Make the band move again, this time even further away.

I really agree with this.

Looks like Deadspin is following that angle pretty hard.  I really hope they can prove that both the NFL front office and the Ravens had the video all along.

The Baltimore Ravens, who are still pretending they hadn't seen video of Ray Rice slugging his fiancée until this morning, despite evidence to the contrary, just announced in a one-sentence press release that they have cut Rice.

Update, 2:43 p.m. EDT: The NFL, also claiming it never saw the video, has suspended Rice indefinitely.

The NFL has just announced that Rice has been suspended from the league.

A league spokesperson just issued a statement saying, "Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice."

It will be interesting to hear John Harbaugh talk tonight and whether they claim to have seen the video before it went public or not.  It sounds like the NFL front office had seen it, but did they share it with the team or try to keep them in the dark?

The Pokemon card reminded me that it came down to us and ISU for Danzel.  Here's a few quotes from him after his visit there...

"Everybody at Iowa State has your back."

"Coach Rhoads is going to fly a jet down here to see me, and then leave for Chicago to go see my mother and father," McDaniel said. "That says a lot. The head coach recruiting me is a big factor. He has become my recruiting coordinator and is recruiting me himself. He wants me that bad and is willing to take time out of his day to call me.

"Coach Rhoads is a good man and good leader. I respect everything he says. He can lead this team to championships in the future. He wants me and Clink to come right in and play right away. I told him if we go there, we're going to help the team crack the top-25 and top-10."

These are some gems, but I miss the days when they still had hope.

What a night to be out at the K and for my son to see his first ballgame.

SungWoo didn't disappoint, here's a few more links summarizing his day.

Going to the game tonight.  Can't wait to see Sung Woo, he's the best thing to happen to KC in maybe forever.  If Sung Woo wasn't throwing out the first pitch I'd be watching from my sofa.

New report from Deadspin...

"Tyler Graves, a sprint-car racer and friend of Ward's, told Sporting News in a phone interview that he was sitting in the Turn 1 grandstands and saw everything that happened.

"Tony pinched him into the frontstretch wall, a racing thing," Graves said. "The right rear tire went down, he spun on the exit of (Turn) 2. They threw the caution and everything was toned down. Kevin got out of his car. … He was throwing his arms up all over the place at Tony for most of the corner.

"I know Tony could see him. I know how you can see out of these cars. When Tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. When you hit a throttle on a sprint car, the car sets sideways. It set sideways, the right rear tire hit Kevin, Kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards."

Police dept. is supposed to be making a statement soon.

Most people are guessing he didn't make it  :frown:.  They lit flares for the helicopter, but put them out before a helicopter got there.

Edit - now reporters are saying he was at least admitted to the hospital, so  :dunno:

:frown: t's and p's for Kevin Ward Jr. I hope this was an accident or made up.

Yikes, definitely not made up. I just listened to a witness on the radio who gave a pretty good summary.  His best guess was that it was an accident due to the guy coming to confront Stewart, he was in a dark firesuit, no helmet, darker than normal track, etc.  A different report from deadspin says the guy gestured to Stewart and then Stewart gunned his engine.

Not sure if anybody is interested, but here's an old George Brett appearance on Letterman.

the two cities of Sunderland and Washington, D.C. already hold a friendship agreement

Do you get it now??

I wonder if they'll ever have USMNT practices or training sessions open to the public?  I'd be very happy about that.

"Sporting Kansas City said it will make a major announcement on Wednesday.

The team would not release any details about the announcement.

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback and Kansas City, Kan., Mayor Mark Holland will join Sporting KC CEO Rob Heineman for the event at Sporting Park.

Sporting plans to make the announcement at 6 p.m. Two hours later, the team takes on Manchester City at Sporting Park."

Anybody else listen/watch/read Men in Blazers?  If not, give them a try.  My daily routine now includes watching their "boot room extra" after each days games.

They also have a podcast through Grantland.
