let me just put it this way:

in 2012 KSU was +.0222 in TOPP, which was #3 best in all of FBS
in 2013 KSU is -.0236 in TOPP, which is #3 worst in all of FBS

there is no other change from 12-13 as drastic as this one

I'm not sure how good our "turnover forcing" can be, but it will likely get "better" just because turnovers are a product of luck as much as they are of skill. I would guess the rest of the season that turnover margin will be even or slightly in our favor and at some point we will have a +2/3 (or better) game in turnovers.

I agree and I'm not suggesting we can flip a switch and cause more turnovers. But I am pointing to that +/- figure and saying that's probably the main reason we are 2-4.

I am now convinced that this guy is a sock. There's just no way he is real. I think he's Rick Daris.

Quote
But I also saw the other side ... the bad things he did using the same brain that makes him a running savant.  The two don't quite work together.

I eavesdropped once on a conversation between George Brett and Joe Torre behind the batting cage at Royals stadium.  This was the season after Brett hit .390, and chased the magical .400 barrier late into the year.  Torre, once himself a league batting champion was picking Brett's brain.  "What do you think about when you're up there George?"  Brett's replay, "nothing, I'm just trying to see the ball."  Sometimes it's just that simple.

When Daniel Sams runs, he doesn't have time to think.  If he thought about where he was going, he wouldn't get there.  He'd be paralyzed by his own brain

Quote
I'm not sure the brain circuitry can be converted that drastically and turned off and on like a light switch.  When quarterbacks are pressured and looking to throw, there has to be a coolness that takes over.  The brain has to work in a different way.  Watching Sams trying to stay in the pocket is like watching a butterfly inside of a glass jar.  All it wants to do is get out and fly.

There have been some interesting studies done on attempting to understanding what happens to the human body when there's a cascade of adrenaline ... The point being, everyone has a different response level, but we all are born with the "fight or flight" response.  It's the first stage of a general adaption syndrome that protects us from harm.  Of course none of these human responses have anything to do with football, or any other sport.  Fans mock such theories.  After all, if an athlete is good at one thing, he should be able to master or learn any other task.  Right?  That's what their sports heroes do.  And when their heroes fail, they can conveniently explain it away by blaming an old coach.

why is there a herp derp over there named FelixRex with 18k posts?

a collection of quotes from tcu fans explaining their terrible attendance Saturday

Thanks Stefan for sending that out to the world. Why don't you head into the concourse where thousands are packed trying to avoid heatstroke and take a photo? What a tool.

I saw people pass out today. It was HOT.

What made the misery factor awful today was that there was not a breath of wind, the humidity and the heat... I saw three plus people needing medical attention... This makes two home games that have been dangerous for many to sit through because there was no wind and high temps... TCU should have built a domed stadium like some of the northern teams (c'use, Idaho and ND State)... Outside stadiums in areas of the country with extremely high temps worked when early games were at night..

Hey guys, most of our fans sit in air conditioned homes or offices during the week. So to ask people to sit 4 hours in the Texas heat and humidity is asking a lot.

Something needs to be done about this issue, namely installing shade devices.

It was 85 degrees or so but the dew point was 71 and the blazing sun made it miserable.

How much would it cost to add a dome to the Carter?

My car thermometer said 96 degrees when I got in right after the game.

We are a fanbase built on families with kids. We normally had night games while in the MWC except for November and our crowds grew and grew. These early starts topped off with 90+ heat in the direct sun are killing our fanbase.

this can't be real, can it? if so this is worse than the empty stadium.

i can't tell if the thread title is supposed to be read like a statement with a misspelled "too" at the beginning, or as the beginning of a letter addressed to: many cat fans acting like spoiled kids on here

Using a (adjusted for quality of opponent) points per possession metric we have played 2 (Baylor and OSU).  Not be too huge of a debbie downer, but by a similar measure our defense is currently the third worst (yes worse than WV and UT will likely improve past us soon).  We give up scores on a very high % of possessions:

% of drives opponent scored against us:
UT   ->  45%   (5/11)
OSU ->  54%   (7/13)
BU   ->  42%   (5/12)

unfortunately against Baylor they were all touchdowns.  It's far too early to say there is a "downward" trend there.

