The loyalty talking point might be well deserved, but frank was somewhat loyal during his tenure here (save the miami thing and this whole debacle)

Let them keep ignoring the hometown discount he accepted two years ago and the fact he stayed here when his relationship with his boss was completely crap.  Lashing out is how some people are coping, its no big deal really.

If that's true, that's disappointing, but not the least bit surprising.

Why?  If your former boss was a bitch, tell people your former boss was a bitch, its the American way.  You don't want people telling others you're a bitch, don't be a bitch.

Kietz's bullshit about Frank should be quiet because Currie gave him a chance is his tuck showing.Currie didn't make Frank a millionaire, Frank, his assistants, and his players made him a millionaire; Currie didn't do crap, he didn't even hire him.  If Currie didn't give Frank a new contract Frank would have made MORE money at Depaul or Oregon.  The loyalty tucks seem to forget that Frank gave K-State the old hometown discount.

eff John Currie

I think trashing your former employer, when YOU decided to leave, is bush at best.

Not if you think you are leaving a hostile work environment.  If we believe the report that the last straw was the letter to the fans, I would tell people that my boss he was a lying bad person too.

oh jesus christ. frank wasn't being abused. If Currie's a liar, say he's a liar publicly and get him fired. In fact, he should have done that earlier (if Currie). Don't tell people you can't recruit to Manhattan - that hurts the entire university more than Currie.

I haven't made a statement of fact yet, I can't, that would make me a

wait for it

a hypocrite.

I don't know if the man thought.  I don't know if he's telling people you can't recruit to Manhattan.  It seems clear that he thinks that John Currie made his work environment unbearable, whether he thinks it's unbearable, abusive, or the actual work I used hostile, is a hair split.

This new player mutiny angle is transforming a small portion of my rage and pain into curiosity.

Same here. I mean it makes sense. He runs off a couple players a year and cant recruit. Maybe he's a major ass hat.

So we're serious about the can't recruit thing?

I think it was mostly based on principal, and that was a stupid decision. Make sense?

Makes perfect sense, only because I know you have the good sense to know that this is how you see it without knowing all that went into the decision and not as an absolute fact.

Some of us who are enjoying pointing out the "loyalty" comments are just doing it to point Frank is just a dude who likes money, likes people to kiss his ass, likes to do what he wants when he wants and likes to feel like a great virtuous person when he is just a crap bag like the rest of us.

I get why he left, I think we are going to hear more about the reasons as well.

There is nothing wrong with zinging him about his obvious hypocriscy

I don't see it as hypocrisy.  If you hate lying, but tell a lie are you a hypocrite?  I believe in loyalty, when I turn in a letter of resignation this week (absolutely happening BTW), I hope my clients don't think I'm a hypocrite.  Frankly I just hate my moron bosses and want a new challenge.

I predict Frank will struggle to take any players with him.

Yeah, that is not an issue.  Now players scattering to the wind, there is a whole other issue

Who outside of the seniors-to-be (less likely they would leave) are we worried about losing?

angel and gipson and diaz

Angel maybe.  Gipson, a less-certain maybe.   Frank apparently didn't think Diaz good enough to see the floor for the last 2 months of the season outside of that 30 seconds against Syracuse (huge rough ridin' mistake not giving him Vics minutes during the season).

Angel a maybe? You can just keep your opinions to yourself from now on. Thanks.

I suppose the answer to my question was no.

Make them take racial tolerance classes

Because the state of Kansas and its 91% white population knows a lot about racial tolerance I'm sure.

don't pout and leave

It used to be on top of that building in the background.  Now it's on the ground.  Sometimes progress comes slowly.

Point is that Kansas progressed past that hundreds of years ago.

anyway, back to Southern Carolina and their racist ways...

He cried when he got his contract and we all thought "my God, he's going to be here forever."

"We all" didn't think crap.  That's your fault homie, only you can think for you.
"Forever" was an exaggeration.  So was "we all," I guess.

My point, though, is that after receiving his contract and his "loyalty" mantra that was repeated ad nauseum to the point that it was practically cliche around here, I think that it was more than reasonable to expect him to stay at least the term of his contract.  In hindsight, I think it's fair to question and to roll your eyes at the bullshit that Frank served to us the last 5 years.

Sure its fair.  All I know is that people every single quit jobs for whatever reason, jobs that they once thought that they would have "forever."  Just because Frank is rich, doesn't mean that he shouldn't feel and behave like the rest of us, IMHO.  He's a basketball coach I don't hold his actions, morality, or decision making in any more regard than I do my mechanic.

To go to a shithole based entirely on what he believes?  Alpha.

I know many people are trolling their asses off on this subject, but the people who truly banging the loyalty drum don't get this at all.

I completely get it, and think it's completely rough ridin' stupid.

So you think it was about money?

No, where did I say that? It was about being a hard headed bad person to one person above all else.

It was a question.  If he was being a hard headed bad person then it was about principal right?  It's either money and/or principal.  Hard headed means he is set in his ways/values, no?

And to think, MIR threw a conniption fit because I suggested that Frank might have interest in Illinois.  Now he's off to South f*cking Carolina.  Unbelievable.

What the eff are you talking about psycho?  I did no such thing.  It's late, you drinking or smoking again?

When is Frank gonna call a team meeting and let the players know what is going on?   I can't imagine he'd pull a chickenshit move and sprint out of town without showing them some common courtesy.

Fuktard, Frank has been out of town for over a week.

New side of story from the inside on men's ball team. MUST READ   Reply
Take this for what it's worth. A source with extremely close ties to players told me that the players wanted Frank gone. They had numerous team discussions that they were willing to go to extreme measures, including transferring, if Frank were to stay. This explains why Frank would leave in such a cloud of dust. This also explains Frank being absent for the team meeting as well as the players being "surprisingly happy". Again, take it for what it's worth, but my source is an EXTREMELY credible source. No news on recruits, but as far as current players go, all should be well.

Well, I think that's completely bullshit.  Better than the alternative.  Still think it's bullshit.

iirc ryan has been right on stuff before. might be currie leaking this stuff too.

I love the soap opera aspect of all this.

:flush:  he's also been annoyingly and aggressively wrong too.  BTW that doesn't account for the assistants being absent from the meeting as well.

41194

I agree. I will be shocked if any of our players follow Frank.

Following Frank won't be the issue if releases are granted.  If they did get releases they would certainly be conditional.  In many cases of player transfers of this nature the player will go to schools that already recruited them.  There's also the issue of Frank's already existing roster.  Frank is the BITB in Franking, but he won't be Franking players who have never seen play.  See BCG Franking about 6 or 7 dudes this off season.

41195
Who the eff are we worried about transferring? Angel, maybe, but that's about it.  Would take that loss to get a coach who can recruit.

I'm not worried about any of them until I see that KSU is giving releases.  The pragmatic side of me hopes that they give releases to anyone who wants one.  The "I want my team to be good" side doesn't want any of them getting released.

Does anyone ever give releases before a new coach is hired?

Nope, also didn't have anything to do with my post

k, thx bully

I'm sorry Rusty, I'm hurting here man.  If someone dumps a bucket of blood on Currie tomorrow I'll feel better and not be as mean.

You guys keep throwing guys who are well known sleazy names for the basketball kiffin.  UT was clowned for Kiffin because he had no head coaching experience, the world wasn't aware of the depth of his sleaziness.  Jerome Tang is clearly the best combo of sleaze and sexiness.
