Essentially Flyertalk / Brownbackistan Breakout - A gEMAW Story
« on: March 02, 2019, 02:42:25 AM »
Brownbackistan Breakout

The year is 2015.

The United States of America suffers a major socioeconomic collapse and power vacuum sweeps the country. A radicalized Christian Government rises to power in the Great Plains and renames the Central United States Brownbackistan. News spreads about a newly created state to the west called "Bears"  that is super awesome causing Premier Brownback to quickly seal the borders of Brownbackistan.

In the thick of these Political Maneuvers, Steve Dave, a prominent BBS'r living in Omaha makes a break west for the newly created state of "Bears". With the major Interstates turned into Mad Max Zones and armed only with his trusty 16 gauge shotgun(No Ammo) Steve Dave will need to travel a perilous 350 miles undetected to reach safety.

Kansas State Football / Anyone Have any Questions for Klieman?
« on: February 20, 2019, 03:21:25 PM »
I will be listening to coach Klieman speak at Stage Coach Tavern tonight in Overland Park.

If there is an opportunity to ask questions what should I ask?

Kansas State Football / How will the hiring of Seth LittreLL impact YOU?
« on: December 06, 2018, 10:45:14 AM »
My GF asked who the new coach at K-State was going to be so I showed her a picture of LittreLL. She said "Wow, that man is older than you but has muscles just bulging out of every single crevice, I like the hire!".

I think I'm going to start lifting weights again.

Kansas State Football / Heading to WV for the game? Read this first!
« on: September 20, 2018, 04:12:44 PM »
Fellow EMAWs,

I had the displeasure of attending our last game at Miller Puskar Stadium in 2016 with my wife and 2 young boys(age 6 and 9 at the time) and wanted to pass along some tips to anyone brave enough to make the trip this time.

Lodging – Can’t help you out here as we drove our Freedom Traveler RV up from our home base in Bird City. Trip was long but the mountains that still had their tops were gorgeous!

Tailgating – We parked at the RV lot by the stadium on Friday night and were advised by multiple WV fans to avoid tailgating outside of the stadium due to the rowdiness of the students/locals. Apparently they have had 2 stabbings the week before and 1 person died in the parking lot before the Marshall game the previous year. With 2 small future EMAW's in tow we decided to take their advice. Some WV fans did recommend we visit the Buffalo Wild Wings down the street instead of tailgating, we had never been before and I would have to say the food was subpar. My youngest Timothy got the cheeseburger and it came out cold. How do you mess up a cheeseburger?

Stadium – Miller Puskar Stadium reminds me a lot of Jack Trice except more concrete, the contractor must of got a heck of a deal on concrete as every possible surface was coated in it. After we found our seats I took the kids to the restroom and was stunned to see that none of the bathroom stalls have doors (Apparently they have had issues with people shooting up smack and overdosing during games). Of course Timmy had to go #2 so I was forced to stand where the door was supposed to be to block the view. The sight lines were alright but the whole stadium just gave me the eeeby jeebys, its like the blueprints were left over from an Warsaw Pact country. Everything was cold/gray/depressing.

I will never be making the trip again but if you are heading that way this weekend make sure to stay safe!

Kansas State Basketball / Dear Sister Jean

Sister Jean! Its great that you could join us on this amazing BBS we call home. First of all I would like to congratulate you on living to be 98 years old in that crime infested shithole that is Chicago. Way to stay on your toes!

Unfortunately for you your last couple of years on earth will be darkened by the black cloud of ANGER that the 2017/18 EMAW (short for Every Man A Wicca) bball squad will rain down upon your scrappy little school boys from Chicago. We will beat you in paint, we will beat you in aggressiveness, we will beat you in turnovers and we will beat you in life! If the wildcat nation is subjugated and starving then our empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by EMAWATTI across the world will defeat you!

When it comes to arguments there is only one sure way to win. Avoid it!!!

KU fan- Hey do you guys still have a football team over at K-State?

KSU Fan- Hey congrats on your lucky fluke of a season last year! If you keep up the good work maybe people will remember you have a football team.

KU Fan- Excuse me, what bowl game did you play in again?

KSU Fan-  Were taking a couple of years off. Our fans are almost out of money after going to 12 bowl games in the past 15 years.

KU Fan- But only 1 in the past 4 years…Your old news man

KSU Fan- Talk to me when you make it to back to back bowl games, let alone 11 in a row.

Surely you’ve heard this conversation, or variations of it, a lot. A KU fan and KSU fan aimlessly going on about which football/basketball team is better. Most of the time the KU fan isn’t going to be convinced that KSU is superior and vice versa.

The Carnegie book helps to bring some insight into how to deal with disagreements.

