4 nights in Miami Beach in late April. Do I need to go into the city for anything?

Eat at Mr. Chow, in the W South Beach.  No regrets.

I am fascinated by the mindsight that says that if you work in the Federal sector or if you have a contract to support the Federal sector, that you'll have a job forever and ever, and that contracts will never be cancelled and will go on into perpetuity.

Meanwhile, we've got a Federal Government that's $37 trillion dollars in debt, will spend $2 Trillion just on interest alone this FFY, and just went through the first quarter of FFY'25 (which started before Trump) borrowing an all time record level of money for a single quarter.

Meanwhile in the private sector contracts get cancelled, projects cancelled, budgets reduced, priorities changed, people laid off etc. etc. All day - every day

Yeah, I was laid off from my 9 year private sector job a year and a half ago.  The difference here is there is no rationale for the cuts.  I was performing a critical function that will now not be covered, at least until they realize it was a mistake and bring me back.

I just got doge'd.  Fed contract terminated as of Mar 31st in the middle of it.  Highest performing member of my team and just had the highest performance rating possible.  Agency and contracting company are at a loss for why, as I am deemed critical.  Eff all these guys!

I'm sorry friend. This is all so unnecessary and stupid. On the bright side, at least those four trans kids can't play JV volleyball in Idaho anymore though right???

yeah, exactly.  priorities!

Lower back pain. What the hell? I've consistently worked out forever and continue to do so, but my lower back is basically sore all the freaking time now even when i'm not working out. I know I need to stretch more (or any at all), but what can I do to make this stop? Should I be yogaing?

A non-invasive Chiropractor has really helped me.  Try to find one that uses the Torque Release Technique.  There were times where I couldn't stand up out of bed in the morning, but that hasn't happened once since I have been going (several years)

Explain the appeal of the pitt

A few things appeal to me:

1. Interesting/informative look into what goes on in an ER. Obviously it's dramatized, but it's just as focused on handling actual emergency situations as opposed to a drama that takes place in a hospital.
2. Love the pace of everything happening in real time and jumping between cases of various severities.
3. The format gives lots of opportunities to reflect on big themes like the fragility of life, ethical responsibilities, etc. without feeling forced.

Agreed - A regular medical drama might have a sad death episode and then a happy save a life episode on separate weeks.  This weaves those stories throughout the season but any episode could hit on multiple themes.  That feels more real to me than other medical shows.  The individual patients affecting how individuals act the rest of the day is interesting as well and can be more clearly illustrated in this format.  As catastrophe mentioned, it also keeps some of the interpersonal crap minimized as opposed to a show like Grey's that focuses on it.

It's still very much a medical drama and isn't pioneering totally new territory, but it's presenting it in a way that focuses on the aspects I like the most.

The swimming pool story line got me real good, ugh!

If you believe what some Federal workers are claiming at an anecdotal level, then regardless of what goes on in Congress. Federal jobs need to be cut. Because the WFH'ers are running their side gigs and not doing their Federal jobs.

Being very familiar with one agency, the USDA, I do agree that the methods used there, were not good. They have a systemic performance review process, at least on the research side.

God damnit Chum. You and the 7 other people with side jobs are responsible for the deficit.  :)
Tell me where I said the WFH were responsible for the deficit?

Your shtick of perpetual Trump rage has made you an even bigger derp.

From first hand experience, the WFH'ers with side gigs are not the ones getting cut.

How much damage does a 300ft asteroid cause, let's say, if it lands in the ocean.

It’s still a useful anecdote to illustrate the challenges of the federal government and the opportunities, but was super misleading the way that he portrayed it while standing in the oval office.

yes, also this link shows 138,000 retirements were processed in 2014 which makes his claim of 10000 per month because of an elevator seem dubious. https://www.opm.gov/retirement-center/retirement-statistics/

even then, why would you need the capacity to process 10000 retirements in a month when you have only had the annual equivalent of 10000 per month once in the last 25 years?

