While I think maybe "the cerners" or the "sporting group" (lots of crossover between the two) may run it "better" nobody knows for sure but while Glass continues to invest in the payroll and allows Dayton to sign who he wants nobody should waste their time with those argument.

I'm not saying they wouldn't. I'm just saying it's hilarious how small minded and intellectually lazy those people are.

"hell, Cerner has a lot of money. They'll buy it."

While the Royals where struggled so bad it was fun to think about. Looking at the way they handled SKC (which, ironically, is looking very similar to what Glass is doing) and thinking maybe it could provide the jolt the organization needed.
some of you are too young to remember just how badly the board screwed up the organization after Mr. K died with David Glass as Chairman and it wasn't a great look when Glass ended up buying the team.  Then you add the frustrations of watch young talent leave, hiring managers on the cheap and the owner's suite filled with red when the Cardinals are in town on top of the losing and you have a recipe for a lot of bitter fans.

For me mlb has always been a very distant 5th behind cfb, cbb, nfl and nba but all the above just makes me really respect the IRL folks and the longtime posters in itt that have stuck it out.

I remember all that well and I was on the anyone but Glass train up until last year. However, at this moment he is doing everything he should for this team.

Doesn't really go here, but ESPN just did a piece on the '95 UNC @ Duke game. Man that brought up some memories.

Going to my first NHL game tonight... Red Wings @ Blackhawks

Good one for a first game, IMO. I hate Blackhawk fans, but there's no denying that's an electric atmosphere and any time 2 original 6 teams get together it can be a fun time.

Alex is not the savior, but he's not the reason for failure either. I've said it so many times in this thread I feel like I'm stuck on repeat, but there's only 1 QB in the league that the current regime had a shot at that I would be fine with starting over Alex and that's Teddy. And even with him there's been little proof that he would actually be an improvement, just glimpses and potential.

The Chiefs desperately needed to overhaul their WR corp and it appears they are doing so. None of they guys that had where matches will Alex's QBing style. They need guys who can make plays in space and big bodies who can consistently move the chains. Bowe could and should have been this type of player, but his effort and skill level have deteriorated so badly since he received his big contract that he's been a shell of his former self.

TLBL would work in the sense that he could be great at turning short routes into big gains, but I hope he can be more than that and he wouldn't on the Chiefs. I also think he'd probably end up being destroyed by safeties if he had to play that role constantly.

IMO, there's a big difference between the headache of an overbearing parent/"advisor" to players with the potential to be one of the schools all time greats (see Butler and the Browns for another example) than those of a Will Spradling.

This is the way I feel. I don't know if I'd say Glass has been great for the last 5 years, but I do know if the Royals aren't successful this season it will have nothing to do with Glass, he has given the team all that it needs to be successful. Player development and evaluations or injuries are what can be found at fault.

Now if some of our young players are allowed to walk when they reach FA without a competitive offer or are traded away before they can because they won't be offered a new contract while the team payroll simultaneously remains at or below its current level, then you can question ownership.

Columbus and Dallas actually should be very good. Plus Columbus gets a bonus because they play in the East and making it to the final is easier. Both of those teams have tons of great young talent that will be another year older.

They should be good, but to put them as equal or better than SKC is still flawed.

warm up the farms

I mean, I know we're not the favorites but to be equal with Dallas and below Columbus :sdeek:

I'd say their speed is pretty elite too, too.  :dunno:

not really at a lot of positions. we have like a couple really fast guys and then a bunch of mediums and then new billy butler guy.

The thing is relative to position. Hosmer has high level speed for a 1b, Gordon for a LF, etc. Sure Billy Morales is slow, but how many DHs are out stealing bases on the reg

1564
Looked  him up, seems pretty meh, but whatever, youngish, Haitian, midfield depth

If we hang around in the central, they won't trade away a piece of the pen IMO.

If their have anywhere close to the quality of season they did last year no way does Davis or Holland get moved if the teams in contention. Possibly Herrera or Hoch if Hoch round into '13 form again, but probably only for  a significant overpay (like elite closer return).

I hope they at least try Finnegan as a starter. We already have a good idea of what he can do in relief so I think he needs to at least get a look as a starter in the upper minors or MLB, if he struggles though I wont be upset about pulling the plug quickly and turning him back into a reliever.

also lol at the can of chew in that pic, didnt a guy get thrown out of a regional for that last year?

Yea, I believe chew is supposed to be banned, but I'm pretty sure it's one of those the ump has to see it things and some umps look for it less diligently than others.

does anyone have del miller's twitter handle?

i'd like to gauge his reaction to @DS4ms coming back

Twittering's not his job

Now I am thinking that Del had some kind of kinship with Jake. Look at that finger hair!  :horrorsurprise:

God, I hadn't seen a pic of Del Miller in a long time. This guy does not look like a football coach.

Good spot for him, their defense is likely going to be pretty meh, but the size of the park might allow him to maintain his effectiveness for longer, assuming all the innings he's pitched don't cause his arm to fall off.

1570
I don't really care but it's interesting how dominant they are. Missouri Comets are 18-0.

That league is basically just a glorified rec league. The Wichita and Missouri head coaches (Wichita's is 50 something) literally suited up and played the entire first half of their game tonight.

1571
Guys, this is happening, don't bother fighting it

KU's entire team comes down with food poisoning on game day, Tre nails a half court buzzer beater ftw, oscar gets 10 year extension.

Not sure why someone would hate those. They are hot in a way that only the bitb can be.

Draw w/ Sunderland, dreams of a top 5 finish are slipping pretty fast

Young joda was sitting in a direct line about 8-10 rows up when he destroyed the BYU guy, still a highlight of my early 'Cats memories.
