Would Baylor try to stake a claim to titletown if they win? We all know it wouldn't count, but still, would they?

Ugh I'm already over new money, they are insufferable, guys.

Can't wait for the Mayor to take it to the pros and they promote Doc

Damnit, you guys. I wasn't on here at all today until now and this is what I find? I was so excited to see this was to page 505 yet it was just a bunch of stupid (no offense to most of you) ideas for naming something. Just enjoy it and all the The Bill. Chill out.

the bill of doom?  :dunno:

Wow look at that BOD  :fatty:

Looks like the type of uniform some minor league baseball or hockey team might wear for a game then auction off for charity

Tyson Jackson to Falcons. Chiefs are a sinking ship

Why?  Wait for them to counter their losses before calling them a sinking ship.

with what? All the good free agents have been snatched up

McCluster and Jackson where both overpaid, and McCluster really wasn't needed anyway. Losing both Schwartz and Asamoah hurts though.

2933
Asamoah signed with Atlanta too

Sounds like Schwartz to Giants, add RG to the need list.

It seems like we've had this conversation before, just switch out Shalee, Annan, and Adams for Underwood, Gottlieb, and Marshall

Annan is a cool dude but don't compare him with Gottlieb.

I actually kind of merge Shalee/Annon and Underwood/Gottlieb rather than a direct switch but the point remains the same.

This was a weird year for POY. The league as a whole was very good with a lot of really good players, but nobody really stood out as head and shoulders above the rest. Wiggins was hurt by his hype. I think he probably would have won it if the expectations hadn't been so high. When he struggled with some inconsistency early on he lost some potential votes right there. I think Embiid coming on the way he did during B12 play also took away from Wiggins because it made some look at it as a sort of 2 headed monster leading KU.

I think the voting still might have swung in Wiggins favor if the timing of each's "big game" where reversed. Ejim's came mid-conference which meant it had a lot of time to sit in voters minds and improve his stock in their eyes. With Wiggins' coming so late most of the voters had probably already made up their minds and barely noticed it in relation to the POY.

As someone considering going back to school to be an athletic trainer those are the type of moments that scare the crap out of me.

they would have gotten a 1 seed even if they lost yesterday

Don't agree.

Any rationale, or are we back to their schedule sucks? They are a part of a group of three that are clear #1s, even before yesterday. The fact that there's still 4 teams fighting for that last 1 seed is evidence enough. Also St. Joseph's.

I think they'd have still got a 1 but there would have been doubt. If, say, all of the teams fighting for that last 1 seed would win their conference tourney combined with aWSU loss might have pushed them to a 2

What would people who follow the program closely say Deb's biggest problem was? X's and O's, recruiting, getting effort out of players?

I personally kind of always thought she recruited too many Kansas girls and that she hit the lottery with oldhe, wecker, and kanhe and then kind of stuck with that local recruiting strategy, but that's just from looking at the roster and not knowing the girls they are actually pursuing. Thoughts?

Just personal opinion here, and as someone who hasn't really paid close attention since I was in school take this for what it's worth, but that's almost the opposite of the truth. I think one of the biggest problems has been not getting enough of the good Kansas players. There's been more than enough quality womens bball players come out of this state to create at least a solid backbone for a team. Obviously some will leave but it seems like for every Shalee she got there was at least 1 Tiffany Bias who got away.

Who the hell is Ryan Callahan?

hockey player
I hope he doesn't suck, TTHoTUC

He's not the scorer that St. Louis is, but he does everything well, he's a great compliment to Stamkos. NYR absolutely won the trade but Callahan is no bum, I'd love him in Phoenix and I hope he signs there this summer. If I were a Lightning fan I'd be furious with Yzerman.

Yea if he doesn't re-sign with TB it's a pretty big win for NYR. Even with St. Louis being 38 he's still a really good player and with a healthy Stamkos is really scary. The 1st rounder in '15 helps but TB had a chance to be a dark horse to come out of the East. Now they're still talented and got younger but I can't see them getting by Pitt or Boston. Personally I think NYR moved up to that 3rd best team spot in the East with their moves and I wouldn't be completely surprised to see them come out of the East now.

