Kansas State Football / Re: Did TTech (or OU) hire Art Briles?
« on: September 11, 2023, 08:04:53 AM »
The biggest non-story story of the weekend.  OU regularly invites Barry Switzer and his players, Joe Mixon, Baker Mayfield, and on and on.  Fans are faking outrage because their offense isn't all-world and they still think they should be winning nattys (even though we're going on 23 years without one)

honestly for me, the only coaching decision that I questioned was the cute play on 3rd and 1, it seemed weird.  But let's be honest, Andy has won a bunch of games and a couple of Super Bowls here by doing those weird cute plays.  This one just didn't end up working.

We win the game with a healthy Kelce because he's getting some of those crucial targets at the end that our other guys dropped.

On what basis is Tcu "obviously" not a top 25 team? No one has any idea, that's the point.

I have 2 eyeballs that work most of the time.

for example, people wouldn't be losing their crap over Colorado beating TCU, because TCU is obviously not a top 25 team.

My ongoing take is that there shouldn't be any rankings before October at the earliest. TCU could very well be 1-3 by then. Hell they could also be 3-1!

You're 100% correct.  Preseason rankings are stupid.  Rankings in general are stupid, but I doubt they'll ever come up with a great post-season system that doesn't allow for journalist's input.

I think rankings enhance the sport regardless of if they’re antiquated or are beneficial to deciding a national champion or whatever.

They aren’t perfect, but help the layman understand which games are bigger, how non-regional teams stack up with each other, and provide sense of pride/positivity to teams, schools and fans. It’s cool when your team is ranked and then gets talked about nationally and has their highlights on national shows and stuff.

They give people something to talk about and debate and argue.

Who cares how accurate preseason ranking are? It doesn’t really matter. They also typically sort themselves out in the end anyway.

I have a hard time imagining how college sports would be better without rankings.

That would be ok if the rankings were made by unbiased voters, but they're not.

I like games where you can just do your own thing and don't have to do the missions...is that what this is?

I think I'm going to buy the big fancy new xbox later this month, and that game looks interesting.

Will Howard isn't an NFL qb.  But Skyler isn't an NFL qb, either, so what do I know.

speaking of signs of getting old, we were at a park a few days ago and I tried the monkey bars with one of my kids and pulled or tore something in my shoulder.

i never thought about 4 kids being too many, what is the cut-off between normal sized family and too big?  I feel like any more than 4 kids is a new category.

as discussed in a different thread, i'm 42 and about to be the parent of 4 girls....15, 9, 7, and newborn in December.  I did find out earlier this week that I'll be retiring the same year my yet-to-be-born will graduate high school, so I guess that'll be ok.

I really think the big 12 is number one in football. The sec only has Alabama and lsu and Georgia that it and big 10 is only Ohio state and mythigan. Big 12 we got kansas sat Oklahoma state Baylor tcu byu and central Florida. And soon to have Utah and Arizona so our football conference is better then anyone. Stop me if I'm telling lies.
Fuckin’ a, Brad

Listen fellas, I’m 7 seasons into Shameless and I’m getting a little bored. But I’m going to power through, only 5 seasons to go

I think you can stop.  I was like you and was determined to finish but it totally wasn’t worth it.

Thanks, friend.  I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons, but I think they lost their mojo and it went downhill quickly.

Saw the Bert Kreischer tour last night, pretty funny. He always appears drunk and or stoned, and laughs a lot.

I believe there were 8 comedians in total, some better than others. There was a lot of abortion/trans/pub jokes, which obviously was a little weird in OKC.
