My man Oil Can Boyd.  You don't have to have any understanding whatsoever of who this man is.  Also bear in mind that this interview was NOT on satellite radio.  His cell phone sucks for about the first 45 seconds or so and then business picks up and this "crap" gets lively.

Click the link and then continue to enjoy goEMAW while listening to the ramblings of a pissed off dude.

So we're announcing a new head coach in 15 minutes and the athletic department still have not issued a press release stating that they are hiring oscar Weber as head coach.

Don't know where to put this so I'm making another thread for it.
1.  When Frank said he gave players money, he did not specify college student athletes, he just said when kids went to college.  I'm assuming he had plenty of former players who went to college but didn't play.
2.  If he did give money to college athletes and normal college students, and former athletes that didn't even go to college; good for him.
3.  High school coaches giving money, meals, gifts, etc. to players is very very common.  Confession time.  When I was in high school my family didn't have a lot of money.  I had more than one high school basketball coach give me money, food, clothing, etc.  And I can say with absolute certainty that I wasn't the only player while I was there.  My coach also gave me a fairly sizable loan when I sstarted college.  He actually ended up hiring me on his staff when my quest to walk on at GCCC ended, but at the time of the loan he didn't know he was going to hire me.

Anyway the point of this is that anyone with any cursory knowledge of high school sports, including Mark Emmert, were not shocked by Frank's comments.

Essentially Flyertalk / George Zimmerman is a piece of crap
« on: March 21, 2012, 04:38:19 PM »
So here's the deal.  I was going to avoid posting on this topic but with each and every new article I read I get more and more aggregated.  It certainly would be a perverse pleasure to post this over at Wabash or the World Forum, but I feel like I might eventually get driven to homicidal thoughts over there.

So my thing before today was to be annoyed by people focusing on the races of Zimmerman and Martin.  Who cares if the dude is racist or not, he killed a person in cold blood and is as free as the rest of us.  But then I read this just now.

  http://gma.yahoo.com/trayvon-martin-killing-911-tape-reveals-possible-racial-005007672--abc-news.html

My view remains that the races of Zimmerman & Martin shouldn't be the focus, but what in the holy hell is the Sanford PD doing here?  The Chief should be fired and should be the target of a DOJ inquest for this line alone:

We are taking a beating over this,” said Lee, who defends the investigation. “This is all very unsettling. I’m sure if George Zimmerman had the opportunity to relive Sunday, Feb. 26, he’d probably do things differently. I’m sure Trayvon would, too.”

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Can someone please tell Newt...

that while he is "traveling the nation to every ethnic neighborhood" to talk about food stamps that there are more Whites on food stamps than blacks, Hispanics, or any other group.

Someone is going to have to explain to me why he is focusing this food stamp talking point on black people.  I can't help but to think he's a raging racist but I'm open to different viewpoints.

Best player in America.  Unfortunately for him he's surrounded by a band of scrubs.  KUs bench was outscored by UND by a margin of 20-9.  All nine were scored by Teahan, and 6 of those nine were scored the last 5 minutes of the game.  The bench was 3-12, with 10 rebounds and 4 assists.  So for the "they're the favorites until someone else beats them" crowd, please tell me how they're going to win the conference with a 6 player rotation?

Oh yeah, when considering their bench "production" bear in mind the starting center played eight whole minutes.

3/5 of the starting line up combined for 3-12 from the field, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, 8 turnovers, 12 fouls, 8 points, a +/- of -8,251,926.

Would have won despite that, but the head coach decided that Will Spradling, Juevol Myles, and Devon Peterson could play extended minutes.  Idiot.  Nick and 'Tay don't deserve this crap, I hope they quit today.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Bracket Generator
« on: January 10, 2011, 04:18:24 AM »
prolly should have done this last week, oh well these would be good to revisit in March.  I think KSU goes undefeated at home and sweep the nortards.  The game I struggled with was at A&M.  I picked the q@s losing to the Ags simply because I liked them at 11-5 a hell of a lot more than I do at 12-4.  I suppose I could also see a loss at Colorado but I didn't feel strongly enough to pick it.  The order and records of the teams aren't AS important to me, the fact that I think 5-6 teams could be within 1st place with 3 games to play is much more important.  I don't believe in Kansas, they have struggled against some average to below average teams.  I don't think this conference has a dominant team therefore there will be quite a few swing games.  Anyway here's my prediction.  Sorry sys.

1. Baylor (13 - 3) Defeated Texas based on South Division record.
2. Texas (13 - 3) Lost to Baylor based on South Division record.
3. Kansas (12 - 4) Defeated Missouri based on North Division record.
4. Missouri (12 - 4) Lost to Kansas based on North Division record.
5. Kansas State (11 - 5)
6. Texas A&M (10 - 6)
7. Oklahoma State (8 - 8)
8. Colorado (5 - 11)
9. Iowa State (4 - 12) Defeated Texas Tech based on head-to-head record.
10. Texas Tech (4 - 12) Lost to Iowa State based on head-to-head record.
11. Oklahoma (3 - 13)
12. Nebraska (1 - 15)

Nebraska is on the wrong side of the home/road rotation for the south teams.  They host Texas, A&M, and OSU (winnable for NU I guess) they travel to OU, Tech, and Baylor.
