Essentially Flyertalk / Re: 2nd worst town in Kansas
« on: December 20, 2012, 02:44:46 PM »
Since I typically avoid small, shitty Kansas towns (except for Lincoln Center three times a year :bang:), my knowledge on the subject is fairly limited. However, my vote goes to Westmoreland.

I had a friend move there in junior high and went to visit him once. What do the kids do for fun there? They go hangout in a cemetery.

All but two of the people I met there had spent a night in jail within the last month (all for separate reasons). Additionally, on more than five occasions, my buddy successfully fled from the cop(s?) by simply cutting across a field.

I was also stunned to find that literally everyone I met, regardless of age, chewed tobacco or smoked cigarettes. How did minors obtain their tobacco? From the local mom and pop's grocery store, of course.

It was a horrible place.

Plus, seeing the contrast because poster persona and irl persona with some people is really entertaining/interesting.
Very true. Rick Daris comes to mind.

I was going to say this but I didn't want to ruin the suspense.
Oops! You're right.

Fixed it.

Where is the new rowing training facility going to be located?

Also, whatever happened to that multi-million dollar equestrian facility we had plans for? Is that what the Timbercreek Stables are?

Would love to try those on boomers
It would be sensation overload. Boomers alone make candy canes incredible. Candy canes by themselves are not incredible.

Also, lotta folks who were nerdy weaklings as kids and didn't turn out super hot stud muffins from drinking milk like the commercials said they would being outed here.  Ts an Ps on milk not being enough to overcome your bad genes.  I turned out just like my milk mirror reflection said I would.  Plus I bet if we went bone to bone (no mommy), I'd have the best ones in here.  Maybe like punched fists or something to test bone strength.
Ha, wrong! Clams and I are like the tallest people you'll ever see.

milk is high in saturated fat and sugar (lactose), both of which should be moderated in a diet.  they turn into carbs/calories/fat in your body.

i love milk but i limit my intake.

there's really no nutritional reason for anyone past a kid's age to be drinking excess amounts of it.
Clams, what's your view on protein shakes? I've got a doctor/science buddy of mine that says they're completely worthless.

I do pound down a little over a gallon of whole milk a day though.

bullshit

that's really not good for you.

q: do you know how much sugar is in milk?  a:  a lot.
I'm on Team Clams here. Milk really isn't nearly as good for us as we've been led to believe.

As far as soft drinks go... I used to drink Dr. Pepper exclusively but now soda usually just tastes too sugary for me. I like ginger ale.
It even mixes better with whiskey than coke does.

ESPN's BCS Countdown last night said this is our first no. 1 BCS ranking. Were we only no. 1 in the AP or something in '98 after we beat Nebraska?

Yeah.  We were #3 in the BCS rankings going into Big12 Championship game.  UCLA and Tennessee were both ahead of us.
Got it. I remember needing UCLA to lose.

Maybe Luke'd but did anybody see the ridiculous bit on Sportscenter that ESPN did on Snyder's salary?

No, but with such a great recap, why would I need to?
They had a bit called "Cashing In" that was mostly about Victor Cruz requesting a new contract. They opened it up though talking about how Snyder's salary was significantly lower than every coach currently in the Top 10 other than Dabo Swinney. They also mentioned "to add insult to injury" that conference punching bag, Charlie Weis, has a larger salary.

I asked because I couldn't decide if it was relevant to the thread. I mean, at least they're talking about us but it seemed weird.  :dunno:
