Landry is by far the best QB OU has ever had. He has the best stats, and he's accumulated them over the past 2 seasons against what are by far the 2 most difficult conference slates OU has ever faced. I'm pretty sure that Sam Bradford is the only OU QB to ever start a game in the NFL, and he's not very good.

While he may have great stats I seriously doubt most OU fans consider him the best QB they've ever had and there is no way this or last years conference slate was any tougher than OU in 2000 when they beat four top 10 teams in Texas, Nebraska and K-State (twice if you include Big 12 championship)

That 2000 OU team also played 4-7 Kansas, 2-9 Baylor, 3-8 Oklahoma State, and 3 shitty nonconference teams while this year's team played #1 Notre Dame and a conference slate against 8 bowl teams and only 1 free win.

It doesn't really matter who most OU fans consider to be their best QB. Most K-State fans don't consider Josh Freeman to be our best QB and they are all just as wrong as those OU fans.

Hold on, you specifically stated that they played the two most difficult conference slates the past two years and now you're throwing in non-con games.  Also, you're arguing that they played eight bowl teams this year.  That's not a fair representation of the difficulty of schedules because there are 35 bowl games this year.  There were only 25 bowl games in 2000.  There is no way Iowa State is going to a bowl game this year if there were only 25 bowls.

landry jones would have started for every college team in the country this season if he was on their roster.

He wouldn't have started on every Big 12 team let alone every single college team.  He doesn't start over Geno Smith at WVU or Collin Klein.  In regard to teams outside of the county, I don't see him starting at Alabama either.  You don't bench last years national championship game MVP for Landry Jones.

landry jones is a great qb.

Like one of the four best senior QB's in the country great, or like the best college QB in the state of Oklahoma great?

I'm happy for ABJr. and Chris Harper but to find out today that Landry Jones accepted an offer makes me want to vomit.  He has the fifth highest QB rating out of all the Senior QB's in the Big 12 behind Geno Smith, Collin Klein, Seth Doege, and Nick Florence.  Plus he just looks like a total douche.  Not Johnny Manziel douchey but like a Chris Weinke type douche.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Bones and I can't make it to the game (last minute complications) so we're having a few similarly-situated friends over to watch it with us (multiple TV's of course).

Our menu inclues: Tostito's Cantina Chips, with Mrs. B's chili con queso (secret recipe , can't reveal here...will make millions later, then will share), Mrs. B's chicken enchilada casserole (can't reveal for the same reasons), and Cuervo Gold margs and Dos Equis darks. Did we miss anything?

extra toilet paper?

Seems like every bar district is average and apparently there are no liquor stores that have a selection beyond bud light. I'm unimpressed

What more do you need? Let me guess, you're one of those guys that likes a good strong Cosmo.
I'll drink anything, including weak cosmos, if someone else is buying. But if I'm buying, its gonna be good beer, good whiskey, or crappy wine, no exceptions.

Regardless, I don't feel sorry for you. While you're at the Fiesta Bowl my ass will be doing client work. Meaning, that I will indeed be billing the client during the game on Thursday.
I may have over reacted to not finding a liquor store worth a crap, but I feel pretty confident  in saying your job is dogshit. I also don't feel sorry for you.

Making 6 figures at 26 isn't "dogshit". This I can assure you.

Do you also tell the ladies you have a 13 inch male genitals?  Bragging about money is soooo gpc.com

So where would they put the track? KU has to have one somewhere..one KU Relays is better than 20 KU football games.

Olympic village type thing being discussed.  Actually it has been approved but is about $100m shy of being funded last I heard and they"only need one or two donars to step up to get it done"

You know, yr 2 type stuff.

I think the first quarter will tell a lot about how this game ends. My impression is that K State starts slow on offense. That's not a good thing to do against the Ducks. If K State starts slow and Oregon gets rolling on offense, it's game over. It's just not wise to get behind the Ducks as it gives both the offense and defense a lot more good choices in schemes.

If K State starts slow offensively and doesn't let Oregon get started, it should be a tight game. I'm not to worried about it if Oregon gets behind early, because they can score quickly and don't panic. They could be down 21 in the fourth and still be in the game with a good chance to win.

Lets have a great game with no injuries and may the best team win.

I agree that how the teams start will make a big difference. K-State showed that they they could overcome somewhat slow starts against fast paced, explosive offenses against Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, granted neither team is as talented as Oregon and both games were in Manhattan. The Baylor game was where K-State really got off course and panicked. K-State can't let that happen again.

As far as pace goes, K-State won't be surprised by how fast Oregon plays. 5 Big 12 teams averaged over 76 plays per game and 6 ran plays every 24 seconds of total possession or less. The average number of plays on offense for the Big 12 was 73.9 per game and teams ran plays 24.3 seconds of possession on average. The Pac 12 averages were 73 plays per game and average a play ran ever 24.5 seconds of possession. Overall K-State handled that well, only Baylor and KU reached 80 offensive plays against them. The KU game was skewed because K-State averaged nearly 10 yards per snapped, so possession wasn't as high as normal.

