Reminds me of this podcast episode. 10-13 year old kids ride 240 miles to visit their uncle.

Yachats is our go-to on the coast. Uncrowded beaches north of town up to Waldport, good place to let the dogs run. Nice hiking just south at Cape Perpetua. We've stayed at Deanes a few times, motel from the 1950s but clean and easy beach access.

Go to the Pine Mountain Observatory!

Lived here for 8 years and never been, maybe should do that.

God’s bridge and the main waterfall

eh, maybe if we're driving by anyways.

Yeah, see Tumalo falls in Bend, or stop at Salt Creek falls on the way to Eugene on highway 58, via cascade lakes highway. Or go through Sisters over the McKenzie pass scenic highway which just opened for the season today. The hike to Proxy falls is short and worth the stop.

2. Jimmys Johns

Bottles, imo. I don't like to have anything on my back when riding. Repair kit in a seat bag.

Good choice, great value for that bike. I still have my Trek made (Gary Fisher branded) aluminum hardtail from 20 years ago. Was my only bike for 15 years, and rode the heck out of it.

Haven't seen orphan black, but recognized her from Perry Mason.

wow! incred jealous. nice SC also! how many nights?

one night, slept about 5 hours.

24 hours of pedaling, 5 sleeping, and (math math) 8 hours of eating, changing layers, explaining to curious drivers what I was doing out there.

The SC did pretty well, but i guess it wasn't designed to have that much weight on the front. it didn't handle great bombing down that pavement.   :driving:

related pro-tip: if you have mechanical brakes, hang your bike vertically to remove any water from the cable housing before riding in freezing temps

Attempted my first bikepacking event a couple weeks ago. Beautiful 350 mile route, I made it 215 miles with 18,000ft gain before calling it.

I enjoyed his remotes the most.

Same. Truck driving school and his trip to Houston

100% yes

lived there for 3 months, and that is one of the first things that comes to mind. nice to have mountain biking right out the door though.

Everything that is new is old..Loved the segment around 22 minutes in when they talked about people on the motley fool message board pumping up a iomega. It was like the exact same comments regarding GME.

PBS Frontline show about the stock market in 1997

lol. I worked for one of the tech dotcom-ish companies mentioned  :cyclist:

Seems like most of the brokerages doing the same? Merrill, for example:

Quote
Game Stop (GME) and AMC Entertainment Holdings (AMC) are now blocked for opening transactions

Mrs. Catchacold started and runs a non-profit (animal rescue), and I'm looking into crypto donations if you all want to offset some of that pesky capital gains tax.   ;)

I've been reading about this crap all day:

I told myself I would sell if it ever got to $40K. But will I be able to pull the trigger?? Kicking myself for not buying more when it was relatively cheap.

Key for me is being able to toggle the monitors between the laptop for my job and the laptop for screwing around. I switch lots throughout the day.

Same.

I use one monitor in portrait mode, you may have seen this used by the elite coders in the popular HBO series "Silicon Valley". :nerd:

My company has a screensaver which reminds employees exactly what it is we do here.
