Kansas State Football / Maid-Rite vs Nu Way
« on: June 13, 2017, 01:28:20 PM »
“I love Maid-Rite sandwiches,” he said. “Growing up, I would walk instead of take the bus to save my money for those. They were twenty-five cents.”

Has Snyds enjoyed a Nu Way Sandwich on any of his trips to ICT?

What are the differences, if any, between these loose meat sandwiches?

I know that at least in my lifetime, K-State owns the overall football series.  And this even includes the Ellis Rainsberger and Stan Parrish debacles.

Governor's Cup (1969–Present) results
K-State leads 26–19–1
Largest K-State win: 64–0 (2002)
Largest KU win: 52–21 (2008) & 38–7 (1985)
Longest K-State streak: 11 games (1993–2003)
Longest KU streak: 5 games (1973–1977)

Probably luked, but what were the 2 story rectangular structures on the east and west side of Vanier going to be?  Any idea why they were scrapped?

Travis,

I do not.  Thanks for asking, though.

KU fans complaining about the banana incident from 1978 grows tiresome.  How quickly they forget it was a merely a response to the antics orchestrated by ku students a few weeks before.  From the February 25, 1983 LJ World:

"In January 1978, KU fans at Allen Fieldhouse tossed hot dogs onto the court when flashy Wildcat Curtis Redding was introduced, as an indication of his gregarious on-court manner. . . . The Cat fans responded in kind the following month, tossing more than 100 bananas onto the court when Jayhawk Donnie Von Moore was introduced in front of a Manhattan crowd."

Injuries to ku player and several fans in 2006 haven't stopped the madness in Lawrence:

"Not only is the risk of injury great when students rush the field, but the damage also proves costly for the Athletics Department. A pair of goalposts cost $6,000 and last season the celebration after the game against Nebraska nearly cost the Jayhawks one of their top players.

Former KU standout Charles Gordon had to be helped off the field by trainers after he was trampled by fans following the Nebraska victory.

"How stupid is that for fans to rush on the field and hurt a football player?" Marchiony asked.

Marchiony said several fans suffered minor injuries and a KU facilities worker came within a foot of a goalpost landing on his head during the on-field celebrations last year."

Oh brother.  ku Assistant Coach, Clint Bowen, weighs in on this hot topic:

KU interim coach Clint Bowen said Monday he didn’t have a problem with the celebration.

“Obviously, we want to get to a point where winning games is expected and we don’t act that way,” Bowen said during the Big 12 teleconference. “But the bottom line is, our program has not had success lately. For people to go out there and be able to enjoy a Kansas victory was good to see.”

KU needs to address their security measures immediately and fire that lazy policeman!  You call that security?  Oh the humanity!  Interesting that this video is posted on KU's official vine account.

Got an e-mail from a co-worker who is a ku grad:
---------------------------------------------------------------
I have three little kids.  My son is five; my middle daughter is four and youngest daughter is 4 months old.  My two oldest kids love KU and love to go to Lawrence to see where their parents went to school.  So the other day I get an e-mail from KU Athletics advertising the September 6, 2014 game.  It’s against Mary’s School for the Blind Beauticians, so I think, “Hey, my kids would enjoy the trip to KU, plus the ‘Hawks might win.”  I call the KU ticket office and ask about tickets.  They give the prices, which varied depending upon the seats.  Then the ticket guy says, “The best deal we have is a family four pack.  You get four tickets to all the home games, two adults and two student/kids tickets for $350.00.  And we have an agreement StubHub, so you can sell your tickets.  And we play Texas and OSU at home this year, so if you sell those tickets, you’ll probably get your money back.”  Now, admittedly I bought the season tickets, thinking this is an excuse to go up to Lawrence with my family.  But what I took away from the conversation was, 1) KU football sucks so much that four tickets to all the home games are only worth $350.00; and 2) KU football sucks so much that you should buy season tickets so you can sell them to fans of teams that want to come watch their team kick the tar out of KU, so you can make money.  Making money off misery: makes me proud to be a Jayhawk.

In looking at that picture, it would not appear that the south video board and "hustle boards" are being replaced.

Serpentine is great and now an essential part of our brand. I'm fine with that.

Why are wheatshocker sites using Serpentine?

Anyone notice that the recruiting lounge and Varsity Club from the old Phase III now appear to be missing (structure to the north of WSC)?  Perhaps they will be incorporated into the new Vanier?