I think too much is said about how many plays get run, time of possession, etc. I do not expect K State to be surprised at all by the pace of the Oregon offense. K State has an excellent defense and will be a great challenge. K State doesn't make mistakes and Oregon thrives on opponents mistakes, so I think this is a close game. What I am curious about is how K State handle Barner, Thomas, Mariota, and Lyerla carrying the ball. Remember Seastrunk was sitting #3 on the depth charts behind Barner and Thomas before he left.

I imagine we'll probably try and tackle them before they get too many yards

Solid gameplan

GoDucks, at what point do the real Oregon fans normally show up? Are you the scout squad?

LOL I've only been a Duck fan since 1969......

Back to fball, I'd expect the Oregon defense to stuff the K State running game forcing K State to move the ball through the air. Question is can Oregon contain K States passing game.

GoDucks, I feel like I have to respond to your post since I used to nail an Oregon grad on a fairly regular basis.  She was a huge Duck fan and through our trysts I can confirm that Oregon will neither stuff the run or contain the passing game.  Trust me, I have "inside her" information.

Tyler is obviously playing a game of Counterfactuals.
In a world were Ell Roberson the 3rd is suspended during the 1st quarter of the 2004 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, who wins the 2010 Superbowl?
Cheese Danish

Defend
Defense: A disgusted EMAW fan in NYC throws their Tostitos queso jar out in the street.  Said jar falls into the sewer where it bumps some innocent turtles out of the path of some mutagen.  The mutagen transforms the queso into a sentient being hellbent on destroying the Earth.  However, the infantile queso monster is mistakenly blended into the nutritional supplements of the NY Jets franchise.  The Jets consume the contaminated supplements and their DNA is transformed into that of a cheese danish.  The Jets timeline continues as normal but their newfound powers prove to be the catalyst for victories over the Steelers in the 2010 AFC championship and the Packers in the 2010 Superbowl.

Impossible.  Said mutagen would only enhance Sanchez's abilities to throw more interceptions than anyone thought humanly possible.  Jets go 0-16 and draft Ndamukong Suh with the #1 overall pick, confident that Sanchez will "turn it around."

Be serious now, were playing Tyler Drellings presents Gopowercat counterfactuals

That reminds me of a good joke. What's the difference between Tyler Dreiling and a bucket of crap?

Quote from: The Phog
Year 1- gut the bad apples, implement real coaching/S&C, play more competitive

Year 2- load up on talented JCs, get a real QB, bear fruits of real S&C, win 5+ games to show marked improvement (possible shtty bowl)

(announce stadium renovations)

Year 3- sell HS kids on improvement and PT with so many Seniors; go bowling. Sign a big time QB (if he's not on campus already)

(complete renovations. No track, square off the bowl, update concourses, etc)

Year 4- Same results win-wise as year 3, but much younger team. Plug a few holes with JCs, but more HS kids for future

Year 5- It's all built, 100% Gill free, 6-8 wins a given. Weis decides if it's his swan song or a couple more years.

Year 6- Weis coaches one more year, mostly because he has found a Reesing with a gun. Balls bounce the right way all year, and we win the North on a tiebreaker. In the Big 12 title game, the 10 point underdog Jayhawks shock the football world when a 85 yard TD drive beats FSU 34-31.
KU is the 3 seed in the BCS playoff, getting a great draw by getting Stanford. KU wins 29-21.
The title game, played in the Rose Bowl, matches KU vs tOSU and first year coach Dave Doeren. Despite being undersized on both lines, KU uses big plays to stay close all night. Down 1 with 48 seconds left, a long punt return gets KU to tOSUs 33. After a holding penalty and 2 incompletions, our QB finds our RS TE for an 11 yard gain, setting up a 50 yard FG. KUs kicker, a Lou Groza award finalist, drills the game winner as time expires. (I miss the end because I'm having a threesome with two 20 yr old Asian chicks. I celebrate later)

Skip years 2-5 and go straight to six.  Anybody that thinks the #dreamteam2013 will win less than 10 games next year and go to a BCS bowl obviously doesn't follow college football.

Watching/breaking down Oregon's offense is exhausting. They don't do a lot of stuff, but man they play fast running nearly 18 more plays per game on ave than K-State. That said, plenty of Big 12 teams play at similar speeds; Baylor, OK State, Tech.

That's only because of LHC Bill Snyder's grind it out game plan.  Oregon runs the fifth most plays per game average at 84.2 and K-State runs the fifth least at 65.  Plus even with all these plays, their time of possession is only ranked #96 in D1 football vs K-State at #18.  Obviously due to their high powered offense and ability to go 80 yards in less time than it takes LifeofFitz to eat a bucket of KFC.  This game isn't going to be won by time of possession or number of plays but how many yards per play K-State's D can hold Oregon to and turnovers.  Zimmerman is a lock for one INT.  Mark it down.

Yeah he definitely started.

How do you explain the Powercat Illustrated article?

I mean, I agree that I can watch my tape of the game and see Ell playing all game, or I can look at the box score and see he played the whole way - http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=240020194 - but I must be confusing something because Tyler Dreiling makes it very clear that Ell was suspended for the first quarter.

He was suspended the first quater, but Ell is a warrier so he played through that suspension.
