Trying to work on things w/ my ex-fiance who lives in Lawrence and with whom I own a home there, it sucks  :frown:

Like get back together or split amicably?

No idea what your situation was but when I wanted to get back with an old fling I straight up told her I was young and immature and made a mistake. Seems like its a pretty boilerplate approach to take.

What is everyone's view on getting back with old flames?

Dated a girl for about a year and broke up with her September of 11. She took it rough, defriended me on FB and everything.

Feel like i maybe made a mistake as she's a real nice girl and I just kind of panic'd at the 1 year mark and broke it off quickly. I started texting her again a couple months ago, after getting throught the hate texts she met me for drinks last week and we are planning to hang out again soon.

Update-

Things have been going great! In fact she just re-accepted my FB friend request after 5 months of it sitting in her inbox! (She says she never gets on FB)

What's your "go to" bass lure ben ji?  I like a black & blue jig-n-pig or a Texas rigged tube if it's weedy.

My "Go to" lure is a 4 inch grub on a 1/8oz jig head. Will sometime's mix it up with a jig n pig or a roadrunner, they are all very similiar.

My backup lure is a plastic worm set up with my own variation of the Texas jig that leaves the hook exposed.

Not a big fan of spinners or crank baits, never seem to catch anything on them.

Caught about 5 fish in the first hr yesterday but nothing after that.

Biggest one was only about 2-3 lbs.

Will prob come back Saturday morning instead of going down to the river.

ATTENTION KC AREA gEMAW'S.

ben ji(and lady) will be giving a guided fishing tour of one of his favorite hidden fishing spots in shawnee tonight.

This is a small pond that in the past has been loaded with bass, I have not been to it since last spring so no guarantee's about catching eleventy billion fish.

I'm never going to own a lawn mower or yard equipment of any kind

Any kind? Really?

correct. I do own a hose but it is not for yard use. strictly for hosing out garage at the end of winter use. and that's just because I don't have a convenient person to hire to do that for me.

SD-

If you move next door to me in PV we would be BFF. My neighbors were gone for a couple weeks when their mother passed away so I mowed their lawn and edged their driveway/sidewalk FOR FREE.

Hey wackycat, you still live in shawnee?

Thinking about hitting up a super secret fishing spot in shawnee tonight after work.

This was my favorite spot to fish in high school, used to pull out 10-15 bass each on a day. The thing is it gets really overgrown with aquatic weeds during the summer so you have to fish it before it gets mucked up.

Was pak'n with the GF and some of her work friends late friday night at quintens(Waldo not Lawrence).

A new co-worker joins the group and my GF mentioned he was gay and then went to introduce me. This is how it went down

GF- "Hey, I want you to meet my bf ben ji, this is Kunt"
Me- "Nice to meet you, you said your name is Kunt? Like with a K or a C?"
Kunt- "With a K, its not my real name but thats what I go by"
Me- "Seriously?"
Kunt- "Yeah(giggles between him and the girls)"
Me- "You guys are messing with me, a gay guy named kunt, good one"

Nope, that was actually his name. Spent the next 5 mintues in awkward conversation about how Kunt was and acronym but he wont tell anyone what the letters stand for.

Update-

Guys name is actually Linus, he thought I was a random creeper hitting on his friends and decided to run some interference. GF just played along because she thought he knew i was her bf.

Feeling a different type of shame now.

a boat
Really?  considering your awesome contributions in the fishing thread this surprises me.

I have 3 friends/family members that have a bass boat and all of them spend more time screwing around with it in their driveway than they do on the water.

While they are "Cleaning out the carberator(sp)" and giving the boat a nice wash I'm out on a farm pond or along the river just straight up SLAYING some fish.

Only way I would consider owning a boat is if I lived in a lake house but a lake house is another thing i will never own.

I am super excited, guys.  For some reason, I want NBAF almost as much as I want a natty.

NBAF is basically a natty for KSU and the city of manhattan

Didn't catch the whole thing, but pretty sure the NPR ppl this morning said that the state has refused to approve an additional $200M in bonds for NBAF and have said that they can't approve the bonds with Brownback withholding information on it.

Brownback  :shakesfist:
Kansas  :shakesfist:

Just asked BSLC about this and she says dont blame brownback "He is pushing for expanding the bonds. The ultra conservative House people are pushing back bc they dont trust the feds to fulfill their pledge bc the fed govt is broke. Sen budget committee is meeting in an hour, I assume to push through the bonding bill"

UPDATE INCLUDING NERDY LOOKING NOTES- Bond issue passed

SB 245:  NBAF
- PROPONENTS
  - Landon Fulmer, Governor's Office
  - written only from KFB, KLA & KC Chamber
  - ACTION:
  - AMD - to mandate government funding be approved prior to any letting of Kansas bonds.
        - Denning:  we already have $105M in authority, this would require a letter from Homeland security with a full cost estimate and legislative approval for that amount?  Yes.
        - Francisco:  should this apply to all $310M?  Why would we let the first $105M if it isn't enough to complete the project?
        - Melcher/Masterson:  perhaps a proviso stating bonds let after May 8, 2013.  Also require cost overruns/change orders to be the responsibility of the Feds
        - Denning:  AMD - to reflect the concerns above - PASS
        - Melcher:  AMD - clarifying intent - PASS
  - FAVORABLE as AMD - PASS

I don't find food mammals or food birds to be disgusting looking.  Also, I'm not sure where you're going with attractive, but I can assure that does not come into play when deciding what I would like to eat.  Fish are repulsive to me.  Like snakes or bugs or toads.

Pigs and cows are dirty animals, but they don't look disgusting to me dirt aside.

As someone who has been a recreational fisherman for 8 years, I find this understandable. You can pet a cow/pig whatever and it feels familiar and not repulsive. Then you pick up a fish and get the slime and goo all over you and some people freak the F out, mainly girls who insist that you take the fish off the hook for them.

TICKS! GROSS!

I found a tick on my dog a couple weeks ago after we went fishing and then that night I had a terrible nightmare that there were 20 ticks crawling on me.
