afaik there has not been an official investigation released, but the smart people seem to have settled on the idea that it was a ukrainian operation.

hullo, mr perry.

Doesn't the bill include funding Ukraine? Maybe Putin won't let them take the win?

yes it includes funding for ukraine.  house republicans are vowing to kill it.

still possible that republicans will take the win, but at the time of the 2020 election, i would not have predicted this outcome in a million guesses.

tomlin would help a little but tomlin can't play point.

The point guard has a torn meniscus and got hurt the week of the first game

that's the kind of insider knowledge that keeps me coming back to this bulletin board.

86
i'd consider it a victory if the team could fight their way back into the top 50.

87
i haven't watched this team as much as some of you, but imo the only thing wrong with it is that perry was a bust.

Well that and Tomlin getting booted

tomlin would help a little but tomlin can't play point.

Given that with America it is no longer rational to expect bi-partisan support for anything (let alone for the welfare of non-Americans), isn’t the most reasonable course of action to continue to plow as many resources as possible into institutions that can serve as some insurance against the perils of whipsawing policy? Defense budget, NATO support, infrastructure, energy independence…these are the things that can buoy us.

i think there is a very strong argument that with the pax americana era dying or already dead, we need to increase defense spending.  we aren't going to do so, but we should.

whatever you think of how the united states has treated native americans, there hasn't been a lens through which it could argued to be considered foreign policy for a hundred years.

Why would they trust us regardless? We have a 4 year election cycle and there’s like a 50% chance we elect a guy who already tried to overthrow the US government.

in the past we had a bipartisan commitment to maintaining a coherent foreign policy.  i agree that it is no longer rational for other countries to trust the united states.

i don't think it's news to anyone that this board is significantly out of step with the nation's politics.

It has always been our custom to lead from the front.

Politics board should be renamed to reference the movement of the Overton Window that we are responsible for.

the board has more in common with the proverbial japanese soldier isolated on an island.

I do not think there is an overwhelming majority of Americans who want to fund this for infinity.  I think the plan was stop the orcs (successful) and now they are just stuck in place grinding up the orc olds/pedos.  Eventually putin will die and someone new will come in and possibly reach an accord.

the idea that russia would view losing a few hundred k soldiers (many criminals, drunks and ukrainian nationals) in exchange for taking eastern ukraine as a loss is pretty delusional, imo.

meanwhile, the united states in the last few years will have reneged on a treaty with iran, abandoned the kurds, abandoned our supporters in afghanistan and abandoned ukraine.  i don't know why anyone globally would trust us to fulfill any commitment we might make.

thought they looked clearly less talented in the first, but i was impressed that they came back to make it competitive in the second.  they hit some big shots.

i don't think the tone of this thread reflects the current reality in ukraine (us aid stopped, ukraine running out of munitions and men, russia advancing) very well.
