UConn really playing like they're as good as kenpom thinks they are.  Beat the absolute piss out of the mussbus.  Played their entire rough ridin' bench for the third straight game.  Keep an eye on that.

Damn, they aren't just the highest rated kenpom team left, they actually moved up to number one overall after the sweet sixteen.  My basketball feelings are being heavily corroborated by science.  If they win a 4th goddamned nc under a third coach in 25 years, eff all of that.  Gross.  That would be a terrible ending to this tournament.

I forgot Calhoun won a third nc.  I was pretty bruced out by that point tbf.  Jesus Christ though possibly 5 in 25 years over three different coaches?  After they tried to be a big boy state university and got left completely out in the cold.  Shows how much could be possible at most power five schools.

FDU's coach looks like an alternate universe version of Steve-O where Steve-O never did drugs and wrecked his body but instead got into coaching basketball.

He really does look like Steve o.  Knew he looked familiar, but couldn't place it.  Still looks like he did a lot of drugs or maybe years of heavy drinking imo.  If you told me he used to be homeless, I would immediately believe you.

Probably nothing will happen tho.  It's somewhat interesting how much of a boner most Illinois hoops bbsers have for Brad leaving.  Usually they are panicky, insecure bitches like with Self and the entire coaching search that led to Groce.  They really don't like Brad.  No doom and gloom, just a bunch of pie in the sky who could we get speculation.  They have a lot of faith in the current AD.

Additional itk nugg: unrelated to Texas, seems if other dominoes were to fall (say kentucky opening up and hiring away Muss), then Brad would go balls out for Arkansas.  Illinois' AD is very put off by the job searching after this season.  Didn't mind the go purples fight on state stuff last season.  Putting out feelers to potential candidates they say.  Real hot stove crap boys.

His head coaching record outside of this season is objectively bad.  Seems short sighted to hang everything on one successful season.  They ran off Barnes to hire a guy that couldn't dominate mid-major conferences?  Unlikely, though they have apparently heard quite a few nos so far, thus the Brad stuff.

just my jmho, but i think tang overachieved both in recruiting (i know last minute recruiting is a lot easier now, but still) and in coaching his roster.

they're a nice little team, and there's no reason they should be.

Not just bringing in and winning with a group of largely unheralded transfers plus a former star who hadn't played in two years, but also a brand new coaching staff first year all working together at a brand new school for them all and it's his first year as the head man.  Not to mention that he had inherited a corpse oscar had been dry humping for three straight years.  Wild.

Being a pessimist I do worry he's going to be a victim of his own success this season.

Yes very good chance we'll be worse next year and our fans will lose their ever-loving crap. I mean they already do.

But also a chance he finds another player in the portal who makes a Keyontae-esque impact.

I think it's a hell of a lot harder than he's made it look this year.  Illinois is testament to that.  Though to his credit, maybe he's just personally cut out for this college basketball landscape.  An eye for talent, the ability to close on them and then get them to all buy in in relatively no time at all.  A portaling savant.  Very big dick for you all if he is.

Very low mark adams iq admittedly, but if he doesn't look EXACTLY like the type of guy that would do every bit of that crap then that person doesn't exist.  Central casting wouldn't send him because he's too on the nose.

Same.  Literally never heard of them.  Tbf haven't worn nike since I was in high school and every rough ridin' year for every sport or casual leading up to it after 3rd grade.  They were crystalized as a kid's shoe for me personally as a result.

Yeah a real barn burner.  I had already taken it for granted they were going to get butt mumped.  Losing Epps after he got knocked out in practice the day before the game seemed like it would seal the deal.  They're submediocre on offense when everyone is healthy, but without their starting pg and not having another on the roster I expected the shittiest of shows.  Pleasant surprise to get the win.
