Wonka was great. Hugh Grant as the Oompa Loompa was fantastic and so were the Sour Patch Kids I crushed during the movie.

If the story about him beating up a girl is true, I'd like him off the team. Pretty hard to believe that story is true without an arrest and criminal charges, though.
From what I am hearing it is not even close to that. Tomlin was involved in an altercation that started inside of Tubby's. He was escorted out to the patio where the fight popped off again. Tomlin's girlfriend was trying to break up the fight and ended up catching one. Not a great situation but far from Tomlin beating the hell out of a woman. There's a reason this thing went quickly to diversion. There's no videotape as my understanding is that the police didn't even obtain security footage. Source = A-

Refresh me on what happened with CK?
He and pullen got clothes from someone that worked at the mall.

Must not have been Curt’s first infraction. They had a hearing about his status and pat bosco told John Currie to eat a dick and drove Curt to practice

Pretty sure CK was almost kicked off the team because of a hot piss test, not Dillards-gate. IIRC Skinny Benny wrote a legendary letter-to-the-editor to the Collegian in CK's defense and Bosco came to the rescue. Pretty embarrassed for supposed liftetime fans Cire and Benji in this thread TBH.

Can someone give me the scoop on the Hickory Hut?
Never been before and I'm going to meet up with some buds there. What's the best thing to get?
Slammer with a side of o-rings was my order the one time I've been there and I was very pleased.

What's better, Antler Room or Farina? Sound off in the comments.
Haven't had either but some people I trust wouldn't even put Farina in the same conversation as Antler Room and they're friends with Michael Smith.

I'm sure it's been discussed in multiple places and possibly multiple times in this thread, but let's discuss KC BBQ. Everyone can talk about which place is the best, and that's boring. I want to know who has the best:

1. Ribs
2. Brisket
3. Pulled Pork
4. Sauce
5. Sides

I'm not well experienced with KC BBQ, I've eaten at the famous places once or twice. In my experience, Arthur Bryant's has the best brisket and sauce (I realize it's a love or hate flavor) and Joe's KC has the best ribs. And Jack Stack and Q39 are pretty damn good at everything, but not great at anything.

So where should Mrs. Stevesie and I go on our KC BBQ tour?

I must admit I've been in somewhat of a rut BBQ wise as I don't go a lot so I go to what I know I like when I do go.

1. Ribs - Joes / Slaps
2. Brisket - No leader for me in brisket, I tend to find they all do it well
3. Pulled Pork - Wolfepack (just now ate so maybe recency bias)
4. Sauce - Gates
5. Sides - Jack Stack / Wyandot for fries specifically / Zarda for beans specifically. Last place Joes by a long shot.
6. Turkey (needs more love in KC BBQ talks) - Wolfepack
7. Burnt Ends (why is this not on your list) - Bryants / Slaps
I'm back and forth on Joe's fries but the rest of their sides are ass. Slaps has good sides as well. I agree that turkey is a sleeper. Does anyone ever order the smoked ham and is it just Gates that has it?

I just updated my kc bbq rankings last week

GOD Tier
Harp
Wolfepack
Chef j

Good Tier
q39
SLAPS
Joe’s KC
Meat Mitch
Night Goat

Decent In a Pinch Tier
Burnt End bbq
Jackstack
Char bar
Gates
Brobeck
Bryant’s
Danny Edwards
Haywards
Buck Thai

Don’t Do It Tier
Zarda
Wyandot
LC’s
Rosedale
Blind Box
B.B.’s Lawnside
It's been a couple of years I have never had a bad meal at LC's. Bryant's is some of the worst I've had in KC barely above Zarda. Gates is my good in a pinch spot and has my favorite sauce by fair. I know it's not what Stevesie asked for but I don't care. My rankings:

Slaps
Joe's
Q39
LCs
Jack Stack
Danny Edwards
Woodyard
Gates
Bryants
Rosedale
Zardas

Poor man's burnt ends?  I think a chuck roast is twice as much per pound as a brisket is.

Did the refs hand KU the game?  I don't know, I just don't know.  I understand why they would though.

