KU and K-State are playing for the Big 12 tournament title.  KU already won the Big 12 championship.  TIA.

Proud of Sherron, he is learning that you need to kiss before you stick your dick in, the little fatty is growing up right before our eyes.

You'd have to assume we're a solid #2 now.  2 more wins, or 1 more win + duke/ohio st loss, and we're a #1  :gocho:

I say we are on the verge of a two. Win tomorrow night and we seal it.

Then you have no problem listing the 4-1's and 4-2's ahead of the Khatz right now.  I'll wait

Haven't seen this discussed yet, but maybe I just missed it.

You haven't seen it discussed here because even the dumb posters are smart enough to understand that one man's facial hair doesn't win or lose basketball games.  Take that stupid crap to the Wabash.

Most coaches are going to be in favor of expanding the tourney, because it's good for their job security.

this talking point is so stupid.  like fans aren't going to adjust expectations according to the perceived difficulty of achieving an ncaa bid.

Exactly.  It would be like the current bowl system in college football.

Poor example, snyderites would eat OB's Depends to play in the Eagle Bank or Humanatarian Bowls every year.

FYI.

Last year's 15s - Robert Morris, Binghampton, Cal-St Northridge, Morgan State.
Last year's 14s - N. Dakota St, American, Cornell, Stephen F. Austin.

With the exception of Morgan State, it doesn't look like this year's group of 14s and 15s will be that good.  NDSU, Cornell, Binghampton, and Morgan St. were very very good teams last year.  Cornell won't be a 14 this year.

This might be a good place to start looking...

Quote
Bob Marlin of Sam Houston State University has been nominated as one of the fifteen finalists for the 2010 Hugh Durham Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award were announced on Monday.

Fourteen of the finalists were regular season champions or co-champions or finished second in their respective leagues including Randy Bennett (St. Mary's), Tad Boyle (Northern Colorado), Todd Bozeman (Morgan State), Steve Donahue (Cornell), Cliff Ellis (Coastal Carolina), Ben Jacobson (Northern Iowa), Greg Kampe (Oakland), Billy Kennedy (Murray State), Bob Marlin (Sam Houston State), Fran McCaffery (Siena), Randy Rahe (Weber State), Brad Stevens (Butler), Blaine Taylor (Old Dominion) and Mike Young (Wofford). Also on the list in Tony Shaver (William & Mary).

The Hugh Durham Award is given annually to the nation's top mid-major coach, as voted on by the 20-member panel. The winner will be presented with the award at the Final Four in Indianapolis.

How is Randy Bennett on that list and not Mark Few, they are in the same damn conference. Isn't this award a backhanded compliment, "The Most Functional Short Bus Rider Award?"

Strange to watch knowing that one of these teams could be our first round opponent.

Exactly what I have been doing, we would roll Wofford.  During the ETSU/Mercer Atlantic Sun final on Saturday ESPN had a graphic saying that the winner of that game was projected to play #1 seed Kansas State.  Oh well.

so we're a loss and a baylor run away from not being in OKC, correct?

yep

The team to focus on for stealing our spot in OKC has to be New Mexico, they will have either Wyoming or Air Force in their first game of the MWC tournament.  They have wone one close game and one blowout over each team.

Is he even "SO PROUD" to be their coach?

Seriously! I was expecting something more like the Rhodes post-game vs. Nub

First of all Fat McNeck can't muster up that much energy.  Secondly, you see the size of that visitors locker room?  If he did seize out like Rhoads, he would have taken out half of his players.  Neck's junk was literally right in the face of his players when they were sitting down.

44714
No you dumbass, pissed our opposite big doesn't move instead of standing and watching a post guy get doubled. I think the other post should move towards the ball or the high post or how bout this... the middle of the lane which is wide fracking open. Or the doubled go should throw a diagonal pass which is known as a skip pass. Or maybe our perimeter players move without the ball that is a hell of a concept.

GTFOOMF with this high crap bro... you don't know high if you aint from the west coast

I'm no expert, but if he plays more than irving this year, it will be a really troubling (like 9-7 conf bubble watch troubling)

i'd go the opposite way.  if he gets minutes, it's because he's more ready than is commonly thought, which is good.

re. the big discussion, kelly was unstoppable last night.  unstoppable.

Ya when they didn't double him... does anyone else wonder why our opposite big only stays low and doesn't move to the open spot in the lane?  Or why we don't use diagonal passes more often out of the double?

