Guys who served in the military aren't able to fathom not standing up for the anthem/flag. You have to just accept that their view of what it means is different than civilians. Even if its not about military, to them its about military. Gotta give those old vets grace on these things.

She's also a product of the times.  Congress has the lowest favorability rating of all time and it's still dropping.  People's view of politics and politicians in general has never been lower.

This is the best point made in the thread.

I sprained my ankle for the first time sunday and thought it would be better to amputate it for about an hour before I had access to ice because it was very painful and the swelling was bad.  Now the bruising looks super gross and if I had more pigment it probably wouldn't be so noticeable/disgusting.

sprained ankles are a very weird injury.
My best friend in Chicago is a black fella and a couple years ago he started getting white splotches all over his arm where his skin would basically lose pigment.  It freaked him out a ton because he thought it was going to happen to his face and hands and stuff (which it sometimes does).  It didn't though -- just some spots on his arms stuck to his arms.

This is actually pretty common for black people

it is?

You should, it's an intellectually empty statement made by a partisan crap head.

There really is a disproportionality between the amount of dislike for Clinton and the amount that her actions would typically warrant. It's like the disproportionality between the amount of dislike for Obama and the amount that his actions would typically warrant. That's no surprise, though. We have plenty of sexism and racism in this country.

Yeah

But he also called Obama "unelectable except perhaps against Attila the Hun," and wrote, "I cannot imagine America electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values." Penn proposed targeting Obama's "lack of American roots."

that memo does not in any way question obama's citzenship.  it discusses whether there might be political advantage to be gained in highlighting obama's multicultural family and his childhood in indonesia (e.g. factually non-american aspects of his "roots").  this is explicitly identity politics, which i was critical of during the conventions - that what matters is not just the ideas and policies that obama espoused, but his background and group identity, so i'm glad that the memo writer was wrong and that americans chose obama's ideas (or less hopefully, that they simply preferred obama's identity to clinton's).

That's fair but they absolutely knew that opening that door as a strategy meant for the masses would not produce conversation with the nuance that you explored. The birther stuff was started by some loony republicans in the early spring of 2008 and then picked up by Hillary supporters a month later. The birther stuff and the multiculturalism as a potential weakness are cards played from the same deck attempting to do the same thing. Clinton didn't say Obama was born in Kenya but she, like McCain, had plenty of chances to get people to fall back and she didn't because she needed the votes.

It's really just too bad that we had to play Stanford in our first game. I'd love to get a shot at them now that the coaches are calling more than five plays.

No. She had surrogates that absolutely questioned Barack Obama's citizenship status, or his "otherness." That is a fact, confirmed by Reggie Love. The Hillary spokesperson on CNN denied Trump's false claim that "Hillary started the birther movement."

it's just a shame there was no media around eight years ago to document clinton's or the clinton campaign's birtherism.  oth, if we had had a media back then perhaps the message would have disseminated and clinton might have won that primary.  kind of a double-edge alternate history, i guess.

You're changing the goalposts, I never accused Hillary and/or Bill Clinton of being birthers, Trump did that and I said he lied about that. There's plenty of documentation about Hillary supporters/surrogates questioning Obama's citizenship or how American he is. I'm not sure if your memory is bad or your inability to google is but claiming that this wasn't documented at the time is laughably false.

My issue with the Clinton campaign is that at the time, was the tone towards Obama, it led me to stop being a Hillary supporter. They weren't saying these things but they were out there, it is worth noting that Bill Clinton called the Obama campaign a joke and a farce. Hillary stayed out of the talk, didn't question his otherness, didn't stand up for him either. John McCain did do very publicly, Hillary didn't though. And now when Trump brings this up her campaign can play stupid, and have plausible deniability because she never did it. If she had any shred of integrity about her she'd say something to the effect of "while I take exception to your claim that I started the birther movement, I do regret the tone that surrounded the campaigns at the time."

Wait, what? How did I get in that group, I've never been critical of the Clinton Foundation?

you're a weirdo clintonophobe, believing things about her that have no basis in fact.  last night, for example, you were irate that cnn used the complete lack of evidence that clinton had ever engaged in birtherism to excuse her of having been a birther.  goddamn mainstream media.

Or, do they just run around hiding their ridiculous earnings in dubious foundations?

it's funny, because trump is accused of doing exactly that, in addition to using his foundation to pay personal and business expenses, while the clinton foundation is independently judged as well-run and effective by charity judging organizations.

but weirdo clintonophobes like dax, mir and cns never let their ignorance get in the way of what they want to believe.

tonight was an unmitigated disaster for trump.

