Kansas State Football / Re: Nebraska's struggle for relevance.
« on: November 30, 2019, 06:27:08 PM »
No bowl game.

Unfortunately, they're not quite dead yet. There are three bowl slots left and 8 teams still trying to get bowl eligible. Army has to beat Hawaii and Navy, they're out, so that's 7 for 3 spots.

Boston College has to beat Pitt. Boston College is also the only team ahead of Nebraska in the apr rating for potential 5 win teams.

Oregon State has to beat Oregon

Colorado has to beat Utah

UL Monroe has to beat Louisiana

Liberty has to beat New Mexico State

North Carolina has to beat NCSU

Michigan State has to beat Maryland

The first four teams have no chance. If all four of those teams lose, two of the other three would have to win to keep Nebraska home again. The last time they made a bowl they were one of those apr charity cases.

BC won.
Liberty won.
Michigan State won.

More games still to come.

NU's backdoor bowl hopes are dead.

Now the team has more time to focus on themselves.

great work as usual, dlew.
also, their 2nd fake punt, what in the eff were our guys doing?

What's crazy about it is we left the defense on the field. I don't remember which corner it was but he just stopped and was peeking in the backfield. If I were a fake he just let the receiver go. If I were a punt he just let the gunner take a free run at the returner. Pretty inexcusable mental lapse.

It was Robinson I think, rs freshman. I thought he played really well for coming off the bench, but that was a big mistake.

Pretty sure it was McGee and yeah it was weird.

It was McGee.

Robinson (and all the young secondary) mostly played well, with just a few screw ups.  Far better than I though would happen in light of the injuries piling up in the secondary.

Kansas State Football / Farmageddon
« on: November 20, 2019, 04:23:26 PM »
I was on the Internets and my feed had a link to "Farmageddon: the Movie."

I was  :excited:  I mean, the world finally took notice of the pageantry that is 'Cats v 'Clones, and were going to put it in its lofty place right there next to Army v Navy, Harvard v Yale, Cats v Dogs.

I clinked the link and got this.

Not sure how to take it.  I part of me is  :shakesfist:, but another says  :dunno:.

So, not satisfied with the result, I do a search for "farmageddon" and get this other movie.

https://farmageddonmovie.com/

I feel sort of bad.  Like the best movie of them all is not being made.

Kansas State Football / Re: Roll Call! Lawrence road trip?

If you're looking for a great burger and an ice cold beer before or after the game, I recommend Johnny's West. I've know the owner for a very long time and while he obviously made the totally wrong school choice, he acts like he actually went to KSU and is a good guy. Besides, it's on the west side of campus/town and pretty much outside the general stench that emanates from downtown Larryville and that POS excuse of a campus/stadium.

To add, if looking for quite excellent BBQ, hit Biemer's.  It is 1/2 block west of Iowa on 9th (not far from campus).  Excellent BBQ across the board and I am a big fan of their wings (they are smoked then crisped in the fryer).

Listen, I think oscar sold his soul to the devil to make this crap work a 2nd time around, but I’m legit rough ridin' sold. The new class looks great and I think he’s building another monster for the next 4 years.

I don't disagree with your take.  There is great young talent in, and coming into, the program.

31
Nope.  Watching at home.  Wondering if anyone will start a "Makol Mawein Doink" thread for when he makes an egregiously bad shot/play.

I'm too old to figure out the video capture thing.  But my guess is the youngsters on this board would be pretty good at it.

Oh, I am very, very sure there will be more opportunities throughout the season to make this dream become a reality.

Damn, JaMycal Hasty just put his cleat on the throats of OSU.

Baylor will probably be 9-0 when they play the Sooners.

wvu looked as dogshit as ku, so to lose that game at home in front of what they are calling their best home crowd in years, isn't a great sign.  i think they are banking on having a top 25 recruiting class, which if they can do that after a 2-4 win season, with that stadium, that would be impressive for miles

Was the game on ESPN+?  I am a subscriber.  I tried to look for it Saturday, and had no luck.  It did not show  up in my queue of games to watch.  I went back to watch a replay the next day, and it still is not there.

I could just be clueless, or maybe they blacked it out close to Lawrence (I'm in Topeka).  Not sure.

