And to expand further, what we're doing with K-StateHD.tv is actually way ahead of the curve.  I know that it's not huge now, but for much bigger schools, programs, professional teams, etc., is the future of the medium, as we move to a streaming future, the distribution of your content directly from the team/organization as opposed to the team/organization selling it through a middle man?

LHN, YES, etc. are kind of the future, but they're just cable channels now.  Does a consumer want to pay 9.99 a month for their team only as opposed to paying 19.99 for sports and teams they don't care about to watch a couple of games a month for a team they care about?  Would they rather have access to Texas, Royals, Chiefs, etc. specific content for less money?

I realize that future is most likely less profitable than the current model, so the incentive to go there isn't high, but as people cut more and more from their entertainment bills, and what you watch becomes more customized to what you want, is that where teams will need to ultimately go to salvage what customers really want?

kstatehd.tv is about 2 years behind the curve in digital content and 2 years ahead of the curve in sport content delivery. It's missing a mobile app, Amazon FireTV/Xbox/PS4 App and things like chromecast abilities.

That said, kstatehdtv can't handle that. There is a gap right now that some app creator/manager could fill by working with a school's third tier/rebroadcast rights to carry on their app ecosystem. If the P5 conferences knew what was best for them, they would start unifying and form this outside of ESPN and Fox. I know they like the guaranteed money in contracts, but there are a ton of possible avenues that they should be exploring.

What do they have to gain by leaving ESPN and FOX? Both already have all the digital broadcasting possibilities available.

He needs to get Joe Gordon on and they can chat about the coaching staff.

I don't love the federation getting fined for its moron fans but what a ridiculous claim by Mexico.

25405
 I said he should have used him. My argument was simply that I understand why he didn't use him in the 9th, and it turned out not pitching him in the 9th was the right decision. I feel pretty much exactly how the authors of those two fangraphs articles feel. There was definitive logic on how Buck used the pen in the ninth and the tenth, kinda, O'day was questionable. The longer he went and the worst the pitcher used made it more inexcusable.

Freaking out about him not coming in the ninth doesn't make sense because it's kind of arbitrary. Why not freak out when he didn't come in after Tillman was lifted or at any point in the 6th, 7th, or 8th? If he brought Britton in for a perfect 7th and 8th and the Orioles won in the 10th we'd still have dorky seamheads playing the result.

Why did you post that and why did the person who uploaded it label it that way? Did you post this to show us that this kid has a mother that is a leather purse with arms and eyes?

Ell had a weak 1st year too.

I'm assuming you mean his sophomore year. Not to belabor the point but he had a ton of turnovers but man was he fun to watch. Here was his stat line for that season

Passing
Rk   Player           Cmp   Att   Pct   Yds   Y/A   AY/A   TD   Int   Rate
1   Ell Roberson   54   136   39.7   855   6.3   4.2   4   8   90.5

Rushing
Rk   Player           Att   Yds   Avg   TD
2   Ell Roberson   142   643   4.5   9

Look at how different our offense looked

full game, fun game worth a watch

Like I said, I'm all in for Sisco but if the coaches don't trust him they need to sit him for Delton but there is nothing indicating that they would be any less risk averse

25408
i'll take the crap out of that.

Uh....that has him leading in two battleground states, one of which has the same EC votes as Kansas.

25409
They are "commercial free" but there is plenty of advertising going on.

Such that NBC itself is recouping the money they paid the soccer league?

Bigly

Well, my understanding was that West Virginia's defense was bad, gave up a ton of yards to BYU.........and they looked like a ton of all american's out there on d against our pathetic offense.........sooooooo

They gave up a ton of rushing yards, which makes our offensive "game plan" that we used look so amateurish.

25411
I'm curious about how well EPL is doing with their early games.  Do you have a link that I can read on how NBC is doing with their broadcasts?

But not curious enough to google the info? It's really easy to find.

shouldn't the networks/providers that ultimately make money based on people watching and advertisers targeting those people be determining that the content isn't worth what the conferences are seeking?

I guess I'm not sure what you're proposing. Its clear they are making lots of money with these college rights deals, so whatever small profits or losses they are taking with the ESPNU games are tolerable because of the money they make off of games on ESPN2, ESPN, and ABC. No league has more shitty ESPNU quality inventory than the ACC and ESPN just signed a new 20 year deal with them at a time when media sentiment seemed to think these deals would get scaled back.

Regardless of the outcome, Showalter should be fired because Britton isn't in the game

Why? If he pitched him in the ninth and tenth they would have wasted him. I do think Showalter should have walked Encarnation in the 11th and brought in Britton with one out and the bases loaded.
Pitching your best pitcher in a tie game in the 9th and later against the opponent's best hitters is far from wasting him. A save isn't more valuable than keeping the game going. In the ninth he should have pitched to Donaldson leading off, and he definitely should have pitched once there were men on first and second and nobody out. You have the best reliever in baseball, and he gets to watch the highest leverage spots because some old school manager wants to keep him waiting for a save situation that may never appear.

