Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / tcu game postgame comments
« on: February 27, 2018, 10:10:52 PM »
i've been critical of tcu, but i was impressed tonight.  thought they did a great job of attacking the kstate ball handler on those top of the key screens.  nice offensive game plan too, first team i can recall in a while that really made kstate pay for playing the pass so aggresively.  hard to say that did a great job against wade, as he was pretty dominant, but i thought it was a good move not to d him with brod, which iirc, they've tried in previous games with poor results.  when they had williams on him in the 2nd, it did seem to bother wade more than most defenders do.

if they hadn't shot so poorly, it would have been a pretty comfortable win.  and i don't think kstate played poorly, overall.

i think i'm a fan of this team now.  carter has always been a favorite and i really liked #13 last night.  i fell in love with him when he sprinted over to huggins and told him "___ can't guard ___", and then sprinted back onto the court, i think for a ft or something.

i wish i'd have been able to hear who couldn't guard who.  i hope it wasn't the guy guarding him who couldn't guard him, but it probably was.

i'm going to watch this game and will form and post an opinion here subsequently.  others can use this thread for the same purpose, if they wish.

outside of the new joe montgomery birther pit, libertarians and fence-sitting moderates scarcely exist (if you read only one online political article today, choose this one, it's interesting).

i've linked a fair number of his articles, fitting them into existing threads haphazardly.  from now on, i think it will be better to place them in their own thread.

i wish i could be more positive, but i'm hearing that we probably won't.  My source is the biggest individual donor to the athletic department whose name does not appear on a building at the university, some of you can easily figure out who it is. As of this morning this is what he believes -

Currie - Currie absolutely wants to make his mark hiring the next football coach and feels as if the facility improvements have him in a good position. According to my friend, money will not be an issue, he has $$$ commitments from several big donors. BTW, unlike most on GPC, the donors like the guy and have given him a pass for hiring Weber but won't be so charitable if the successor to Snyder is anything less than a "homerun" hire. There is, and has been, a short list of candidates to replace Coach Snyder and BV is not on the list (too much baggage).

Weber - A trip to the NCAA Tournament buys him another year but anything less than that and they part ways. At the time Weber was hired Underwood was not a serious candidate because he was seen as part of Frank's "gang" (fair or not) and the university had to distance itself from some off the court issues that were associated with the previous staff. Evidently there was a shady, although highly successful and influential, amateur coach from the Kansas City area whose dealings were threatening to compromise the program as well as the university.

The basketball short list consists mainly of Henson and some top assistants from P5 schools. Currie, like every other AD who's coach is on the hot seat, puts out feelers to the agents of possible candidates and has been told that Archie Miller is waiting for the Ohio State job to open and Steve Forbes' has his sights set on a couple of SEC jobs that could open up in the next year or two.

Wildcard - The wildcard in all of this is the possibility of Currie taking another job, which my guy thinks is unlikely. If he were to take another job nothing would change until a new AD is in place. If the basketball team doesn't make the tournament, and Weber is retained, that almost certainly means that Currie has agreed to another job.

Quote
As Trump has tapped into a dissatisfaction with the political status quo in the US, his stance toward Mexico appears to have bolstered the position of a Mexican presidential candidate who has the same anti-establishment appeal.

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, often referred to as AMLO, has twice run for Mexico's presidency, losing narrowly in 2006 and again by 6 points to Peña Nieto in 2012 — and he's set to run again in 2018.

i know none of you care about mexico, but this would be a disaster.  amlo is a megalomaniac that either can't or doesn't care to distinguish truth from fiction.  a cross between trump and chavez.