CHUMP and SNOWBRAG are just two friends hanging out with the exact same opinions here, my friend.

Offenses (adjusted for SOS)

Baylor
Texas
Oklahoma
Iowa State
Kansas State
Texas Tech
Oklahoma State
TCU
West Virginia
Kansas

Defenses:

TCU
Oklahoma State
West Virginia
Oklahoma
Texas Tech
Baylor
Texas
Kansas State
Kansas
Iowa State

My opinion is that the #1 problem is turnovers.

KSU turns the ball over at the highest rate in the conference (0.0380 TOPP)
KSU causes turnovers at the lowest rate in the conference by far (0.0144 TOPP)

Look how far in last place KSU is in terms of +/- TOPP

1. oSu +.0178
2. ISU +.0145
3. UT  +.0133
4. OU  +.0110
5. BU  +.0074
6. TCU +.0065
7. WVU -.0008
8. KU  -.0025
9. TTU -.0025
10. KSU -.0236

So I got approached last week to broadcast the softball state championships this Friday in Nebraska. Guess where my glorious destination is? Grand Island, NE! :Woohoo: Pro tips would be much appreciated. SD, you wanna party? All expenses paid. :D
Scratch that. It's Hastings instead.

I know a million things to do in Grand Island including where to find the hottest chicks and get the best food.  Also, FREE DRINKS!  Hastings is a hellhole tho, sorry.

yeah. in this edition of "pump it or dump it", grand island survives another week and hastings is casted off with the other losers. ten pumps for GI and one major dump city usa for craphastings.

Hastings is the name of the assistant of Belgian super stud private investigator Hercule Poirot

So at work there is a little convenience store where people scan and check themselves out. I decided to see what would happen if I put the back of my hand up to the scanner....

Apparently I ring up as a 20oz bottle of squirt and cost $1.49

It's been so long since I've had a Squirt that I can't remember if I liked it or not.

of course you liked it you weirdo

I also would like to clarify this by saying, you are a weirdo for not remembering that you liked squirt, not because you liked it. You would be a weirdo if you didn't like squirt

I got 7-5, but I could see it. Hardest schedule in the Big 12 so far.

SNOWBRAG backs you up (almost).

Overall SOS:

20. West Virginia
30. Kansas State
39. TCU
42. Iowa State
53. Oklahoma
54. Kansas
77. Texas
106. Baylor
113. Texas Tech
114. Oklahoma State

I'm sorry but TCU has had a tougher schedule than ksu.

I forgive you but you are not correct. Their schedules have averaged out to very similar (and I weigh all the FCS teams the same, even though NDSU is probably a much better team than SE Louisiana). #30 is very close #39, Tim.

TCU at TT, TCU at OU and TCU played LSU. that right there is better than KSU schedule

OK Tim. Keep your head in the sand. Baylor is better than each of those 3, and the bottom end of KU + SMU is much, much worse than the bottom end of UMass and ULL. But like I said, #30 is very close to #39 so as Baylor comes down to earth maybe the schedules will reverse. But certainly not now.  :don'tcare:

Baylor is better than LSU??? lmao, do u really think ksu would stay within 10 of lsu?

well, TCU did

snowbrag, what are 3 of the top four offenses in the big 12?

Well, there's only 1 good offense in the Big 12, but these are the Offense ratings (SOS-weighted of course) for all the teams in the B12 (national rank in parentheses):

1. (3) Baylor .740
2. (32) Texas .546
3. (42) Oklahoma .525
4. (45) Iowa State .520
5. (54) Kansas State .510
6. (59) Texas Tech .501
7. (60) Oklahoma State .499
8. (83) TCU .466
9. (88) West Virginia .456
10. (113) Kansas .378