Does Britton hit? Even if Showalter uses him in the ninth and tenth we're still having a conversation about how Showalter used Britton after Jimenez blows the save after Baltimore takes the lead.

If I was a network exec, I'd aggressively argue that the big 12 shouldn't expect a dime for their games that end up on espnu/news/3/other, as the network's doing the conference a favor by putting the crap teams on tv so their handful of fans even have the option to watch.

Problem for you is there are other sports networks that need the content and they'd love to have the Big 12 so the conference then walks with their content then you're left with either Conference USA games or fishing while your competitor has West Virginia vs. Oklahoma State. I know it's popular here to crap on everything but within the context of live sports rights in this country, Big 12 football is valuable when it comes to number of televisions reached and the ratings of the games.

This isn't without recent precedent, ESPN didn't take seriously the growth of soccer in this country and they lost the rights to the English Premier League to NBC who's now making a ton of cash playing soccer matches that start at 7AM on the east coast and ESPN has literally nothing to counter.

Warmack clearly needs to be our #1 running back after this last game.  I've been on the Silmon train for sometime but Warmack really impressed me with the way he hit the holes.

Our defense is legit. Only worrisome trend I see is that teams continue to go deep against DJamer Reed and he has been beat multiple times now.

No need to really comment on how terrible settling for field goals were. WVU went for it on fourth how many times ?

Pringle is a solid WR, but I think this is going to be a transition year for him.

Wasting timeouts, terrible clock management, kickoffs out of bounds is becoming a trademark of Kstate for the past few years. It's time someone should be fired.

I'm not sure how you can be a Kstate coach and live with yourself after that loss. No way we should have ever lost that game even with subpar QB play. Ertz is terribly inconsistent but I'm not sure we have anyone any better.

You just now realized that Warmack is our best RB and Silmon sucks?  Silmon has and will continue to be our worst RB.  Every carry we give to him should be given to Alex Barnes.  Barnes is faster, bigger, stronger and 10x the player Silmon will ever be.

Did you have our assistant coaches ranked backwards as well?  Let me guess, Sean, Dana, Del, and Dickey on top with Coleman and Seiler on bottom?  Yeah, you're obviously doing a great job with your reviews.

You have eight posts and half of them are completely freaking out on Silmon. Its obvious the coaches view him as the third of fourth choice at RB. I gotta ask, what's the beef with this dude who barely plays?

The coaches view him as 3rd or 4th choice at RB?  Is that why he started at RB for the WVU game? Because the staff thought he was our 3rd or 4th string?

Jones and Warmack both had more carries in the WVU game and on the season. I'm not trying to be a smart ass or attacking you, I just want to know what your issue with him is. It seems like an unbalanced amount of animus.

25416
I'm sure I've posted this before but how in the world are college football conferences getting TV networks to pay them for this stuff when a bunch of content goes on espnu and fs1 and the primary companies that are willing to pay to advertise during those games are selling flashlights and garden hoses and crap?

Because the stuff on ESPNU and FS1 are just content fillers. They pay for these deals for Louisville vs. Clemson and OU vs. TCU which certainly aren't getting Christmas lights on a projector and flexseal as ads.

irl Clayton Bigsby :sdeek:

Not really. I mean there are self-hating racist black people just like there are the same in every race.

25418
Well it was this guy so IDK about the racist angle

What info am I missing here that absolves this man from being potentially racist?
The guy could totally be racist, just probably not in the same way a person might expect from someone who runs on the field in a gorilla suit and an "All Lives Matter" T-shirt.

Why not, because he has braids? Black people can definitely be racist in the way one would expect from someone wearing a gorilla suit and all lives matter t-shirt. I will say him being black is a surprise but I wouldn't be stunned if he shared views that we would think a white guy in that mug shot would.

Trump had literally said scores of things much worse than things said by candidates in the past that has doomed their campaigns. We can't even keep up with the stupid crap this guy says. It is amazing that he has said so many ridiculous things that this barely registers. I can't believe the campaign hasn't felt the least bit of pressure to apologize for this.

I actually really liked running the slant there. Heath was wide open. We should have been running that on every first down until they stopped blitzing up the middle, too. Nothing is easy on the ground when the defense stacks the box and run blitzes. Instead we kept checking into 20 yard bombs down the sideline that Ertz had to chuck up off of his back foot.

Without context the slant there was fine. It was an odd time to call it given we were running the ball with pretty good success it was also bad because they didn't plan on going for it if the play failed. We did that on a running down but on passing downs when they were blitzing we were running these deep routes, it was stupid. Not only do the coaches not trust Ertz, they must not think our receivers are good enough route runners to get open on a three step drop.
