ROM seems ambiguous in this context. I want to hear more about this, though. Can you access any N64 game, or is the library limited? And is it legal?
The ROM is just a copy of the data from the cartridge/board/etc it originated from. The emulator then uses that to allow you to play the game. There are emulators for a bunch of old systems and most of the games come from an open source. There are a bunch of websites that have ROMs and you can find basically any game you want.
