when every child is born, they will have a computer injected into their brainstem

super babies!

Bus seriously, how much did the old days suck? We didn't even have the internet when I was in grade school. People were idiots and thought it was OK for coaches to act like the Rice coach. Also during the renaissance they didn't have telephones. THE RENAISSANCE IS NOW.

The human race as we know it will be extinct in 100 years

the eff is this crap?

Essentially Flyertalk / The Future
« on: April 08, 2013, 11:24:22 AM »
I've been thinking a lot about how freaking rad the future is going to be. I mean we're way smarter than we've ever been and technology is expanding at an exponential pace. Like my kids will never know a world without iPads. iPads will be like rotary phones to them. THINK ABOUT THAT! THINK ABOUT WHAT THE NEXT GENERATION WILL COME UP WITH!

holy crap it's going to be great.

Do you guys ever think about that kind of stuff, too? :ksu:

I went to phoenix this weekend and left wondering why anyone would choose to go there. It just becomes more and more awful the more the San Francisco smugness rubs off on me.
Oh, brother.

Going there (Phoenix) in 2 weeks, any protips?

Same question here. Have to go to Phoenix late in the month and haven't been there since '93. Took my golf clubs then, but won't have time to golf this time.

Also, thanks for the Scottsdale tip, Wacky. It reminded me that every time I've been to Phoenix I've holed up in Scottsdale. No better choice.

What would you normally do in Wichita? You can probably do the same thing in Phoenix, only with more dust.

efficiency: don't let your small children order for themselves.

Oh man, I do this all the time.  F the server, my kids need to learn how to be normal ppl.

To make up for it, I always tip big.

I do the exact same.  I am a VERY good tipper.

x3

Having kids order for themselves was addressed in Freakonomics, I think. It's very good for their development.

When an "adorable things" thread turns into a "things" thread. Okay maybe that's not too adorable.

I thought this thread was about buildings on college campuses where students congregate outside of class.

I think it kind of started to deteriorate when they became lax on the traveling calls. (kind of serious)

Another big problem with officiating throughout all of college sports is that there are conference crews.  There should be no such thing as Pac 12 refs, SEC refs, Big 12 refs, MWC refs etc etc.  Just NCAA ref crews.  Every league has different standards of officiating, and that really fucks with some teams during the tournament because they may end up having refs who call the game completely different from what they were used to during the season.  Also, you have garbage like SEC football refs protecting their best teams during close games and Big 12 basketball refs constantly calling games differently for KU than for KU's opponents.

ummmmm

Hey, Cayucas, I liked you better when you were called Vampire Weekend. Actually I liked you about equally. Which is not very much but don't hate you.

I may like them more! :ksu:

I went to Mac DeMarco last night. He was OK. His voice is the highlight of his albums for me, and he just can't carry it through a show. But he had a good band and had this great/hilarious medley of covers at the end. He played like, enter Sandman, Back in Black, and George Michael. It was the best part.

for whatever reason i picture seeing Mac DeMarco in an old bowling alley as the perfect setting.

I agree. All the songs were way sped up and kids were trying to make moshing happen. I'd rather he take his time and croon.

whoa. that is really weird. definitely think of him as more a lounge act than anything. the covers sound pretty hilarious though.

he like changed the lyrics into nonsense, too. And he sang Back in Black in probably his most lounge-y voice of the night.

using the "just because my religion supports bigotry and I follow my religion in their support of bigotry doesn't mean I'm a bigot" talking point is such a rough ridin' pro-move

yeah, it's awesome. I'm not judging you, I'm just saying that I believe your lifestyle choice is wrong.

richard pitino is an excellent hire. he will coach for five years at minny and then take the louisville job.
