Situated betwixt the University of Colorado – Boulder, and the University of Kansas – Lawrence, the Manhattan community is on the very front lines of our country’s war on drugs.

Ever since its inception, the Dwight D. Eisenhower interstate highway (I-70),  has been awash with the commerce of black marketers – Men with a blood thirsty profit motive and a more-than-willing consumer base.  In the academic community it’s common knowledge that one need only whisper for dope or give a nod of the head, and you’ll find yourself with a bounty of pharmalogicals at either of the afore mentioned institutions.

What does this have to do with Kansas State University athletics?  In a word, Everything.  Until we begin to crack down on the opium dens and dope houses in Lawrence and Boulder, we are fighting a losing war in Manhattan.  In Howard Bryant’s biography of the great Henry Aaron, he recalls how Henry’s father used to remind him that the white man wanted to “…’cut the head off of the snake,’which meant emasculating a black male in order break his family.” (The last hero: a life of Henry Aaron By Howard Bryant, Pantheon 2010).  That rings true in the case at hand, would that we only had one head to remove!  The action that must be taken is the decapitation of BOTH heads, Boulder and Lawrence.  I am personally calling for the crackdown on the prevalent and destructive drug cultures that are leaching into surrounding communities – Most notably, Manhattan, Kansas.

There is hope!  Governor Sam Brownback (Agricultural Economics, 1979) is keenly aware of this matter.  You can bet dollars to donuts (as certain soon-t0-be-HOF football coach is fond of saying!) that crackdowns WILL happen, and will happen fast.  For the Wildcat family, this is welcomed news.  For all others, I encourage you  to think twice before you load your dope cargo onto your veritable iron-mules and embark on Dwight D. Eisenhower’s highway.

Hey Trim!  How come you use sombody else's picture as your signature picture?

Ah, you must know Trim's cousin as well!  She's a very enthusiastic young lady, and we are all looking forward to seeing her again at the Family Reunion - extending some Kansas hospitality to her and her California colleagues.  Go Cats!

Why would the plan be headed to this area if our Pres was going to Olive Garden and seeing Prince of Persia tonight?  :dunno:

It's just so fracking sad.  So terrible that it's nearly unbelievable.

What's worse, that we have a president who is fracking around on an evening when he should be working the phones, or that he would actually pay to go see Prince of Persia?

Or that he isn't working the phones while watching the NBA championship?

Guess who is wearing a Kobe jersey tonight and monitoring his cell phone and email?   :gocho:

I saw the trailer for Prince of Persia, only a moron would go see that movie.  I mean a real dim wit.  Someone truly incapable of higher level thinking...."touched by an angel."

It's laughable that ku is an AAU school . . . in terms of many of their fellow AAU school their research and academic ranking is a joke.

K-State Manhattan has just as much extramural research or more than ku Lawrence, they have to combine their medical center extramural research and ku lawrence to surpass K-State.    Compared to other major universities that have medical schools their total extramural research funding is extremely low.

Well put.

Phone calls have been placed, and ears have been tugged.  "Quietly into the night" will not be the etching on our tombstone, that you can be assured.

Be honest, Jon.  None of this would be happening to KSTATEO if you were still at the helm, right?

Satchel Paige once said "don't look back—something might be gaining on you."  It was one of his many sage instructions on how to remain youthful and vibrant.

I am not going to look backwards, but instead cast my eyes and my efforts toward the future.  Kansas State University is about people.  People working tirelessly toward a goal of making this University the best that it can be.  Certainly the past has shown that we can do this, however now we must script a new history.

Over the coming weeks, I believe that you'll see our "people" in motion in ways that will delight you a very great deal.  Unless that kiss ass Shultz fucks this all up.
