Just remembering how much LibBots stood up and appreciated their hero using the phrase "Old Europe" as if it was, you know, a bad thing.

But now, LibBot Nation aka the New NeoCons are worried that there may not be enough U.S. military might around to protect "Old Europe".
Is this "specific"? Bc nobody knows wtf you are saying.

Did Obama call Old Europe, Old Europe?  Yes

Your brain is broken.

This was a Donald Rumsfeld quote:
Quote
On January 22, 2003 Rumsfeld answered a question from Charles Groenhuijsen, a Dutch journalist, about the potential US invasion of Iraq:[1][2]

Q: Sir, a question about the mood among European allies. You were talking about the Islamic world a second ago. But now the European allies. If you look at, for example, France, Germany, also a lot of people in my own country -- I'm from Dutch public TV, by the way -- it seems that a lot of Europeans rather give the benefit of the doubt to Saddam Hussein than President George Bush. These are U.S. allies. What do you make of that?

Rumsfeld: Well, it's -- what do I make of it?

Q: They have no clerics. They have no Muslim clerics there.

Rumsfeld: Are you helping me? (Laughter.) Do you think I need help? (Laughter.)

What do I think about it? Well, there isn't anyone alive who wouldn't prefer unanimity. I mean, you just always would like everyone to stand up and say, Way to go! That's the right thing to do, United States.

Now, we rarely find unanimity in the world. I was ambassador to NATO, and I -- when we would go in and make a proposal, there wouldn't be unanimity. There wouldn't even be understanding. And we'd have to be persuasive. We'd have to show reasons. We'd have to -- have to give rationales. We'd have to show facts. And, by golly, I found that Europe on any major issue is given -- if there's leadership and if you're right, and if your facts are persuasive, Europe responds. And they always have.

Now, you're thinking of Europe as Germany and France. I don't. I think that's old Europe. If you look at the entire NATO Europe today, the center of gravity is shifting to the east. And there are a lot of new members. And if you just take the list of all the members of NATO and all of those who have been invited in recently -- what is it? Twenty-six, something like that? -- you're right. Germany has been a problem, and France has been a problem.

    Q: But opinion polls --

Rumsfeld: But -- just a minute. Just a minute. But you look at vast numbers of other countries in Europe. They're not with France and Germany on this, they're with the United States.

Obama specifically disagreed with this:
Quote
US President Barack Obama spent much of his trip to Europe rebuilding bridges. In Prague on Sunday for a US-EU summit, he said "in my view, there is no old Europe or new Europe. There is only a united Europe.

Okay then.

Trump doing a bang up job with alternative facts in front of his peers this morning.

Yes, lets continue to spend nearly 4% of our GDP on defense (well above the NATO threshold) while our "partner" Germany is nearly a full percentage point below the NATO mandated GDP defense percentile threshold and currently has an armed forces that is in utter disarray.

Turkey and Poland are also taking shots at Germany as well for both the pipeline with Russia and Germany's lack of participation in NATO missions.

Germany talks about "energy independence" so that's why they have the pipeline with Russia??   Let's go ask some former Eastern Bloc states what it's like to have a pipeline with and depend on Russia for energy.   Meanwhile 35,000 plus U.S. troops protect that pipeline route for Germany and their too fat to fight military.

So which is it, U.S:  World policeman, or not?
You were for us upping our defense budget

Nope, that was simply a response to the New NeoCons who were all worried about the Evil Vlad Putin.

defending protectionist economic policy to own the libs. smdh my damn head dax.

Acquiescing to unfair trade policies by our so called partners who we spend billions to protect from the evil Vlad Putin is so perfectly fake centrist.

"Fake Centrist"

Steve is Orin Hatch?

Phil . . . I suppose you support the ongoing Chinese technology theft and copyright infringement, among many things?

Why are LibBots doubling down on the $1 trillion plus annual U.S. trade deficit with the world?   Why won't these countries come to table and work out new trade deals . . . wait, who wants to negotiate away a $1 trillion plus (combined) trade advantage?    So, we spend (approx) $300 billion dollars a year to protect "Old Europe" (Barrack Obama) from the evil Vlad Putin, oh, and you guys also get to slap high tariffs on our stuff, and enjoy a several hundred billion dollar plus trade surplus with us as well.   What a deal!   LibBots . . . "SIGN US UP"!

hmmm...didn't you support the deal to save ZTE?

Bucket, is ZTE under new operating management and with an entirely new board of directors (as forced by the United States)?  Is ZTE being forced to negotiate the terms of a new operating agreement with Washington before the ban on Qualcomm (one example) selling them chips is lifted?  Will ZTE have to pay the U.S. $1 billion dollars before the ban is lifted?

Are there any other Chinese companies facing the same type of requirements before purchasing agreements et. al. with U.S. companies are allowed to resume?
You mean like the $200B in new tariffs being announced? Republicans...tarriffing platform since 2017.

You're never even close these days.

Guys dax is still in the process of a decades long meltdown over people/libs protesting the Iraq war.  That's what this is all about and always been about.

Why would I be upset about protesting the Iraq war?

For the same reason you get upset about people being mean to Trump or any future Republican.

Yeah, that's it.

Still makes no sense.

You’re a bit dense and clearly not topical.

Sad

Yes, clearly not topical on the impact of a past president using a phrase....great talking point Dax.

Relative to where the current president is right now, very topical.

Pay attention, for a change.

No, it doesn't.  Just stop, you try way too hard.

29342
sys, please refer me to ACLU actions on "geo repatriation" and similar.  No doubt that they were all over the removing of patriarchs from families, shipping them 1000 miles away and then sending them back across the border.

Thanks in advance, friend.

I'm unfamiliar with the butter over guns thing

Nvm, my mind had German libs spreading butter on guns to make them slippery

Do not tell people you went to K-State.

In macroeconomics, the guns versus butter model is an example of a simple production–possibility frontier. It demonstrates the relationship between a nation's investment in defense and civilian goods. In this example, a nation has to choose between two options when spending its finite resources.

Dax wants to war Germany now too. Man this guy is super blood thirsty

How we getting to them dax...soft northern border?

I know you and Cat in DC have never been the sharpest tacks in the box.

But it's actually the exact opposite .  . . ProTip, I am now making fun of the New NeoCons (that's you) being all angst laden about the potential lack of U.S. military might to protect "Old Europe" (Barrack Obama).    As I said, a total 180 from what LibBot nation was at one time.

You guys worried that we won't be able to invade Russia or something, Phil?

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/6743568/germany-soldiers-broomsticks-nato-donald-trump-angela-merkel-defence-spending/

A pickle.

The new paradigm of LibBot nation, in the midst of a 180 degree role reversal from messengers of peace/butter over guns/flowers in the gun barrels . . . transformed into the New NeoCons, angst laden the U.S. will not spend as much money on NATO, bring troops home, actually talk to other nations etc. etc.

Yet, our "partner" Germany (approximately $50 billion dollar budget surplus last budget cycle) is not meeting their 2% GDP expenditure on NATO/Defense as mandated in the NATO Charter (or similar).   Our "partner" Germany . . . too fat to fight, a crumbling air force, broomsticks for guns, basking in the glow of the U.S.'s protective sun, sheltered behind their substantial EU tariffs protecting their core industries all-the-while striking energy deals (driven by their failed green energy initiatives) with the country that we spend billions more to protect them from.

A pickle, indeed.