Welcome the Disagreement- If two people always agreed then one of them wouldn’t be necessary.

Distrust your first Impression-  Our first instinct is to be defensive. Be careful, keep your calm and watch out for your first reaction.

Control Your temper- You can measure the size of a person by what makes him or her angry.

Listen First- Give your opponents a chance to talk, and let them finish. Try to build bridges of understanding, don’t build barriers of misunderstanding.

Look for areas of agreement- When you have heard your opponents out dwell on the points or areas you agree.

Be honest- Look for areas where you can admit error and say so. Apologize for your mistakes. It will help to disarm your opponent.

Promise to think over your opponents ideas and study them carefully- Your opponent may be right. It is a lot easier at this stage to agree to think about their points than to move rapidly ahead and find yourself having your opponents say “we told you so”.

Thank your opponents for their interest- Anyone who takes time to disagree with you is interested in the same thing your are. Think of them as someone who wants to help you. You may turn an opponent into a friend.

Postpone action to give both sides time to think through the problem- Suggest that a new meeting be held later that day or the next day.

Using these methods lets have this conversation again.

KU fan- Do you guys still have a football team over at K-State?

KSU fan- Of course we do. We didn’t have as good of a season as you guys last year but we still have a team.

KU fan- Well you should probably just drop your football program. KU is the only school in Kansas that matters anymore, give it up and go farm or something.

KSU fan- I’m not going to lie, you guys had an impressive season last year. In fact KU kind of reminds me of KSU teams from the early 90’s. Your starting to build a good program. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t enough room in Kansas for two football teams though.

KU fan- We are starting to build a pretty good program. Mangino was clearly the brains behind the turnaround at KSU. Too bad he’s our coach now!

KSU fan- Mangino is a good coach who helped make the KSU program what it is now. But you should always remember that before Snyder hired him he was working at a toll booth. I think we should go grab some beers and forget about what team is better, maybe tomorrow we will realize that having two football teams in Kansas brings a lot of recognition to the state.

Avoiding the argument and complementing the other person helps to disarm them. When they realize they are not mad at you anymore it becomes much easier to find a common ground in where you can agree.

I get it. You don't think we belong here in Naw Leans with you in the CFP semifinals. I've been party rocking my face off all over this town for the last 3 days and all I've heard from you is "If Snyder hadn't pulled an Osborne and announced his retirement before the Big12 Championship Game, presented by Dr Pepper, stanford would be in over you" or " Kansas State? Purple kitties! Aint they like Racoons Ma cooks for dinna? HAHAHAHAHAHA" and "Your program ain't no better than Nebraska, having to pull on the heart string of voters to have a chance at the title"

Well guess what you cousin kissing football loving sissies. We are here and we kicked the crap out of Okie State in the the Big12 Championship game rematch presented by Dr Pepper and now we are matched up with you Atticus Fitch wannabes.

I've been hearing it at every bar and blackjack table I've been to "BAMA RULES, WE GONNA HAVE MORE FANS DER THEN YOU GOOD SMELLING ELITE CITY BOYS". Well no crap Sherlock, every shrimp loving forrest gump immitator from across your obesity ridden state can hop on a John Deere and make the trip to Naw Leans in under 8 hrs.

But guess what?

Kansas State Football / WARNING: Tailgating at UT-Austin game
« on: October 20, 2015, 11:44:46 AM »
Do not eat any meat offered up by an UT tailgaters, especially in the Alumni lots.

Apparently it is a Texas Tradition that when a Bevo Dies they butcher him up and distribute the meat out to tailgaters before the next home game. I didnt believe my buddy when he told me but apparently its a thing.

Anyone know if will be the same rotation as XIII in 2006? That year they started in the foundation lots northeast of the stadium and worked their way south to the baseball stadium

Make sure you season the crap out of the meat, it was pretty tough the last time

I think this is one of the most underrated traditions in college football. We are TEXAS, we rough ridin' eat our mascots.

Whatever, all schools have weird traditions right? Hell us wild wildcats hump the air back and forward all because some building burned down.

The reason for the warning is that Bevo XIV spent its winters grazing on lands by Karnes City TX, right in the middle of the Eagle Ford Shale. That cancer riddled bovine had been ingesting fracking fluids for at least 5 years before it finally keeled over.

Enjoy the game, but watch what you eat.

Essentially Flyertalk / Snakes in a Car
« on: May 22, 2015, 12:59:47 PM »
I'm driving down the street, minding my own business when out of nowhere a 1-2 foot garter snake COMES OUT OF THE FRONT CONSOLE AND ONTO MY LAP. I flip the eff out and almost wreck while he is slithering around on the passenger seat.

By the time I can get pulled over he is chilling up underneath the glove box poking his head out.