All in all thought it was a weird deadline. Some head scratchers (Berra for a 2nd, wtf Colorado?) and some bargains (not a big Vanek fan personally but Montreal got him for great value).

Looking at it now I think the Blues ended up overpaying slightly for Miller, but if he resigns without breaking the bank I think it becomes worth it. If they manage to win the Cup it's also well worth it. If they win the Cup AND he resigns it goes down as a great trade.

It reminds me so much of the suites at Wichita Greyhound Park.  It closed in 2007 when the option of adding slot machines was voted down, but I just read that the owner would consider reopening it if the Kansas legislator passes a bill this year to allow slot machines.  If that passes, then perhaps KU would consider adding slot machines in Memorial as a way to boost attendance numbers.   :dunno:

Slot machines won't do the trick. Have to have money to play the slots.

Disagree.  Volume of white trash at casinos is very high.  If Lawrence has anything, it has plenty of white trash.

Don't forget the Eudora, Baldwin, and Tonganoxie residents. They'd love that crap.

stillwater is basically half of aggieville. there's a few decent spots, but lines develop very quickly. and yes, much more cowboy-ish.

My impression of Stillwater is it's basically what everyone who's never actually been to Manhattan thinks Manhattan is like

interesting trade, I love Ryan Miller but it's this the answer for the Blues, I don't think they were having goalkeeping issues

theyre one of the top 5 teams in the league and now they have one of the best goalies in the league. theyre almost a lock for the western semis, imo.

So they're almost a lock to win one series? Isn't this just another way of saying St. L is good but this trade doesn't address the greatest need? They don't have enough goal scoring, they need one more move.

I really like St. L's players but I hate Ken Hitchcock's face hard, uncross your arms, loser.

 Love Hitch as our coach, but yea, totally get this

I just bet my Colorado friend $100 on the Avalanche NOT winning a Stanley Cup in the next 5 seasons. You guys think they will?

It's possible, there's a lot of very good young talent there. But I really don't see the west getting any easier in a 5 year window.

I'm with Havs on this.  I'm not sure how it's that much better than what we have.  CAn we have the same number of spectators?  No, but it's not like anyone really cares.

It's like spending a ton of money on a fire pit when you have issues with the foundation of your house that seriously need to be addressed.

i like my anology of the guy at the gym that is super roided out but only does bench press and upper body stuff while he still has teeny tiny bird legs better.

I like this one. Could go on and say KSU was some guy who was the opposite, really buff legs but poor upper body (maybe injury, runner who never lifted, really don't know how it happened but that's not the point). Then they get some super stud trainer (Currie) who starts to turn their upper body into buff studsville and now starting to look a little like Ahnold

So, did we just look at what KU did and decide to do ours bigger and a lot better?

Yeah, I mean they finally caught up to us after nearly being 2 decades behind.  But we were just waiting to see what they did and then going to do something that's like a bajjilliion gazzillion times better.   Plus, you can't jump on it to quick because we just spent another truckload of money making some improvements on Vanier 5 years ago, and you don't want to upset faculty and stuff ya know.

I mean yeah, I see why we're going to probably do something totally awesome, but still, that's a lot of relatively new and expensive stuff being torn out, but hey, that's just how we roll.

Maybe we can TSC our faces off and donate some hand-me-downs to little bro

Even as a Blues fan I wouldn't say anywhere close to a lock. The west is stacked this year. SJ, Chicago, and Anaheim are all really good as well. Add in LA and Colorado who have some holes but could still get hot and take out any of the top teams (especially LA with Quick) and it's going to be a brutal but extremely fun Western Conference playoff. Hell, even Minnesota and whoever manages to get that eight seed aren't pushovers.

Halak and Elliot where way to damn streaky. Lights out one game, horrible sieve the next. Miller is an improvement over both and much more consistent. I'd still like to see a top 6 forward added, but doubt it happens. IMO, this was the best possible trade to be made at this point that could improve the team. As long as their not hit hard by injuries down the stretch the Defense is now really good and the offense is solid and deep enough that I feel reasonably good about their chances in a series with about any team in the league.
