I would've taken Doug but I wanted his candidacy to get Currie/admin folks to think a little further outside the box.  I would think OSU has the resources to do better.

What resources do they have that we don't? Excess of empty orange chairs?

T Boone's fortune.  I thought they built a pretty bad ass athletics park there too although maybe we've caught up some.

In terms of basketball facilities, besides the fact that GIA may have a better look with the brick and all orange predominately empty chair back seats.   They don't have anything on us from a basketball facilities perspective.   That's the only thing a b-ball coach is going to care about.   

Our practice/admin facility is one of the nicest ones in the country and our game day dressing rooms and game day sports medicine facilities as well as the post game press room just got a million dollar make-over, and of course we just put in a $5 million-plus dollar AV/Scoring/Lighting system.

Yeah, T Boone Pickens isn't an open checkbook, I'm not sure he's ever given anything directly to basketball. When they got the GIA renovation along with their practice facility that was a part of the overall expanded athletics facility. K-State and frankly Texas Tech have committed a lot more to basketball, in everyway, than OSU has.

I always viewed OSU as K-State with T Boone's money but in hindsight, I formed that opinion years ago and it is probably dated at best.

Until they spent the money in some kind of university/city partnership (I think that was the case) to upgrade GIA.   Between what K-State spent on Bramlage and expanding the football stadium in 1998, that was more than double what OSU spent on facilities in the previous 4 decades.   What was to become T. Boone Pickens Stadium was a rusty nasty place prior.

the reno/addition to the football stadium was expensive lipstick on a pig. looks decent on tv, look good in person when brand spanking new, and now looks bleh in person.

OU practice facility also sucks. I've spent a good amount of time there hooping and I really prefer to hoop at the facility where my kid's team practices. Oklahoma is a weird state when it comes to bball, especially bball facilities.

are we sure they do, or maybe Holder doesn't care enough about basketball. Holder says he didn't see better offers coming for Brad, that's bs. So, yeah they don't care enough to come up with a salary increase structure and incentives that would give Brad an average of $3 mil the next couple of seasons. I think holder will make an oscar type hire. I think Doug actually cares, loves OSU and want's to coach for sentimental reasons (alma mater, his dad was a coach, his brothers coach, sutton legacy). I would still take Doug at EMAW.

It shouldn't count as an NCAA appearance. Play ins for any other seed than 16 are stupid. If you're a power 5 team and have to get in via a play in, then you don't deserve to be in the tournament.

Considering the only lapse Baylor has had this entire season was this past week, how bad do you all think we are?  I'm disappointed, but they are still ranked number 1 until Monday, but will not drop much.  I wanted to win badly.  Wes and Wade seem ineffective today.  Wade was so damn afraid, and Wes tried to do it all himself at times.  When they went to playing as individually rather than as a team they were bad.  When they played together they looked really decent.

If this is truly due to all the weight being center and to the back, whoever "engineered" it better already be out of the country.

False. The only PE stamps required for stuff like this (in KS at least - California, Ohio and Florida might have different requirements based on the density of parks) are the structural engineer, civil engineer and the MEP engineer. The structural engineer holds no liability for the operation of the ride, just the structural soundness of the physical ride itself. Did the ride topple over and fall to the ground? No.

These attractions hire a firm to design the rides, but they often times aren't licensed professional engineers due to the (somewhat) loose restrictions on designing rides. Most of the rides in the US are all designed by the same 2 or 3 firms. I've had to deal with them before on certain projects i've been associated with.

Can confirm. As a structural engineer I've done structural design for a couple of the major players in the aquatics industry. Ride path design for your run-of-the-mill slide is not done by an engineer at all. Most of the design is done by a designer doing a 3D model of the slide based on that company's catalog of slide parts. It's a fairly empirical process.They know the total elevation drop and keep the slope of the slide within a certain range. Never, ever stamped a drawing with ride path design on it. Having worked with a certain infamous family of water parks, I never knew them to use one of the major slide designers for their slides. The same company often bought previously used "ordinary" slides. The most northern location for this company did an expansion and the slide fiberglass and platform came from a defunct water park in a city known for gambling.

Yeah they had ride path issues originally. the slide sections appear to match the sections used on their master blaster ride exactly. original build likely used standard master blaster sections to create the ride path. same slide piece lengths and curve radius, but didn't mean the ride would work for their desired weight range. the original intent may have been for the slide to be a 4 person ride. So it got built and they couldn't calibrate the rafts going up the little hill for the desired weight range. i believe you get sent up the little hill with jets similar to the master blaster. so they spent tons of money making the initial drop shorter and adjusted the hill. cut down the weight range by dropping a rider and they got a ride that works for a specific weight range. it sounds like what happened is an issue with them posibly becoming lax in enforcing the ride parameters related to the riders and or something not being right with the "harness" in the raft.

did some digging this morning on the limestone field wall.  word is that currie wants to save cash and is going to put up a limestone banner similar to what baylor did instead of a real wall.

the question is, is this enough to satiate the fans clamoring for a wall?  it looks good enough on television, so why not?  my only request would be that they iron out the wrinkles that you can see on baylor's.

I hope it gets vandalized.

Bingo. A major reason Currie hired Weber is because Weber can't manage players (Foster, to some extent Angel). So Weber doesn't push back in this area at all. It's actually good personal risk management by Currie, just detrimental to K-State.

You can't have the ego Currie has a as leader and your organization be successful. If have to hire people who are smarter than you and better at you for what you hire them to do, then let them do it while giving them whatever resource they need to do it. Currie is great at fund raising, I'll give him that, but he is ignorant of the fact he has no knowledge of how to run a sports program.

Currie had all kinds of basketball coaching moves he could have made this off season: Underwood, Henson, Gottlieb, Jankovich, and the list goes on. All guys who could put together a decent staff and recruit. But, I doubt any of them would have said yes to working under Currie. It's also completely ridiculous that K-State administration would value anything that has anything to do with Keady.