Not sure what you have been watching, you can make a very compelling argument that this is the greatest strength of the big men.  It isn't as easy as you make it out to be, but the post-to-post pass is a staple of this team.  Most of Jamar's and Curtis' dunks this season are from post-to-post passes.  I counted 3 of those passes that Jamar dropped in the Mizzou game, it was pissing me off.

ya but it is when no one rotates down on the other big is the only time we get those buckets... when teams do double now, they are rotating much quicker from the high post area. Thus not allowing us to make that easy pass.

Again I have no idea what you are talking about.  You are pissed that a post can't make a post-to-post pass while doubled and the man he is trying to pass to is defended?  Are you high?  And again, making that pass while double teamed is never easy.

Quote function is a bitch.

It's clear the closest to a post to post pass you have ever made is on x-box.  When a post man is doubled the things you are proposing are damn near impossible.  If you are on the block you really have to make that pass BEFORE the second defender arrives.  The best post passers recognize where the double is coming from and pass there while the defender is on the way.  If you wait it will likely be too late, bear in mind you are dealing with 2 defenders, a baseline, and possible 3 seconds.  Having to make that pass with 2 guys 6'7"+ is a whole hell of a lot different from seeing it on television.  Also bear in mind where the open spot is in this case is almost always where the arms of the defenders of the double is shading.

Alright the skip passes or passes to the perimeter is another story.  If the ball can get back out then you have something, but it will certainly not be on the first pass out but on the second or third since the defense is passing so much.

All this being said, you are missing the obvious, I have said it twice and I'll say it again since you are having a problem with the concept.  That post pass when doubled is not easy, like you think it is.  If it were easy no big man would ever be doubled.

Don't think I'll be completely over it until we are announced as a 2 seed on Sunday.

After we beat OSU you'll feel much better.  What we need right now is a win.

We better beat OSU, if I wasted money on OKC tickets I'm going to bust someones ass.

What a gold mine in that article.

Sundvold with a gem:

Quote
Players who give great effort and good coaching are important, Sundvold said.

“But coaches can draw up all the plays they want and it doesn't make much difference,'' he said. “Remember, Bob Knight coached in this league, and he didn't win anything.''

Unfortunate that he doesn't bring it that strong on his broadcasts.  He is a good analyst but like every other Big 12 analyst he refuses to step on any toes.

Or this?

Quote
Overall, Osborne has paid close attention to the influence of AAU coaches on recruiting.

“There's nothing illegal about that,'' he said. “But most everybody in basketball today decries that the high school coach is not nearly as influential as the AAU coach.''

That quote put it over the top for me.  Your basketball program has no chance when the AD doesn't understand the relationship between all D1 players and grassroots basketball.  He sounds like a 72 year old GPC poster that loves 2A O-Linemen and hasn't seen a basketball game in 30 years.

It amazes me that people don't see what Frank is doing here, he's done it with 3 different groups of freshmen.  Agree or disagree with the philosophy should be the discussion here.  These are the exact same discussions we were having with Jacob Pullen, Ron Anderson, Jamar Samuels, and now Wally and Rodney.

it is what it is and with one exception it has worked when it comes to developing these players.

The biggest issue I have with title 9 is the bull dykes in charge insist that Football be counted in the scholarship count.   If the football scholarship count as it relates to Title 9 were eliminated or at least halved,  then it would be much better.

As it relates to K-State chick ball, I am all for completely dropping the program and starting a women's soccer and softball program.

We could take about $10 million out of the basketball practice facility project, use 1/3 of it to build respectable softball and soccer venues, and then pump the rest into improvements inside the arena portion of Bramlage itself.

Make it rain . . . K-State women's hoops is an annual $1.2 to $1.5 million dollar black hole, even when they got the big crowds from the Clay Center gal days, they still lost money hand over fist.

I'm aware of all of this and none of it addressed the very clear points of my post.  Eliminating women's basketball is such a stupid talking point it shouldn't even be addressed, it isn't going to happen, anywhere so why talk about it?  It's like talking about how better it would be if humans can fly.

Big 12 All-Defensive Team

Ekpe Udoh, Baylor
Cole Aldrich, Kansas
Jacob Pullen, Kansas State
J.T. Tiller, Missouri
Dogus Balbay, Texas
Bryan Davis, Texas A&M

This team is bogus, why are there 3 centers on a 6 man team?  Pullen is a mild surprise.  There is really no reason "ain't no seats" should be 1st team all conference, but he will.
