Really . . . so where is the DT talent coming from?? We have 2 H.S. DT's committed, 1 is likely a sign and place, the other needs another 30 pounds minimum. We need at least 2 JC LB's . . . so far we have none committed. Brown better be a hell of a player.
I am also sick as as f_ck of seeing us recruit on razor thin margins. It's always the 1 guy who doesn't pan out, the 1 guy who doesn't qualify . . . golly if we only had that guy now.
Well this team has glaring weaknesses, and lots of opportunity. If this staff can't sign at least 4 DT's, of which 2 or 3 are JC's. If this staff can't land at least 2 JC LB's that can play . . . of which NONE are qualifying risks, NONE are foooocking head cases, all will be on campus ready to go. Then the whole lot of them should be fired . . . they couldn't sell Beer at Octoberfest, they couldn't sell Whale Fat to an eskimo, they couldn't sell a starving man a steak. I am sick of us having glaring weaknesses and the staff recruits 1 guy, or maybe 2, and the 2nd guy might make it if he gets all A's in the next 36 hours of class work. There's really no excuse for that at any D1 BCS school.
To be fair, this would likely cause severe GI problems for the starving man and they probably shouldn't sell him a steak. Otherwise, good point.

We got manhandled up front (again). NU didn't even really put 8 in the box. We could not sustain blocks against NU's front. This was maybe the most disappointing aspect of the game for me, even more so than Martinez clowning our defense. The gameplan was the right one, we spread NU out and tried to run some power football and zone right at NU's front 6/7 and we failed miserably. Really, really disappointing.

The line play has reminded me of the Fresno St. fiasco here. We get manhandled and play intimidated. Embarrassing. The lack of quickness on the OL probably factored into the tight splits but that plays against one of DT's major strengths. Add to that the apparent inability to lock onto the block and running anything between 1-5 or 2-6 is essentially eliminated.

It's great for one year to have a OnD player, but from day 1 Frank has said he wanted to build a program. OnD players don't build programs, unless you can get them every year. I doubt we have the ability to get them every year at this point. Unless we do, he just takes up experience from someone who will be playing the next year.