I opened all my car doors and start poking around with a stick trying to get him to come out. He went back and forth from the driver side to the passenger side for about 10 minutes before I could finally get him out of the car and on his merry way.

I'm about 99% sure he got in the car earlier today when I picked up some flats of flowers my brother had dropped off at a friends house. When I carried one flat in there was a tiny lil baby garter snake at the bottom. I'm guessing this monster garter snake decided he wanted to stay in my car.

Essentially Flyertalk / Lets talk about pets you had as a kid
« on: March 18, 2015, 12:15:45 AM »
Big Bird(Parakeet)- Wings were clipped as a youngster and never regained full flight ability, I would describe his flight ability as being equal to a chicken. Big Bird was pretty awesome and would sit on your shoulder and chill for hours at a time. He absolutely loved millet.

Snow Flake(Parakeet)- Technically my sisters pet but this gal was awesome. She had full flight ability and we would let her fly around the downstairs and she would land on your shoulder and hang out while you cruised AOL chat rooms or played 007 Golden Eye.

Mr. Toad(Toad)- Mr. Toad was stolen from western KS as a tadpole and lived the majority of his life in a 10 gallon aquarium. Prime time summer entertainment was catching june bugs outside and throwing them into Mr. Toad's quarters. Eventually Mr. Toad passed and was replaced by other toads but they were never as cool.

Fish, Lots of them. I'm talking Guppies/Mollys/Assorted Goldfish/Algea Suckers/Platties/Tetras/Etc Etc.

What about you?

Kansas State Basketball / Mizzou looking at Currie for AD
« on: February 22, 2015, 04:01:30 PM »

The longer Bruceketball circles the drain the less likely it is that Currie gets his big boi SEC AD Job.

If Mizzou offers I can see him taking it in a heartbeat.

Fun questions to ponder

1. Would this make it easier to ditch oscar? Could it move the timeline up a year?

2. How would currie get along with pinkel?

3. How would this effect KSU as a whole? Fundraising/more awesome buildings/snyder replacement etc...

4. What if Mizzou hires him, Currie fires Kim immediately and hires oscar?!?!

Can't wait for ole Kirby to leave the backdoor open for his mentor bill.

Kansas State Basketball / Ideas for Fixing AFH's game day atmosphere
« on: January 13, 2015, 06:53:53 PM »
Watching the hawks take on Tboone Aggie tonight and couldn't help but notice the "Stale" atmosphere at the Field House. The only time the crowd seemed to care was when they started chanting "AIR BALL" each time Forte touched the ball. KU has a great bball tradition on the floor but could really use an upgrade when it comes to getting the crowd involved.

Idea #1

Start a cheer where the Alumni yell "JAY" then the students respond back "HAWKS!". Cheerleaders could hold up signs to really get the old geezer alumni into it. Maybe they could even speed up as they do the chant so it gets going really fast and eventually the crowd just go's absolutely Bananas.

Idea #2

Pick a song, maybe techno, maybe taylor swift. You play this song only 1 time during the game at at time out, when the crowd hears it they turn into a seething mob of lunatics.  I'm talking about 4 year olds fist pumping so hard you are concerned their arm might fall off.

The key is to save the song until your team really needs it. Good times to play it would be when the hawks need a big stop or making a comeback in the 2nd half(LOL, like they would ever be down at home).

Anyone else have any ideas?

Kansas State Football / Facts about Baylor
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:44:36 PM »
As most of you guyz know I'm a huge College FBall fan, unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about the Baylor Bears. I would imagine that alot of this board is in the same boat so I've started this thread where we can compile everything we know about Baylor Christian University.

Did a quick google search and this is what I've found so far.

1. Robert Griffin won the heisman back in 2011?

2.. Back in 2003 they had a basketball player kill another basketball player. This was big news back in the day I believe.

3. Up until 1989 they allowed snake handling on campus! What?! Yeah, crazy. This picture is from their 1953 year book and includes the late Dennis Briles and Wanda Briles.

Kansas State Football / GEMS of the Shaggy Bevo Game Thread!
« on: October 25, 2014, 02:14:54 PM »
Hey friends, ben ji here.

I skimmed through the game thread over at shaggy bevo and found some gems you might enjoy!

These game threads are awesome. Every game it's like we all woke up thinking it's 2005. "What is this crap??"
Yeah we're not very good.

they had 4 olinemen across the LOS

Here comes their bullshit downfield blocking on a pass.

our 10 stars of running backs couldn't make that move in their dreams

Right before swoopes 20 yard sack
That had to be PI. Hands in the face without looking for the ball.

Sack to take them out of field goal range
we are so rough ridin' stupid. god damnit

what in the eff.... we were at the 17 and now PUNTING?