The non-targeting call had a 60 year old dude next to me so hot I thought he might need medical assistance.
Was this the play where we hit Ballard near the K-State sideline? They kept showing the replay and booing but it didn't look remotely dirty to me from where I was sitting.

Is it normal for the opposing team's band to get to play on the field during halftime? First time I've ever seen that. Seemed strange. The KU fans booed our band relentlessly.

We ... beat the spread. I hope you Hay Jocks lost your farms.
that spread was outrageous. I actually won like three more farms from all the bets I made against that spread.

Has anyone smoked a chuck roast? If so, thoughts?

Haven't ever done it myself but I have had "poor man's burnt ends" which to my undestanding is basically smoked chuck roast cubed and covered in sauce and it was average at best. Just slow cook that badboy.

I watched braveheart for the first time recently and really enjoyed it.  I watched pulp fiction the other night for the first time and thought it was pretty mediocre.
I'm the complete opposite. Braveheart kind of sucks tbh.

we’ll always have the last couple of years of it actually being irl pretty good*

*we = waks, myself, and maybe four other randos
Yeah roflmao at 8manpick having zero idea what he's talking about. At least since Covid, LABCO has been making the best food in MHK and it's not even close. Stevesie, Kat Kid and ChiTownCat would also back me up on this.

Only thing I will get from Radina's is bread.
I have a friend who works at Radina, I guess you can consider him an “insider”.  He told me that everyone that works there refer to you as the Only Bread Guy.  There is a really tall chick that works there who is easily 6’ tall and wanted your long bone until she found out how limited your ordering history was.  Apparently the guy who she finally settled on as being acceptable to receive her sexual loins ordered a ton of various things from Radina.  Kind of some pretty important life lessons in this situation, eh fellas?
This is particularly important and devastating information.

Going to see Oppenheimer tonight!  :excited: :excited: :excited:

Really want to see it too. Had a friend do the full Barbenheimer and I'm jealous of that
Saw it on Thursday. Ran a little long and the third act seemed unnecessary but pretty freaking good overall.

On a flight from JFK to LAX and the guy next to me texts his significant other "Clean white guy sitting next to me. Early 40's".

Then he texts something about being depressed and then fired up Truth Social until takeoff.

Glad I trimmed the homeless beard today I guess?
Definitely thought this was going in the direction of you being invited to bang his wife.

Just got home from a Jeff Tweedy show at The Stiefel in Salina. Great show. I can't remember another concert where I laughed as much. Tweedy's crowd-work is second to none I've ever experienced.

On another note, The Stiefel is an amazing little venue, especially for a town like Salina. I saw at least thirty people at the show that I knew from Manhattan. It makes me wonder why The Wareham can't put on similar shows. Hopefully the group that recently acquired The Wareham can make something work.

Been playing tennis fairly regularly for the last couple of months. Hadn't played much since high school. Learning tennis elbow is definitely a thing.  :frown:

oh man. I was playing pickle ball pretty regularly there for a while and holy crap. I've gotten a bit of tennis/golf elbow before, but this was no joke. I couldn't hold a drink there for a while. I had to buy one of those old man black thingies which helped a bit.
I think I'm going to have to get one too. I shook someone's hand today and I thought my arm fell off at my elbow.

Cafe Corazon: 6.5/7 - breakfast empanada with an Oaxacan Latte. Latte was good and the empanada was fantastic. Only doing against them is the atmosphere isn't remarkable. Kind of felt like I was having breakfast in an art gallery in a former warehouse.

Tried Chingu, Cafe Corazon and Chewology this past weekend.

Chingu: 7/7 - had the scallion pancakes, mandu, Korean fried chicken and pork belly bo ssam. The chicken and pork belly might have been the best I've ever had of either. The portions are redic.

Cafe Corazon: 6.5/7 - breakfast empanada with an Oaxacan Latte. Latte was good and the empanada was fantastic. Only ding against them is the atmosphere isn't remarkable. Kind of felt like I was having breakfast in an art gallery in a former warehouse.

Chewology: 4/7 - had the pork belly bao, fried chicken and beef shank ramen. All were just ok but might be unfair because I was comparing it to my meal at Chingu.
