His alma mater's job is also open...Milwaukee-Wisconsin?

Yeah, do that too.

52
You all need to join Billikens boards by the dozen, and pine for SLU to hire Brooth. Remember to choose usernames like ArchFan, Spoon Hour and Papist so they think you're real.

Weber's eldest is a pharmacist there.  Employ a reuniting family angle.

Now get to work.

53
Picking a known loser has to be worse than picking an unknown.

Groce to Illinois is the worst IMO

I'm curious, though. Reading goEMAW suggests there's a large group of "tucks" who really liked Weber from the get-go, and still do. Is there a Pitt fan in the known universe who's not shaking his fist at this hire?

54
Stallings to Pitt or Weber to KState. Which is the greater capitulation to mediocrity?

55
He's got a daughter there. Also, probably most of So IL has no internet in their shacks and trailers, so there might be a population of people who still thinks he's good.

Hopefully, no one from SLU catches wind about how both Illinois AND Kansas State fans all hate oscar.

I'd say try it.

56
Hey, on the bright side, John Currie and the tucks will get to watch a really well-coached basketball team EVERY YEAR!

57
That's Mrs. Chester Frazier on the far side. The former Sarah Zeffert. She's awesome.

Not all championships come with a trophy.  This young team won the league title in toughness.

That's pretty damn rough ridin'.

The Quest For Mediocrity

Clearly if you want spin this negatively you can, but the probable facts are that this team is 5 points from being in the NCAA tournament. I think we can score five more points next year with the core we have coming back.

or,

The Quest for Mediocrity +5

It strikes me that ExBruces are more contagious than Influenza. I've been reading rationalizations like this one for ten years now.

KState is an historic basketball program. My first girlfriend's dad played on a KState Final Four team. I know most of you EMAWs are the opposite of Klingon, re: rationalizing Loserdom. S/he seems to have completely abandoned the goal, which is to compete for championships, right? Hoping for bubble status is the epitome of Broothism.

This is certainly the way Brooth would present the data.

What was he, like 3rd all time in wins, top 3 in conf titles, second or third in ncaa appearances?

I'm just a visitor here, of course. I know how you Emaws feel about the sardonic, the parodic and the absurd.

when they fired oscar for "ruining" their program they should have realized he was probably the second or third best coach they'd ever had.

What's your opinion on telling a more senior poster that he's full of crap, and has failed miserably to do even a scant amount of research?

Yeah, Groce is kind of a cliché machine but he doesn't routinely trash the unpaid labor.

if you measure oscar as a person, on being a complete pos human being who is incapable of taking responsibility for his role in his team's demise, on continually throwing his players under the bus, along with the rest of the stupid crap he does, almost anything is better.

Maybe more importantly, it's easier to watch his teams because it's defense thats the problem. For the casual observer, watching bad defense is a lot more entertaining than watching stagnant offense.

I love you all, but this might be my favorite ever post.

these close losses can be so frustrating, because it's just a bounce here or a whistle there.  even just the vagaries of the clock.  i mean, you look at a game log and it just jumps out at you that if the game ended at almost any other point other than 40 minutes in, kstate would have lost by a different margin.  just incredibly frustrating.

Except for the one about the bus. That's my favorite, too.

I've never met John Currie. Is this win enough to secure another five to ten years for Brooth?

66
Old story...word was when Max was replacing Tan Tom he made a call to Keady, loyal KState alum and successful coach, asking his interest in coming home. Keady asked what we were paying. Urich said something in the range of $600K. Keady hung up the phone.

Real loyal guy.

Our rough ridin' ex-AD tried to cheapskate Bill Self with a lecture about loyalty.

That's how we got stuck with rough ridin'

If he doesn't actually have a Pulitzer, or if he's not a member of the Pulitzer family (decedent by blood of Joseph) then those groups might care. I mean, he could be seen as tarnishing their brand.

So, in the final analysis, does anyone know specifically who pDave is? And does anybody care?

68
Assuming everything attributed to PDave is true, there's no case for defamation of the real person hiding behind the username.

He will notify him the answer "no"

I don't know about Kansas (or wherever Catter lives) but in Illinois, PDave has the law exactly backwards: You have no right to be an anonymous troll.

I'm pretty sure Illini Athletics would sell you the domain for $3.9 million.

Can we contact whoever is redirecting firebruceweber.com to the Illinois athletic site and ask them redirect it to this thread?

70
The final account of oscar Weber is not going to be dictated by oscar Weber. It's not going to be crafted by professional PR wonks. It's not going to be pretty, but it will, at long last, be honest.

71
Did you guys lose any players today?

Leave off one "P"  and it totally changes things.

73
get out of here fuckface

Hmm. Seems catty.

74
Who's going to be coaching these kids? Are these Underwood recruits? Just curious.

75
I have some experience with this feeling. I agree.

Guys, I really rough ridin' hate that oscar Weber is our coach.  I mean, it's miserable.
