Fyi NEVER EAT DRUM.

Last summer I was cruising a fishing board and some redneck was talking about how good freshwater drum is.

I went fishing the next day and caught a couple good sized drum and decided to cook them up.

Woof, tasted like shoe leather with lil bones in it.

ben ji - you need to go fishing with Tre.

Would be amazing. It looks like he caught that drum in a farm pond which would be even more amazing since they typically only live in rivers.

and lakes

Yeah, never caught any on lakes but just looked it up and your right. Seems like they would need a bigger area than farm ponds though.

Pulled out of my driveway, drove about 2 blocks and got a $10 ticket for not wearing a seatbelt last week.

THANKS OBAMA

Guyz,is there anything cuter than a lil baby bass?

Maybe a baby panda? Racoon?

Dunno, but if so its a short list.

I'm a sucker for applebee's fajitas and fiesta lime chicken.

If any of you fishers wants to load up on some tackle/gear, let me know...I fished Bass Tournaments for years, sold my boat a couple seasons ago & haven't gone out much since.

Got shelves & shelves full of plastics (about a zillion Brush Hogs, good assortment of 7-10" worms, lots of Stanley Ribbits, and some 'rare' stuff like Maverick Bugly's), high end crankbaits (Lucky Craft, Mega Bass, etc), spinnerbaits, jigs (FB & Finesse), etc...may even part with some of my rods reels...I'll prolly hang on to my Revo's & Carrot Sticks, but most of the rest would be up for grabs I reckon.

Plastics & non premium lures I'll make you a deal on...Rods Reels, I'd sell cheaper than eBay to GE'ers if interested, just PM me (I live in NKC btw)

  KC area?

Mainly interested in the different jigs and spinner baits, possibly some of the plastics.

What kind of poles/reels? Never been a fan of bait casters but if you have some spinning reels I might be interested since my 2 good ones vanished a couple months ago(See major scam thread).

What kind of price range are we talking for a reel/pole combo? Not interested in dropping a couple hundred on the fancy shmancy shimano stuff but if its good quality I am willing to pay UP TO $50 for a reel/pole combo.

Sorry, I don't have any spinning stuff (except a couple of shitty ones I keep for crappie fishing), everything in my bass arsenal was baitcaster...I was like you for a long time...take the time & learn the baitcaster...you will look back on spinning gear with amazement & disgust at how long you fished that way once you make the switch.

Best tip I ever got...only put about 25-50yds of line on the baitcaster to start...that way, when you backlash it, you aren't picking out a total birds nest.

So do you live in the KC area?

Or did you just want to brag about all the cool fishing stuff you have and make me jealous?  :curse:

Update #2  :emawkid:

BBall

Then-

Frank was in his first season sans Beasley/Walker and on his way to a second round exit of the NIT. Most people agreed that the previous season was just a flash in the pan and KSU would struggle to maintain any success in BBall. Our 2 new Bball recruits were Butch Awaji and Abdul Herrera(We did have gruds and judge coming in next year but there was always the threat that Dalonte420 could leave and take them with him at any time)

Now-

25-6, First Big12 Title 36 years. 4 straight NCAA tourney appearances including wins each year(The 3 we have played in) and an E8 in 2010. Winningest(sp?) senior class in school history. First year coach oscar Weber wins Big12 COY honors, Second KSU coach in the past 4 years to win the award. Future is bright with Angel/Shane/Gip coming back.

FBall-

Then

Ron Prince had just been fired after going 5-7 and losing to KU for the 3rd straight year. After "Rumors" of hiring Gary Patterson KSU Decides to bring back old balls who had gone 9-13 in the 2 years before he retired. His stated purpose was to "Calm the waters". Bob Krause, Stud Fan/Bad AD, was running our Athletic department and news was leaking out regarding the "Napkin Extension" he had given Prince.

Now-
Back to back 10+ win seasons and COY honors for Old Balls including a Big12 Title. Katz were in the hunt for a national title until the second weekend of November, ditto for CK7 and the Heisman. DSams primed and ready to take over next year.

KSU takes their rightful place with OU and TX as one of the "3 Kings" of the big12

Baseball

Then

14-10-1, 4th in big 12, happy to make big12 tourney

Now

Not good, was messing around with my ultra light setup and forgot to put the drag back to normal. Lost a big bass over my lunch break when my line snapped :(

Then it mocked me by jumping out of the water about 10 ft from shore trying to get the lure out :(

Hope you are doing better AJ!

In fairness, most ku fans I know are melting down even more than Beems over KSU's triple crown.  They know they'll never get close to it.

Hell, KU went to a Final Four, College World Series, and bowl game back in the early 90's, and is currently one of three teams to belong to the BCS Bowl/national championship combo club (the other two are Florida and Louisville).  We look down on lil bro from the top of our mountain, although it is fun watching big bro grow up a little bit and act all tough.

Went to a bowl!?   :horrorsurprise:

Yeah, there was no BCS in the early '90's.  Bowls were a lot more exclusive back then than they are now.  It figures that you'd focus on the bowl and exclude the Final Four and CWS, though.  So, so butthurt.

So like a fiesta bowl win in the 90's is a bigger deal than an orange bowl win a couple of years ago?

8348
Ben ji, how do you catch fish over your lunch break and then not smell awful when you go back to work for the afternoon?

You wash your hands

Hey ben ji...I'm going fishing this weekend and am looking to catch some catfish for a nice fish fry.  I usually use Bee'-Jays catfish bait, but am having troubles finding it this time of year.  It's been my mainstay for years.  Any other good stink bait you'd recommend?  I'm fishing in a small lake (dept is 8 to 10 feet).

I dont normally use stink baits so I dont know which ones are good.

I recommend bringing an ultra light pole and using a crappie jig or using worms to catch a couple of blue gills when you first get there. Then cut them up into small chunks(a little bigger than a quarter) to use as bait, the guts work best.

Thank you sir!  Not a bad idea.  I'll try that out!  A buddy of mine swears by chicken livers as bait so I will try those as well.  I'll let you know how it goes!

Chicken livers are my go to bait if I dont have enough time/feel like catching any blue gill. Best of luck and remember to come back to this thread and let us know how you did.