First and ten on the KSU 17 and we end the drive with a punt. God rough ridin' damn it.

They also seem to think they are getting to jake
No way Waters finishes this game

Waters is rattled or hurt or both.

They had better call holding at least once on KSU today, or imma go Heath Ledger on quaaludes

Ha, 3rd and 13...exactly where they wanted us.

They seem really butthurt about not getting holding calls? You would think that Texas, of all teams, would realize the Big12 has to protect their "contenders"

i guess WRs are allowed to grab fistfulls of shirt as well?

That WR wasn't holding?

Is it just me, or does K-State hold more than '08 Tech?

yeah these holding missed calls are wide open, no on else around, and right at the ball holding, I dont rough ridin' understand how that isnt rough ridin' seen

They are getting every call

The reffing in this game is horrendous. I've seen Kansas State commit the same fouls Texas is getting called for with holds on quick passes and PIs, and nothing is being called against them.

Why people thought the most undisciplined team would beat the best-coached big 12 team on the road is beyond me

If you honestly think that the officiating is not causing us to lose then you're one dumb [redacted].

eff KSU. eff the Refs. eff the penalties. eff the stupid mistakes. eff losing games. eff losing games we should win. eff the Big12. eff Mack Brown. eff nothing going our way. eff everything.

HALFTIME. Take a breather guys, halfway home.

holy eff we are a riot

Im seriously concerned we are going to get shut out today. every rough ridin' time we start doing well, we make a major boneheaded play

God damn i hate 3rd quarters

how many rough ridin' times are these announcers going to suck kstates male genitals about the penalties?

we get it, they dont get penalties called on them... but its not rough ridin' newworthy every rough ridin' time one is called

Watching this team this yr has been like having a bad case of anal fissures and hemoroids. Some weeks there's no pain all is well minor discomfort. Other weeks it feels like you got mumped with a pinecone wrapped in barb wire dipped in salt and lemon juice. Today is that day

When did the Big12 front office start protecting its front runners ala $EC?

K-st has some bad ass receivers damn

Waters is a rough ridin' cake.

Ksu db's are rough ridin' garbage.

The fact we arent in this tells me we suck.

And #11? Are you rough ridin' kidding me?

how come Kstate had a kicker who sucked BALLS, and they got him off the team, went out and found some rando guy who can kick field goals? Why the eff cant we do that?

rough ridin' whores. Not a single point through 3 quarters against a bunch of JUCO fucks who barely made varsity in high school. Gotdamned unspeakable embarrassment.

Can we get some Missourians to burn this rough ridin' state down again?

kick a FG here so we don't get shut out plz

I mean jesus rough ridin' christ, we can see that from the damn TV, yet the refs call it down about 2 yards short? give me a break

What complete bullshit.

eff that and eff y'all again.

Horrible play call but horrible spot. Terrible. Terrible. Officiating today

Such bullshit. I guess we're Iowa State now :(

I rough ridin' hate kstate and the rough ridin' big 12

Well any chances of salvaging a winning record out of this season are becoming slimmer and slimmer.

I was wrong about the offense turning it around. They are just as punchless as ever today. They have no big play ability so they have to drive mistake free for 10 or more plays to score and that is not going to happen very often.

This is one of the worst Texas games I have ever witnessed. At least a route would be entertaining.

We are the flagship in the most talent rich state. Kansas state is full of walk on and Jucos and kids that learned football last week and they own our asses yr in and yr out. Is this real life?

This gif was posted alot

Finally, we can get rid of these trash non P5 schools.

Rice? SJSU? Miami of Ohio?

These schools don't even lift, let alone deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as tOSU/TX/OU/Bama/USC/KSU/FL/Mich etc etc.

Essentially Flyertalk / Ebola
« on: July 26, 2014, 06:05:51 PM »

I feel like I've seen this movie before

The Ebola virus that has already killed 660 people across West Africa has spread to Nigeria after a Liberian man boarded a plane to the country, the most populous in the continent.H e managed to board the flight despite of having a high fever. Once on the plane he vomited, before dying in Nigeria.

Upon arrival in the country’s capital Lagos - a megacity home to 21 million people - the 40-year-old had been moved to an isolation ward.

Believed to be a government official with the finance ministry, he had recently lost his sister to Ebola in Liberia, health officials there said. Authorities are now investigating anyone who may have come into contact with him.

Saudatu Koroma, 32, a resident of the densely populated Wellington neighbourhood, had been admitted to an isolation ward while blood samples were analysed, health ministry spokesman Sidi Yahya Tunis. The results came back on Thursday.

“The family of the patient stormed the hospital and forcefully removed her and took her away,” Tunis said. “We are searching for her.”
