We need to capture the South Dakota market. Apparently, nobody there even watches college basketball. It's ours for the taking! We could turn the entire state of SD emaw.

I'm not sure I agree with all of his methodology or his conclusions, but it is fun to think about the games we'll get to see next year between these three programs ... and that they're all seemingly distancing themselves further from the rest of the Nortards.

They (LSU) are the only game in the state and their 92,400 seat stadium becomes the second largest city in the state on game day.

Had to laugh at that part.  Unless he thinks Baton Rouge, Shreveport or Lafayette shouldn't count as cities, which I'm willing to listen to.

Two questions, as I'm beginning to doubt my taste in fast-food burgers:

1. What-a-burger or Wendy's?
2. Is Backyard Burgers any good?

On the first question, my initial reaction is Wendy's, because even though What-a-burger is undeniably a fresher-tasting product, it also reminds me of the crap they serve at Braum's.  Wendy's utilizes fake cheese and sketchy meat, but damned if it isn't the best of a motley crew (the "big chains: McDs, BK, etc.) and that counts for something to me.

On the second, my impression is that Backyard Burgers sucks royally.  I've had much better experiences at places like Steak 'n Shake, though I'm not sure that's saying much.

In summation, I think I am pretty clueless on this topic right now and need direction (though I do know Kreem Kup was the best).

They, like, should prolly get another Helms title for this year.

Pffffft.

This is like deja vu.  KU fans heard the same thing after we lost Rush, Chalmers, Arthur, Kaun, Jackson, Robinson, Stewart, etc after winning the national title in '08.

If you heard that from K-State fans, they were messing with you.  We started Darren Kent that year.  Darren frackin' Kent.  Frank should have been COY.

Am rather surprised Henry is leaving.  Saw something today that said he's the first one-and-done in the history of your program.  Congrats on treating your players like slaves for over 100 years now -- that kind of sustained abuse is difficult to achieve.

Love how people want to have a badass OOC schedule AND go to a bowl game.  We couldn't beat LaLa in September last year folks.

Let's just make sure we win some games in the OOC.

I'm not saying anything of the kind.  Here is my position:

1. Anything that hurts basketball can shazbot! off.

Yeah, that's pretty much it.   :driving:

Having our offense on the Field 35 minutes a game will make our defense look waaaaayyy better than it really is.  I'm fairly confident we have one of the best O-Lines and RB's in the conf.  Bring on the 8 man fronts and we'll Okoye right over them.  QB and WR unknowns leave me thinking passing is highly unlikely on most downs.

Hopefully a QB steps up that can throw the ball more than 30 yards and a reciever with speed.  The GPC article on Brod Smith talks about how he is one of that fastest on the team and sub-4.4.  It would be nice if we can actually stretch defenses this year with him and others at WR to take advantage of teams putting 9 and 10 in the box.

With that guys size, and if he really runs a 4.4   Won't need an accurate passer, just a guy that can throw 30+ yard lobs that actually stay in bounds.

The only thing that gives me hope about our passing game, really.  Beasley was able to produce a 1,000-yard receiver in '99 with one good shoulder simply because said receiver was so damn good.  If Brod Smith is truly an elite difference-maker and not simply "good", my concerns about the QB go down substantially (unless Carson is playing  :flush:).

Chalmers won a nat'l title, plus the issues surrounding his dads job all probably triggered his early exit. On the other hand, Jake has done well to make it on KSU's all-time scoring list and help us to have our best season since God knows when and reach an elite 8 in Franks 3rd year as HC. Pretty good. Good enough? :dunno:  Its his choice what happens now. I personally think he could play in the NBA someday soon. Its gonna take time for him to get used to the differences between collegeBB and proBB. How long will that be? Who knows. I only know that a lot of what people say are Jakes weakness' will still exist, even if he stays with us his last year.  He's not going to grow any taller, he isn't going to all-of-a-sudden become a premier ball handler and he will still have the same foot speed as he did this year. If all these  negatives keep him out of the first round now, why will next year be any different? If he stays, I'm happy for us. If he opts to turn pro, I'm happy for him. IMO, Jake has what it takes. A beard, ice water in his veins and range like a f'n cowboy. TIA

Can he improve his ball-handling some?  I guess that's a big question for me.  Because I agree not much else will change for him with another year at Kansas State.

Other thing to keep in mind -- will next year be a more favorable year to come out thanks to a weaker crop of players leaving?  It's a gamble, but if the NBA gets its crap together, he'll potentially be poised to improve his draft stock simply be entering the league with a group of scrubs instead of the likes of Wall and so forth.

At the end of the day, I agree with the bolded part.  I'm no Bill Self.

There are so many better options to display your EMAW -- spend a little cash and get a :doom: shirt:

You can wear that fracker proudly pretty much anywhere and it's a hell of a conversation starter for HBBIQ types.

Can't freaking wait to get out of here and move to beautiful Oregon.

P. S. Death Valley is not all it's cracked up to be.

No kidding.  Reminded me of the dump in Lawrence, only bigger.

OMFG

...It appears the gophery school up north re-crunched some numbers and might be willing to admit me...   :surprised:   Def. gonna be a nerve-wracking few days!  What should I do, EMAWers?  Please note: I will do whatever goEMAW.com tells me to do.

Oregon kicks the snot out of Minny in most every way.  I don't think you can undervalue this point.  Which program is better?

