Joan Friederich's candy jar:

Quote
“I put candy in her jar on her desk and I made all the players go in and every day she’d give them a hug and give them a piece of candy,’’ Snyder said.

I guess perhaps goes in Snyder Things, but is this Bill "Its Patterson Leavitt!" this all up?

All our losses have been by 1 score right?  If Ertz stays healthy and our coaching is less embarrassing, we would not be having anything even close to this conversation.  Our guys are (mostly) fine.

Its completely fair to say the QB injury situation has contributed a ton to these close losses.

But then again, its completely fair to say that the issues with QB injuries are partially because of the very offensive system we continue to choose to employ.

I agree, and to Dimel's credit it looks like we are finally trying to get away from that on our 3rd stringer.  Still, my point is that I think coaching likely cost us these games (and possibly a healthy first string QB), not a lack of talent on the field.

It's a pendulum that's swung all the way back to "protect at all costs". Turning east-west after getting past the LOS - I think he was coached to do that to avoid the straight on hits.  Same with an occasional keeper even after WV started overselling on the inside stretch.  "Don't even think about it kid".

I'm not sure Snyder even knows what's going on anymore. Not because he's senile, but because there is a bigger disconnect than we've ever had from a Snyder coached team. Perhaps 04 and 05 were similar. The issues with mistakes and consistently beating ourselves are frustrating.

Disconnect as in the staff telling Bill "We got this, We gonna win! Can't miss this time!"

Or

Disconnect as in "having an impact" or influence on the players in a football sense...

Defense always looks like they're given Ambien at half.

And does this staff do anything to back their players on the field to the officials? Or just some post game or mid week presser statement about trusting the officials to do their jobs?

Not during the streak but the '96 inaugural Big 12 game will always hold a special place in my heart.

Gotta love Super Mario blasting that tech dude to save the game (would have been ejected for it now).  Plus, you get Spike Dykes post game shower interview as a bonus.

Yeah - This.  Also TT kicking fubars back then, as well as a Cats failed 4th and goal on the 1 play.  Some things don't seem to change...

I feel this is what it was like for us pre-Snyder... also, I really wish mid 90's-chip on shoulder Bill would come back...

Having been there at the time, its almost worse.  Although for both of us it was/is primarily gross negligence from the admin side, they at least have conference/media revenue to throw at the problem - if they really wanted to.....

Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world
Except for Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well I left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said little boy I'm gonna make you a man

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is Lola
La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Hey!  The KU radio guy said before kickoff that KU has far more talent than Miami.  Miami just has the benefit of kids that have been in the same systems for 3 and 4 years.

Don't underestimate that experience.

Miami.....

....of Ohio?

I don't really know what's going on or care too much but I saw on the twitters that the first reply to Fitz post about moving to 247 was some guy bitching about just paying his Rivals fee the day before. Fitz just said he was sorry and Rivals wouldn't let him tell anyone sooner.

So, an actual, legitimate Fitz use of "I knew all along, but was told to sit on it." line?!?

Though an expert they had on (NPR) said that the slowness of the storm (which is what is making it so devastating) has nothing to do with climate change.

Yes, pretty obvs just observing the weather:  High pressure parked over the plains, low pressure to the east over Ohio/Tennessee valleys created a northerly air flow between them pointed straight at east Texas blocking Harvey's pressure center from moving northeastward.

“We Europeans truly have to take our fate into our own hands.”

It's about rough ridin' time.

it's a good thing that european countries view america as unreliable? you realize that this statement was made because trump refuses to stand behind article 5, right?

Unreliable compared to whom?  What else is out there?  What kind of reliability do they need? Or want? What would a reliable partner stand to gain from Europe?

No way that's real
It's real. Probably early to mid 80s (pre-Bramlage) Band Day.

Earlier yet, pretty sure.  Lights went up on east side 83/84-ish.  The east side upper stands look smaller than what was there prior to the east stadium.  I would bet this is late 70's.

The sad thing is that locker room was still deep inside Vanier 1.0 until 2.0 was built, wasn't it?  They never actually tore that thing down, just kept building around it?
