But Apple's reach goes further than controlling technology: No apps that "encourage excessive consumption." Apps can't misspell Apple product names—like iTunz. Apps can't look like Apple's applications either. Apps "with metadata that mentions the name of any other computer platform" are out. Apps can't be defamatory or "mean-spirited." (Unless you're a professional satirist.) No apps that replicate pre-installed applications—like Mail. Apps can't portray "realistic images of people or animals being killed or maimed" or shot. Goodbye Call of Duty. No "Chat Roulette" apps.

What podcasts do you guys listen to?

I've been listening to-

Radiolab- This is a pretty interesting podcasts from NPR. They have a few segments on one subject per podcast. A really good one.

Jay and Silent Bob Get Old- Still pretty new, but it's good if you're into their humor. So far, it's mainly about Jason's drug issues.

We're Alive- It's like an old timey radio broadcast, but it's done really well. Focuses on a group of people after a zombie outbreak. I'm in love with it.

The video is messed up. Whats even more messed up is in a situation like this, their biggest hope is to have the cop fired. If a citizen did that, he'd be put in jail. TBL, what kind of rights does a citizen in that situation have to fight back? What if that guy had a CCW license and pulled the gun on the cop after the first hit? Or do you pretty much just have to grab the ankles and hope for a decent lawsuit?

Went from utterly amazing in the Mask however many years ago to an ugly car wreck of botox and chain smoking with too many close ups. In other words, don't let your friends take you to go see Knight and Day. Tom Cruise is now much more attractive than that used handbag known as Cameron Diaz.

Anyone here into photography? I've always been interested. I'm thinking about picking up a cheap DSLR. Amazon has a good deal on a Rebel XS. Basically a free telephoto lens with it. What do you guys have? Any recommendations?

Essentially Flyertalk / Dumping Cable, getting an HTPC

Anyone else dump cable to save money? I'm making the transition. I got an antenna (there is no such thing as HD or SD, btw). I'm currently building an HTPC. Just ordered this motherboard/CPU combo. Will order a cheap decent looking case, memory, and a tv tuner card. Reuse an old hard drive. Will cost me $250 total. I'll use it as a DVR, and be able to watch all my regular shows that are on cable, or download what ever I miss.

All in all, I expect to save $100 a month with this. Comcast has good service, but I'm sick and tired of their price hikes.

Have any of you guys gotten fed up with cable and switched to antenna? All the stuff we watch in usually on the 4 main networks anyways, so we're gonna make the switch and save us $100 a month. Will probably help when I get laid off.