How? He stayed on his message, there was nothing that happened tonight that will turn supporters away from him. I think he played himself at the very beginning when he was trying to justify Hilrod's accusation that he hasn't paid taxes, "THAT'S SMART!" wtf? His moronic ass supporters won't give two shits that he hasn't paid taxes when 99.999% of them has mumbled at some time something about their taxes going to food stamps and Obama Phones.

I'm really glad you and hillary pay more taxes than legally obligated. It's good for the country.

You think he's hiding income to meet his legal obligation?

What are you talking about? I assume he isn't under IRS investigation or Hills would have brought that up. The constant audits obviously can't find anything wrong with his returns. It's interesting that she does bring up questions about his returns that nobody outside the IRS should have access to.

I didn't say anything about IRS investigation. He said that his revenue was $600+ million. Maybe I'm wrong but to not pay any income tax on that much income requires some creative accounting that doesn't mesh with his message or constituency.

The IRS doesn't allow "creative accounting" during audits. I'm sure his accountants are very good and know the relevant tax codes well. Income doesn't necessarily mean that money goes into your pocket if your a business owner. You can sink 100% back into your company(s) if you want.

I understand you believe 100% of his constituency are complete morons and don't understand this, but most successful business owners should be a very large part of that constituency, and they get it.

Stop lecturing me about the IRS and audits. You are intentionally dodging the larger point. What percentage of Trump voters, including Trump himself, would pitch a crap fit if any other politician not only didn't pay income tax but brag about not paying income tax?

Wait, trump could potentially nominate Mike rough ridin' Lee to the Supreme Court and Ted Cruz is okay with that? Cruz is absolutely more qualified for the Supreme Court than Mike Lee is, ksuw is more qualified for the Supreme Court. Is this Ted's long play, is he rolling over for a potential Supreme Court nomination, since Donald appears to be willing to nominate politicians that dabble in law?

The only qualification for serving on the supreme court is an understanding of the constitution. Probably best if they aren't lawyers that understand how to manipulate the english language.

You don't think that it's somewhat important that when presiding over the highest court in the land that you have experience on the bench?

No. All of the arguing over legal minutia take place long before they get to the supreme court. The only question should be if the lower court ruling conflicts with the constitution, yes or no.
Hmmm, interesting, and historically incongruent with supreme court appointees.

Yes, that's the tradition, but not a requirement.

Who said it was?

I honestly don't care about the issue at hand, MIR. I was just clearly stating how hypocritical you are at times on the do's/don'ts of bbs'ing on this board. You apparently think you've got it down, while slapping other peoples hands during the process.

That kinda comes off as an unhinged lunatic who has self esteem/control issues. An lol at you saying I look out to fight people on here, but you don't. T's & P's.

I didn't ask you about the issue at hand, I asked you how observing a person had a stupid opinion effects my life in a negative manner. I keep having to ask because you keep saying it but not answering the question. I'll ask a different way, maybe it will stick this time; how does observing a stupid opinion espoused on a message board negatively effects me or makes my observation of you hypocritical? Did I say you shouldn't use the message board to share your observations?

Also who am I having a fight with on here?

I think WC might be referencing stuff like this:
Quote
Tell me who you're voting for and why you're doing so and I can tell you why that's stupid, its incredibly distasteful to do so though.

But that's none of my business.

Not what he's talking about, this is more appropriate for what stunted is talking about. I never said stunted and his friend are morons for potentially voting for trump, they're morons for thinking he won that debate. I'm guessing you can see the difference.

Tell your good friend he's a stupid eff. The only thing Donald popped her on was trade but he's too stupid to say something of actual substance that would actually stick. As someone who despises both of these deplorables; I feel real comfortable categorizing anyone who thinks Trump won this debate as a brain dead moron unfit for breeding humans.
Wow! So relaxed. So calm. Loves life. Doesn't have the problems of us other peasants on this board. We're all witnesses.

idiot friend

lol

So close-minded...you absolutely cannot fathom anyone having a different (and very reasonable) opinion than yours, and something as little as a "meh I think x" can launch you into a fury of hate, name-calling, and anger. How do you react to actual adversity irl?

I really recommend meditating. Once you get rid of your emotional and neurotic thinking, you'll have a clear mind and see the world as the beautiful place that it is. The world isnt out to get you. Check out this video when you're ready to free your mind.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=fmA6BqvC0xs

Opinions can be very stupid and open to ridicule. Thinking that Donald Trump won that debate is stupid because it cannot be reasonably justified.

I mean the other day you stated how cool, calm, and collect you are and how you don't take the internet too seriously like the rest of us dumbasses. I just find it entertaining how irritable you get at times, on matters that don't even effect you. Enjoy your Tuesday, MIR. Go cats!

Again, I'll ask. How does observing stunted's dumbass friend have any effect on my life? Does it strain you to make observations?