And in theory, shouldn't there be less fed employees hitting retirement after their "cleanout" anyway?

Friend works at the airport and the issue was that he kept it in a jar with a metal lid that got caught on the metal detector. Still, wtf, pretend you don't know what's in it and have him throw it away if you're TSA.

No doubt he flew into Manhattan with that same jar (including more weed) without issue.

14
Yeah, every single person who saw him in person, or on tv this weekend, knew he was high and had weed.

Nothing like the price on a flight in the Chase portal being 2.5x times the price on the airline website.

To get the value of Chase UR you basically just have to transfer them to a partner, right?

I don’t really need to transfer them to Hyatt as I already get the Marriott family discount.

I booked one on Chase Travel the other day that was exactly the same price (SWA), but that is the first time I have found them to be the same.

I'm guessing Texas beats OSU and Notre Dame beats Penn State, then Texas beats Notre Dame.

OSU and former cat William Howard winning the whole thing.

Fans are expecting to win, as they were told.

I don't really post in this thread, not a chiefs fan, so this may have been discussed but I just read that CEH was released because of problems related to PTSD. His PTSD comes from him killing a dude that tried to rob him and a teammate. CEH said that his PTSD has led to hospitalizations. Sad crap.

The chiefs really did right by him in the sense that they kept him on the roster until they needed the space.  They could have cut him, and 10 years ago he probably would have been.

Rumor is they kept him just long enough to become vested with permanent health insurance.

If the stupid Lions knew how to manage a 4th Q we might not be in this spot. They onside kicked with 10 min left and then misused their timeouts by letting it go to the 2 min warning smh.

That onside kick call was egregious, but Lions still werent winning that game.  They couldnt stop the Bills at all.

The nice thing about YTTV is that you can divvy out subs with a few pals and share. I use a subscription from a pal who hooked me up.

This only works if you live in the same area, FYI.

Actually, you only have to login to the home area once every 3 months to use it wherever you want.  And Chrome has nice built in location spoofing tool to do that from anywhere.

Are you casting it to your TV?

When casually watching I just use the app for whatever device I am on.  You only have to do one login from the home area to get it back to the 3 month "travel" usage, so I use Chrome for that login.  I suppose using a vpn for that would work as well.   For reference, our family account home area is in Austin, I live in Portland, and set my account's area to Portland.  I have to login "from Austin" every 3 months, and it all just works.

What's the Chrome plugin? Zenmate?

I just add the home area coordinates in Sensors under Tools (https://williamkoehrsen.medium.com/controlling-your-location-in-google-chrome-6c0b216d1ba1).  The only pain is you have to completely logout of all Chrome browsers, clear all cache, turn off location, etc.

You can also just send your account\password to whoever actually lives in the home area and have them login there for you.  I just personally don't like that option.

YTTV just announced another $10 price hike. Up to $82 a month. I started at $35  :Yuck:
I'm not happy about this. I only have it for live sports from the start of KSU football in the fall until the end of March Madness. Still have to get ESPN+ to access a lot of games I want to watch.
I think Disney+ is the only other sub I have right now.
May have to take another look at what the cost for for Hulu plus live TV's bundle with Disney+ and ESPN+ would be

Echo this. Rather upset ngl. I get prices were always going to go up but to be paying 2.5x when I started and it's mostly just for sports is insane.

I still think i'm more pissed about them adding the comedy central channels and jacking up the price while telling us how great it was that they added channels I didn't ask for. I guess I'm just yelling at clouds since I never do anything about it, but at some point I should probably look for alternatives since we just don't watch much tv in our house.
find a buddy/family member or two to share it with. I'm in the same boat, rarely (never) watch live TV but I need my sports fixin's. I share YTTV with two other friends and just give him cash once a year for my share. I'm sure sometime in the future they will make this impossible to do like netflix has but they haven't done it yet.

This is the way.  Also to get around the 3 simultaneous streams, you can use your individual youtube tv profile to login to apps (ESPN, MAX, etc)
