i want to shoot a pig, but don't have a good place to go.
just booked my pig hunt in east texas for the end of the month.  $300 for a 3 day hunt for 2 pigs of any size on a fenced in 160 acre ranch.  I mean, that's basically cheaper than you can buy it at a rough ridin' butcher...and I get to kill it myself.  :excited:

I really despise these threads.  Not sure why I clicked.

I suggest that if you ever see one started by Pete you click on it as hard as you can

Yeah, the Arkansas one is a thing of beauty
probably my favorite thread of all time on this site.

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: Squirrels
« on: December 10, 2013, 02:05:30 PM »
did anybody read the Redwall series when they were younger? I really liked the squirrels in those books. they were mostly good guys and really fun characters.

youngMH used to watch the squirrels play when MHdad would take him hunting with him. youngMH used to imagine they were his favorite squirrel characters from the books, on an adventure to save Redwall abbey!

there was even a squirrel named Gooch! he had the title of Friar and liked to cook!  :D
don't remember the redwall stories.  I think I said it earlier in this thread, but watching squirrels run around in the woods is great entertainment when you're sitting in a tree stand.

rams, you're an idiot.  texascat1 sounds like a great person.

Yup, very sad story.
of course it's a sad story.  a dog dying is always sad.  but a dog suffering a miserable existence is always more sad than a dog dying. he's old as eff, he can't hear and he can't see and he doesn't understand why.  that's horrible.  he needs to be put down.  this guy is delaying his own pain of losing his dog and letting his dog suffer in the meantime.  that's about as selfish as you can get.

Occlusal guard. Tell your dentist you grind your teeth and dobber said that you needed an occlusal guard. Also, get your girlfriend one.

NOT FOR THAT REASON!!!! She is spending her time with Wacky and will likely lead to lots of stress and anxiety. Get your minds out of the gutter goEMAW.
my wife just got one.  like $500 for this little plastic/rubber piece of crap. :dubious:

my 3 year old daughter grinds her teeth so hard I can hear her through her closed door when I'm in the living room watching tv.  :sdeek:

RAMS!!!!!!!!!!! :impatient:
ok so apparently it's not even close to the state record.  it green scored at 238 1/8 and the kansas record for a non-typical is 280 4/8  (:horrorsurprise:) it's gonna crush the rice county record though.  also he shot it with a muzzle loader.

anyway...here's an article:

« on: December 08, 2013, 09:36:23 PM »
I'm getting ready to buy new tires too.  :frown:

go to this site: www.simpletire.com and input the size of your tire.  choose a decent name brand tire and have them delivered to your house.  call around and see which car shops in your area will install tires that you bring in yourself.  I've found that a lot of stand-alone places will.  probably not sears or wal-mart or big places like that.  I'm taking mine to big-o tire.  they said they'll do it for the same price on labor, weight and balance, etc as if you bought the tires from them.  you could save some serious scratch.

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: where would you like to move right now?
« on: December 06, 2013, 09:21:28 PM »
I've actually thought about this a lot.  I can't really move at this point because of my business, but I can work remotely about 95% of the time. kansas is very appealing to me for a lot of different reasons.  I can golf when it's warm, I can hunt when it's cold, and I get to experience all of the seasons.  I could do without temps below 20 degrees or above 95, but that sort of comes with the territory.  I'm right in the middle of the country, so I'm a 3+ hour flight away from anywhere in the nation.  cost of living is cheap and I'm close to family.  all things considered, I guess I'd probably rather be in manhattan than lawrence, but lawrence is still a really great place and has benefits that manhattan doesn't.  also I'm only about an hour drive away, so that's no big deal.  really the only other place in the country that offers everything I would want would be the pacific northwest. great area for outdoors activities without the 100 degree summer days and the sub zero winter nights.

went duck hunting for the first time on sunday.  we saw at shitload of geese and ducks (probably a thousand or so) but the pond we were hunting was iced over so not many of them landed.  we only came away with 2 ducks between 3 of us.

also I'm a terrible rough ridin' shot right now.  :embarrassed:

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: How Many Credit Cards Do You Have?
« on: December 03, 2013, 03:08:28 PM »
so my bill for my SW card is due on the 27th of this month. this will give me the 50K bonus i signed up for but i dont want the points to go into my account then because i want to try for the companion pass. can i call chase and ask them to move my payment date a few days back? will it take a few days to get the points into my RR account to the point where SW will only see them go in after january 1?
your points will post to your account shortly after your closing date.  if your bill is due on the 27th, your statement should've already closed by now and if you hit the $2,000 minimum on this statement, the points will likely post to your account in a few days.  you may be screwed.  :frown:

cooking macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls, and mashed potatoes.  will also heat up one of those spiral cut hams.  going to bake the potatoes and then mash, which i have never done before.  little nervous, but also excited, hope they turn out.

will prolly eat about 90% rolls, though, so don't really care.

In a cast iron skillet put butter, minced garlic and let garlic get translucent and the add heavy cream, salt & pepper

Add to mashed potatoes
I just always throw in a couple cloves of garlic with the taters when they're boiling and add the butter when I mash them.

also put some cream cheese in there. it will change your life.

our mini dachshund tried to kill a possum a few years ago.  grabbed it by the back of it's neck and shook the hell out of it.  it was still sort of twitching so I though it broke its neck but was still alive.  I finally got my dog away and the rest went something like this.

Just had the Aint No Cleats discussion with a real live person who was fully convinced it is Adidas' fault.

Sent from my KFTT using Tapatalk 2

Adidas is far below Nike and UA.  No surprise their equipment sux
speaking of which ku is "blacking out" saturday

If true, the results will not look favorable.  It will nicely distinguish the KU/KSU ratio though.
no it won't.  that's why they're doing it.  they'll be plenty of ksu fans in black shirts and black coats.  if they wore blue or red it would look hilariously pro ksu in there.

Couldn't you just save your receipt and return everything on Sunday? I don't see an *items purchased are ineligible for returns

I would 100% try this if I wasn't going to be out of town

Think I'm going to.. Should I wear purple when I go to buy the crap?  :fatty:
just tried to call and get the specifics since I "plan on buying christmas gifts and want to make sure they can be returned" but apparently they're closed until friday.  THANKS OBAMA!!!

You are playing with fire, my friend.

Do a water brine, and deep fry it.  Best of both worlds.
just put mine in the brine. :lick:  the butterball "indoor" electric turkey fryer works amazing. set it and forget it.  I picked one up for like $75 a couple years ago.  just don't use it indoors.  I set mine up on a folding table in my garage and my garage smells like grease for a couple hours afterward so I can't imagine what it would be like inside. :sdeek: I only use it for frying turkeys every year, but it's still worth it.

I like that Weis is looking past K-State toward the offseason.

“I gotta get through this game, and then the Sunday after Kansas State, I gotta get on a plane and go recruiting get out of this shithole and back to florida where I can put my feet up and stop pretending to work for my paycheck.
