It's probably a better hire than I'm giving it credit for, but I just really am not too keen on anointing a former NFL coach a savior.  I really think going after someone like Pellini would've been a smarter call, but who knows.  Lovie is certainly well respected around Chicago and maybe he can inject some life back into the program.  Certainly a better decision than sticking with Cubit and better eons better than Zook/Beckman.

Here's hoping!

100% agreed, Lovie will make a splash but he certainly isn't ready made for college football. Also he's going to need to put together a good, diverse college familiar staff; he isn't going to set the world on fire dominating Chicago high school football recruiting.

The Cats will be preseason #7 I suspect

Teams ahead: KU, Texas, OU, ISU, WVU, BAY
Teams behind: Tech, TCU, OSU

I bet we'll be predicted to finish 8th again. OSU has the best underclassmen PG in the league, and they are bringing in a very solid recruiting class. Not to mention, I'm assuming they get Phil Forte back for another year. They should actually be pretty salty next year.

Tech will be picked ahead of us, I know we were the youngest team in the history of American sports but they're returning more minutes and scoring than we are.

Part of the implication is that its harder to win at Tech than it is at KU.

Well that's a poor implication, either way I don't know what that has to do with Bill Self getting the best players for his system and winning with them every damn year. As shitty as Lubbock is you think its much easier to get players Ames, Lawrence, Manhattan, Morgantown, Stillwater, Waco, and Norman?

I would've voted for Self, but IMO Tech is the worst place to recruit to when you factor in location, basketball history, brand recognition, and in state competition.

None of that stuff matters if you have the right coach. Basketball history and in state competition doesn't matter at all. College basketball players will literally go anywhere to play for the coach they want. Bill Walker would have followed Huggins to Weber State if he had to, Beasley was going to follow 'Te to Charlotte.

Currie is scheduled to make an appearance at DU's chapter meeting on Wednesday.  That should be fun.

Permission to attend as an honorary member if crap goes down by then?
Anyone can attend our meetings.

So, this is what we're doing, right? All of goEMAW in attendance, nooses in hand?

I don't know much but I know I'm not showing up anywhere with a noose in my hand or any place with a noose within 200 miles.

Such bullshit, rough ridin' Larin disallowed goal and dumb seattle turf + Benny baby :curse: I won't touch my team again until September

If Josh Pastner got fired this season he would receive a $10.7 million buyout, the biggest in college basketball history.

We'll negotiated buyout Josh.

Do you have a special affinity for losers?
Is he really a loser if he makes that much bank off of being a loser?

Fantastic point

I thought Zusi played well in the first half. Wouldn't put him in the hot garbage category. Also a shut out win to start the season at Seattle is nothing to not be satisfied with.

Seattle parked the bus playing a man down for an entire half, and playing after flying from Mexico mid week. We needed a miracle save and a fluke 35 yard goal from a central defender to get the result. I'm happy we got the three points but it was far from an awe inspiring and confidence building performance.

27208
Yeah, that's the general clause for any coach; quit, you don't get your money. That being said normally the AD will make a deal with a coach they want to quit. There is no way Pastner is quitting Memphis for TCU, literally none. If Memphis gave him 10.7 mil to quit, he still wouldn't do it. Memphis is a top 25 job, TCU is one of the worst power five jobs.

KSUW,

Why do you fight so passionately for the unborn, but want to abandon the less fortunate, living in this country?

Jesus told him this was the right way.

27211
I read somewhere that mizzou is currently banned from post season.  I forgot about that.

Also not competing in the SEC tournament.

27212
you mean like smu?

They're not competing in the AAC tournament, neither is Louisville in the ACC.

Self should win it every year they don't share the title

Why should just meeting expectations be rewarded?  He's exceeded them exactly one year because of a lucky shot

If they're expected to win the conference every single year and they do it I think you just answered your own question.

Umm How?  Regardless of expectations, that award should be based on progress.

How do you progress more than winning the conference every year?

What I originally said, which you obviously didn't read.  He exceeded one year, and it was because of a coaches son who made a shot. Disregarding that fact is disingenuous

I disregarded it because you're talking about post season and we're talking about the conference coach of the year. I hired that you would have realized your dumb ass mistake. The conference COY is awarded before the post season starts.

The argument of unexpected improvement vs maintaining really high levels of success comes up often in COY debates. I'm not sure either answer is wrong or right.

In this year's Big 12 I would pick 1. Huggs 2. Tubby 3. Self.

Right, but what he's done isn't simply meeting some basic expectation.

The Atlantic Sun should lose their auto bid for putting a post season ineligible team in their conference tournament, wtf was that?

That wasn't very satisfying. Jordi, Graham, and Connor were hot garbage, at least Connor was good in the first half, that second half was ridiculous and I don't mean that in no nice way.

The Orlando RSL game really was nuts. I find myself hating TF out of Orlando.

Cyle tho

27221
Not only two in stoppage time but two the last minute of stoppage time.

27223
This Orlando RSL match is rough ridin' crazy. Two red cards, a travesty of a disallowed goal, a converted penalty, and Orlando absolutely should have gotten 3 reds.

Tubby as COB is absurd

lol wut

There were like 700 d1 transfers last year, everyone is a possibility. DJamer specifically is probably the likeliest to transfer if he graduates because he won't have to sit.
