COLUMBIA, Mo. | Two University of Missouri students have apologized for scattering cotton balls outside the Black Culture Center on campus.

Nineteen-year-old freshman Sean Fitzgerald and 21-year-old senior Zachary Tucker were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of hate crimes. They have not been charged.

In a letter to campus leaders and student groups issued Friday, the two apologized for their "inexcusable judgment."

The statement described what they called "a series of foolish acts" that included riding a Missouri tiger statue and hoisting a pirate flag at the ROTC building. Both students have been suspended from school.

Recruit says Texas will win next four BCS titles

There is confidence. And then there is Texas freshman-to-be Taylor Bible's confidence.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman, who won't graduate high school until June, told the Dallas Morning News this week that the Longhorns would win the next four BCS titles and all four Red River Rivalry games against Oklahoma.

Bible might have a chance of making that prediction come true, because he said Texas coaches have told him he'll play right away as a freshman.

The Longhorns are seemingly positioned for annual BCS title contention with the way Mack Brown has that program humming. But Bible has some awfully big goals -- and some work to do to back up that big talk.

Essentially Flyertalk / Furminator

This is money:

http://www.furminator.com/

I love my Yellow Lab to death, but he has been shedding like crazy.  With our wood floors, it is hard to keep the house looking clean with all the hair.

To the point:

No other brush compares, and well worth the money.  I bought the larger brush at PetCo or PetSmart for almost $70.

This is what it looked like when I took the Furminator to my lab this past weekend.  (Except my dog and not the one in the picture)

Quote
TOPEKA | The capital city of Kansas will be referred to for the month of March as "Google, Kansas — the capital city of fiber optics."

Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten signed a proclamation Monday calling for the temporary name in an effort to convince Google to make Topeka a test site for an ultrafast Internet connection.

Bunten said he hoped the move would set Topeka apart from other cities vying for Google's attention, which include Grand Rapids, Mich., and Baton Rouge, La.

City attorney Jackie Williams said the city couldn't change its name to Google for a short time and then change it back. But he saw no problem with a proclamation calling for Topeka to be referred to as "Google."

The Royals and Stroud's Restaurant have a three-year agreement to serve the pan-fried chicken and other items beginning this season.

The Stroud's at Kauffman Stadium will be connected to the Royals Hall of Fame in left field.

"We are extremely excited to bring Stroud's into the K and make their legendary chicken and cinnamon rolls available to our fans," said Royals senior VP-business operations Kevin Uhlich.

Stroud's will serve its two-piece chicken dinner, fried and grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers and buffalo wings, as well as cinnamon rolls.

It looks stupid....eeew, we're wearing black..we're cool. wear your school colors, wannabe.

Quote
it is cute how they ride the official colors of other teams

Quote
ksu is wearing black is because purple is one of the gayest colors worn in sports, and they are embarassed by it on tv... It probably hurts recruting in some way.

Quote
Just as Texas is burnt orange and white. Apart from white you use silver.

Wear your colors, don't copy off other schools. Wearing blacks on occasion is one thing, but wholly adopting black as your own like your basketball team is just pathetic.

Quote
Don't wear black uniforms. It's not an "offset" on anthing.

Quote
White with purple accent
Purple with white accent

The only possible exception might be silver, since, over many decades of history, it seems to have been k-State's second, or "unofficial" color. So, silver with purple accent or vice versa would be acceptable.

That's it. Don't try to spin it because your school only felt like coming up with one official color. Unless it is one of your school's official colors, black is unoriginal and played out. Congratulations on your black uniforms, they look terrible.

Quote
your colors are purple and white...not JUST purple. You guys are using colors that aren't your own and it is really sad. YOu guys have no identity and are free loading off the identity associated with other schools who have black as their official color, it is pathetic

Quote
K-State’s official color—royal purple—was chosen in 1896 by two representatives from each class, but it wasn't approved by the faculty until 1921. Surprising fact: purple is K-State’s only official color, even though it’s commonly paired with white or gray.

Hmm... no mention of black there.

Quote
Purple with black trim is fine....but what is the point of wearing a dominant color that isn't your school color?

Quote
Whites/Silvers and Purples.  Leave it to a bunch of morons in Manhattan to mess that up by wholly adopting another separate color and freeload off the goodwill of other teams whose colors are actually Black. It is sad and pathetic.

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma guard Willie Warren is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with mononucleosis.

Warren, the Sooners' leading scorer with a 16.2-point average, did not travel with the team for Saturday's 97-76 loss at Oklahoma State.

Coach Jeff Capel says he doesn't know how long Warren will be out because "it varies for each guy." The viral illness can linger for weeks and even months in some individuals.

Warren received votes for The Associated Press' preseason All-America team and had been considered a potential NBA draft prospect last year before returning for his sophomore season at Oklahoma.

He ranks 10th in the Big 12 in scoring.

Essentially Flyertalk / Honeymoon Ideas
« on: February 09, 2010, 12:10:44 PM »
Getting married in June, and trying to figure out where to go for a honeymoon afterwards.  We were thinking Paradisus in the Dominican Republic.  We were at the Paradisus in Cancun and really liked it.

We have thrown around some other ideas (Chateau Lake Luise, Napa Valley, and such).  We are trying to keep it under $5k.

Any suggestions?

TIA
