it sounds like you guys are tired of the constant slobbering over him and the "farewell tour" thing. that's not his fault. in fact, did you see his interview when he was in KC? he interrupted (and apologized  politely of course) a reporter for asking about the farewell tour, and said he hates that term and that's not what this season is for him. give me a minute i'll find it

Yea, don't hate him at all, probably one of my favorite Yankees of my lifetime (the list is very small btw). I hate ESPNs need to constantly over inflate everything that has to do with New York.

wait, wait, wait. so him being a career woman-respecter and the fact that he was drafted by and played his entire career for the yankees is reason to hate the guy? oh ok. he's going to be #6 on the all time hit list and he's going to have a career batting average of over .310, over the course of like 18 years. i respect his consistency. also he is pretty outspoken about not driving after a single drop of alcohol, also pretty outspoken about his respect for just about every opposing teams' fanbases. idk, weird guy to hate.

I respect him as a player, but his legacy is overblown, and the gifts and standing Os by opposing teams are annoying. He's been a very, very good, very, very healthy and consistent player. He's good, and its ok to celebrate what he's done in baseball.  But yes, the way he treats women is very RockState2000-y. He just has more cash, but it makes me dislike him personally. I'm old fashioned mocat I can't help it.

Not drinking and driving is classy tho.

Also:
Yankees suck. Screw them.

I don't really have any problem with Jeter and enjoyed watching him play, I just think these "farewell tours" are ridiculous. If there's some significance (rivalries, player used to play there, etc) sure, give the player a ceremony and gifts. But, for example, the Houston/Mariano Rivera thing last year felt forced and awkward.

At this point, there's not much point of having an offense at all. Just hand the ball to jamaal and letting everyone crush himm on every play. There's no play makers for our pro bowl QB.

So you want to get rid of a young, perennial Pro Bowl pass rusher for a WR with a huge cap hit and on the downward side of his career?

Makes sense

I really hope you meant Hali, because cutting Houston for a declining Andre Johnson is idiotic

Lets dig in to trade talks, but one last thing from yesterday. Anyone else really pleased with how Ned lined up the pitchers? I mean, if Alcides gets the pop up, its 1 run for Chen. Then he goes and brings in Yordano followed by Davis/Holland and we all party. I dump on Ned a lot but I liked the way he used Yordano in that game. It was a HUGE game and Ned did the right thing.

Yes

The WC doesn't need touched.

Would GECWSA give a WC to Qatar? I don't think so. GECWSA is more about the hookers and blow type of scandal

2360
Man we fixed the CWC in like 20 min. Good work everyone!

Let's start up the GECWSA (goEMAW.com World Soccer Association) and do this crap ourselves. Next thing you know FIFA will be selling us the WC too

So you're getting at least one MLS team in. Some non Brazil club team in, J-League and A-League, then random UEFA clubs.

Basically, the MLS really needs to get to the level where it's teams would have a fighting chance before it would really catch on over here though

I think this would help, and I think MLS will get there one day but I don't think MLS needs to be on that level to be huge here. Cruz Azul vs Chelsea, Boca Juniors vs Real Madrid, Corinthians vs PSG...there are a lot of matchups that could be big in America and world wide.

That's true amongst the established soccer crowd, but even just a couple years ago I had no idea who those non-UEFA teams where and probably wouldn't have watched, but if it was a MLS team I would have. Now I'd love to see those games, but a lot of the US is still the former.

2362
Get the tournament out of Japan. TV viewership is almost impossible with games over there. I mean I watched Chelsea's 2 CWC games at 3:30a and 4:30a respectively when we were in it but most crazy fans wouldn't even do that.

That's definitely another thing, get that sucker in Europe a few times and the US a time or 2 and figure out a way to increase the prestige and it would do wonders

no one cares about separate clubs, they care about country on country.  get rid of this nonsense

Eh, people care about their clubs a lot, the problem IMO is that the areas that care the most (Europe & SA) only get 1 club each. If every 4 years you basically mixed the Champions League and Copa Libertadores together with a smattering of other other clubs it at least raises the interest level.

2365
Come to the European club thread or the SKC/MLS thread I would love to have a fun conversation and discuss how to make the club World Cup better (for reals)

What would be best, IMO, is if MLS gets to the level where it has a chance for at least the occasional upset of high end Euro teams then have the Club WC expand and be played every 4 years opposite the WC

They have a Club World Cup.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's played every year.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nobody cares about it.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

But your idea would make it awesome

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hence why I said have it expand and be played every 4 years, not create it. Expand, enhance, and market the crap out of it.

Nobody cares about it right now because it sucks right now.

Because then it will run up against the Olympics some years.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So what? Sounds like a fun summer. Just have the WC in June and Olympics in August in that random year. Would be awesome.

Or soccer needs some big event in the 2nd year between WCs. Then move the WC up a year so we have a 4 year run of WC, Summer Olympics, other big soccer event, Winter Olympics

Dear lord, point for Everton. Guys, unless I get some pretty compelling evidence otherwise, this Everton vs Spurs will be a runaway before I even can watch either play.

I worry he'll die and burn all his notes on his death bed leaving us with nothing more than fan fiction for an ending, but I worry more that his grumpy old ass will eff up the ending if he gets there just to piss everyone off

I get the feeling that if he does finish it, it's going to go out super loose butthole.

Yea, I'm already prepared for Matrix Revolutions bad and hoping for slightly better.

Liverpool

Oh man, just looked and saw Suarez players for Liverpool. Point for Everton lol

To be fair, he's going to Barcelona now.
