Football / Re: Who should the new OC be?
« on: January 01, 2018, 02:01:48 PM »
Klein has what, 2 or 3 years of coaching experience? Sure, put him in charge of a P5 offense.
We love shitting on our own as much as Iowa State fans love blowing themselves. This was from three whole pages ago.
Tom Herman became a FBS OC his fifth year as an assistant coach. not P5
Six years for Matt Campbell not P5
Five years for Lincoln Riley not P5
Six for Scott Frost had experience as co-DC at UNI before Oregon
Four Six for Josh Heupel
Three TWELVE (!) for Willie Taggart  before co-OC at WKU. how could you be so far off?
Three for Kliff
Next season will be season five three for Klein

Don't count G.A. years. It's rough ridin' grad school. Klein just got done with his second year as an assistant coach. If we're going to promote from within, you don't think there isn't someone else on staff who is more deserving?

I think the most important thing is that no one gives a eff and let's just make Klein OC and go full ham on this perra.

Good for Kirby.  "Most" people judge coaches by how many games they win.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the coaches that work for him.

Pfft, doesn't sound like a great molder of young men to me. Probably doesn't even work like 97 hours a week and have a mainline of coffee to his heart.

I would like Collin Klein as my OC. Perhaps his name has already been mentioned. And Brent Venables is a name I've heard tossed around as a potentially good head coach for the KSU Fighting Purple Cats, should Lord Bill ever retire.

75
I'm just saying it's crazy weird.

For example, other scores this weekend (bench points in parentheses):

WVU 85 (28)
OSU 77 (16)
TTU 77 (42)
KU 92 (13)
UT 86 (17)
OU 90 (30)
TCU 89 (34)

Our win was awesome and fun, but don't those parentheticals just prove that our bench was trash compared to every other team?