I love Indian food but have never made any.  Seems hard.  Like, a lot of ingredients I prob. don't have plus naan seems like a huge pain in the ass if you don't have one of those crazy indian oven things.  May try mint chutney and go from there.  I think that is pretty easy.
Lots of spices and junk.  Find an indian grocer.  We have a gas station nearby that has an indian grocery built in. :fatty:

Yeah, just get some of the curry paste stuff you see in your typical Indian section that doesn't suck (can not vouch for these existing in your area) and mix in with some veggies/chicken/what have you (wife uses potatoes, cauliflower, onions, carrots, peas and chicken) and you're most of the way there.  Garlic butter up some store-bought naan (not ideal, but passable) and boil up some rice and you've got an easy + delicious meal.

Good point, all or nothing for any network is probably true.  But I could see ESPN making a big push for it and at least putting up a competitive bid.

But sitting at home I can watch one game on ESPN.  Another on ESPN2.  And another on ESPNU.  And if a 4th is on, it will be on ESPN Classic.  And all games available online on ESPN3.com.

Never have to worry about which region my CBS channel is in again for which gave I'll get on TV.

This is what they could do and what they should do, but I'm not sure they would do it.  Remember, this is the same group of people who think 24-hour Tim Tebow coverage is a good thing, whereas 99 percent of the country wants to murder him now just to be rid of him.

68
Got to think this was at least equal to that as it stretches the imagination to think that Butler will ever be in this position ever again.  If they had hit one more shot ... their fans will obsess over this for the rest of their natural lives.

:dunno:  they get basically their entire team back and will win 30+ games next year.  that doesn't mean they'll make it out of the first round of the tourney next year.   but i see them getting a 2 or 3 seed next year which makes their path to the regional final a lot easier than this year.

Yep.  The stars aligned this year methinks.

69
It'll either all be on CBS or all on ESPN, they won't "share" the tourney.  And CBS holds all the cards.  The ESPN thing is just a dream.

ESPN would muck it all up anyway.  CBS does a good job of switching between games as the action dictates (well, maybe not "good", but better than any other network does for any other sport).  Guarantee you ESPN would make us sit through a Duke 95-62 snoozefest while a Xavier-K-State type game is going on elsewhere.  It's what they do, because they don't give a crap about what their audience wants.

What's not to like about boatloads of morally challenged party girls?

We've got those in New Orleans.  Along with other things that don't make this town an armpit.

71
That worked out better than being embarrased IMO.

Yeah, kind of gratifying to see a good game then have their hearts broken because the little frackers thought they might win. Also, I found it surprisingly easy and natural-feeling to root for Duke.

I got what I wanted too, because it was a good game.  My personal enjoyment trumps all.

That's got to be the most crushing loss imaginable.  I mean, think back to aTm in '98.  Got to think this was at least equal to that as it stretches the imagination to think that Butler will ever be in this position ever again.  If they had hit one more shot ... their fans will obsess over this for the rest of their natural lives.

Bottle Rocket.

I totally buy this.  Had never been able to sit through the entire thing before, but was recently sick and watched the whole movie start to finish.  Was highly enjoyable (may have been delusional from fever so cannot confirm though).

Beerfest/Super Troopers and Happy Gillmore/Billy Madison get funnier with each watch ... until you hit a wall at around 50 viewings or so.  So they qualify to a point.

I'd say my enjoyment of 2001 has roughly doubled with each subsequent viewing, though I hated it to start with so it had a lot of room to grow (now probably in my top 10).  The remake of Star Trek was pretty meh on first viewing - much better the second time (though that may not be "old" just yet).  And I guess I'll add Wonderboys just to be different.  Love that movie more and more with each viewing.

74
Oops, didn't see Ben-neck.  My apologies.

I really, really disliked some of our worst players, so it's hard to come up with guys I liked that were terrible.  Rhodes is a good one ... he was Kent before there was a Kent.  I didn't find him nearly as offensive as some people did, and yet I'm not sure anyone can argue him as being a "good" player.  Q. Buchanon was the same way.

Loved Noland and Schwartzendruber for their names alone, but neither of them were all that putrid, unfortunately.

Guess I'll go with Rhodes or maybe Yearby ... dudes I rooted for despite knowing they were doing more harm than good out there.

1.  Kazzu Khatz
2.  Manhattan High Indhz
3.  Carson Home Sales (my 7th grade MPRD B-ball team)
4.  Milwaukee Bucks (Steve Henson)
5.  Dream Team '92
6.  Georgia Bulldogs (Gramps lives there)
7.  CHIEEEEEEEEEFS
8.  Washburn (Bob Chipman should be our next coach imo)
9.  NOT THE FREAKING JUNCTION CITY BLUE JAYS
10. Whatever team Michael J. Fox was on in "Teen Wolf"
11. Flint Tropics
12. MMS Papooses
13. SBAMS Tornadoes
14. Some minor league team called the Sultans (got their hat for cheap at Ballard's Outlet Dog Days)
15. NES Tecmo Super Bowl's Oakland Raiders ('cause they had Bo)
16. Little Caesar's, the 5th grade MPRD team Dr. Spaceman and I were on (much belated thanks for the postseason pool/pizza party, bro!  )
17. Ottawa Senators (because they were real bad once upon a time and I felt like they needed some fans)
18. Dallas Mavericks (sister went to SMU)
19. Wisconsin (because they jump around and because I had a dope time with Dr. Spaceman at The Citaaay)

But those are just my top 19.  You want I should go on?

Saints?

BTW, Baton Rouge is most definitely an armpit.  Hate all the LSU idiots that talk about that being a great town just because they got drunk there when they were 20.