Kansas State Football / Re: New Uniforms Master Thread
« on: September 19, 2019, 11:39:31 PM »
question:  where the hell are the jerseys?
we were promised beaucoup jerseys and I haven’t see jack crap except the same old uniforms we always have

honestly couldn’t care less about winning games if we look like Shorty Kleinau dressed our team during one of his well known peyote binges, which is exactly what we’ve looked like this season

come on Kleinau, bust out some good threads for us.  for anyone who says Kleinau is retired, you’re nuts not to think he’s not still pulling the the strings in the equipment room.  he’s more connected than at&t.

Not like Snyder had any in the pipeline.  New staff can want to have new looks, but the lead time is over a year to outfit the team, so you get nothing but maybe minor morsels this year.

Next year?  Maybe some real hope.

STARKVILLE, Miss. –

After the special teams score, the Wildcat defense forced two consecutive three-and-outs to give them five such stops for the game. K-State quarterback Skylar Thompson followed the second fourth quarter stop with a six-play, 53-yard scoring drive to take the lead. He ended it with a 15-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Dalton Gruntley with 5:37 to play.

Who the F is Dalton Gruntley?

How have we not kicked them out yet? The rest of the conference out here running a train on other P5s and floodaggie floodaggies

Might need to kick out WastelandAggie as well, looking at how they are playing against pretty sketch Arizona team.

If they are going to do it, might as well embrace it.

Jordy - Yes
Hartman - Meh

Wish list: Bishop, Roberson, Buhl, AB Jr, Mario Smith

I would hope that people the level of Bishop would be used for really big games.  I know Jordy was utilized for Nicholls, but being the first time it was done, that is an exception.

At Boston College on Friday night. ACCNetwork, so thankfully most people around the nation won’t be able to see it. :frown:

I knew there was a reason I subscribed to PSVue with the SportsPackage last month.

Stocking up on popcorn this week.

KSU may have been in better shape than KU when Grandpa left, but face it, that team was not playing as well last year as they are now. The new guy has taken them up a notch and they are rocking and rolling. What's even more crappy is that my KSU friends did not have the heart to rub it in after this game, they are treating me as if they just found out my prized dog won't hunt.

The KSU friends didn't have the heart to tell him the issue is the dog won't hunt, but that it is dead.

I'm real excited about the south expansion.. hope it looks neat

Rumor has it big Gene already has 60 million raised and it’s going to be for several projects including south end zone.

I hope someone got into Gene's ear about the need to outdo everyone else and add a lazy river.  Maybe put a waterslide as well done from the top of the Bram. (With a few extra bucks we could do something like the National Whitewater Center and their lift so you can just keep recirculating =

I have learned through Wikipedia that former TSC bud Greg Ostertag is a Mount Vernon, TX bigwig

KU BB Bum.  :Yuck:

Not sure about what language that is in those clips.  I doubt it is terrestrial.

Kansas State Football / Re: Can we go 7-5 in 2019 ?
« on: April 17, 2019, 08:55:04 PM »
I am the definition of a 'Cat sunshine pumper.  The 'Cats are the only thing I am ever optimistic about.

With that said, I would take 6-6 and be joyous.  This team has some real roster/talent problems, and we have a staff taking a huge step up in competition they will face.  There will be a learning curve.  Breakin' even would be nothin' but gravy.

oscar is still landing 3 stars, yes, but 2 are top 150 3 stars (currently the top 130 are 4 stars and higher on Rivals). Murphy is #138, Gordon is #144, getting top 150 guys is an improvement. Gordon is also a late bloomer, didn't start Varsity until later in HS, uncommon for someone who is Mr Chicago Basketball. IIRC Diarra was also a late bloomer, didn't focus on basketball until later in high school. IMO oscar has been good at identifying who isn't just great in high school, but who has potential to be a great college player.

Our biggest deficiency is consistently getting good bigs. Wade is the exception. Guard talent has been and will continue to be a strength.

To add, IIRC, Wade grew dramatically late in his high school career.  Coupled with his small town status, that thinned out competition for him quite a bit.

I feel kind of bad for Melton.  He faces an incredible burden being so good looking.

I am glad he has shown the mental toughness to overcome such an otherwise debilitating problem.

Thank God the crowd at TCU is less intimidating than a Tuesday night game at Gardner-Edgerton, otherwise with KSU lackluster play tonight, I'd be extremely tense.

How frustrating is Levi Stadium.

If KSU had more seating in the endzones with a full connection to the east side, it would be rather Levi's Stadium-ish.
